So in September, I visited Singapore from Japan, then as a history buff, roughly knew what happened in Singapore over history. The museum I visited was filled with hostility against Japan depicting Japan VS Britain. I understood it ,but the way of describing it was kinda way gruesome. It's clearly different from museum in Hiroshima. I also saw a tall tower was being built saying "Memorial of independence from Japan" . I felt a little uneasy to stay there...They still begrudge hostility probably.

I'm pretty sure the retreat from Kabul in 1842 would be Britain's worst military disaster ever. 15,999 out of 16,000 killed.

This is about 70 years from now. However, 70 years ago, the Japanese Empire had been studying the British Empire for 70 years. The Japanese Empire is the people who studied for 70 years how Japan would take the colonies occupied by Europe. The Japanese Empire imitated the British Empire almost every way. Even the Japanese emperor system was created in imitation of the British royal family. The Japanese Emperor is people who had lived in Kyoto not Tokyo for thousands of years without any army. They were originally fortune tellers not royal family. The Japanese Empire even imitated the diet of the British Navy. Japanese curry rice is a food that imitated the diet of the British Navy. This is not the disaster of the British military, but the disaster of the British politicians. They didn't know who Japanese is and even more who Chinese is.

Yes they did? They mentioned that Indian troops were fighting there as part of the British force at 2:51 and on the map at 4:55 it shows Indian positions.

Evidently don't know much about deterrents... Britain is still one of only a hand full of countries that can project it's forces worldwide. What makes you think they're useless? They're a fine bit of modern engineering.

@@catlee8064 You'd be a fool indeed if you thought media knew anything about what goes on. Look at the defence budget of the UK, are you going to tell me that you know exactly where that extortionate amount of money is going, behave... Joe public doesn't know anything. Besides, the main weapon of any country is the element of surprise, why would we broadcast our true power to the world and become predictable like a third world country... As for the nuclear subs... We have the most modern navy in the world, and the Trafalgar nuclear armed subs are being replaced, so what are you babbling on about?

I read a long detailed account of the fall of Singapore. The author blamed it squarely on the ill disciple of the Australian defence force. Happy to hear other opinions if based on fact.
@campfiresnlasguns4 жыл бұрын
Here in Singapore, we don't blame the soldiers actually. We blame the overall British Command and its overconfidence. Especially General Arthur Percival. To us, we deem every Allied soldier to have done their best but alas, Percival was bluffed by Japanese general Yamashita into surrendering.
@masterofpuppets72953 жыл бұрын
I've heard many accounts of the fall of singapore and not once have i heard it was down to ill discipline from the Australians. That book sounds like a complete load of fabricated shit. The general consensus was that leadership was piss poor from high command and the fact that the sea and air defences were woefully inadequate due too the british being more worried about europe
