It's crazy to think about how much personality hip hop had back in the 90s. You could instantly recognize a rapper's area just from the way they dressed, or a kid from another city based on that too, hell even the words they used were also different. Nowadays it's all mixed up and uhhhh there are still sooome differences but nothing crazy anymore. Imagine an east coast guy in timbs and carhatts meeting a west coast guy in nikes and long socks back then.

The Timberland standard construction boot in the wheat with the black leather upper is the most perfectly designed boot made. It’s the universal ascetic of “boot”. I buy a pair, wear it till they start looking rough, make them my work boots and then buy a new pair for weekends. Same cycle 20 years

"Great quality and craftsmanship" 🤣🤣🤣 thanks I needed that. Maybe for posing in rap videos and walking down the block for liquor. For doing things that actual boots are made for? Not hardly. Hell, had this new guy on our crew (civil construction) a while back, showed up with a brand new pair of that trash the first day. By the third week, the leather on the heel and toe-bend had started to wear & crack, and he said the insole had flattened like a pancake. Went and got himself a pair of Red Wings like an actual tradesman. Two years later? He still wears em. They're fine. "Tims" are overpriced fashion wear for guys that take their car to a shop when the tire pressure gets low. Hell, I got a pair of my pops old RW from fifty years ago, that he alternated with another pair for 5 decades. I still wear them to work. That's called "Great Quality and Craftsmanship."

I remember when my mother bought a pair of timberland boots for my father birthday back in 1975 he was an ironworker. I was like 7 or 8yr old when he opened the box we both were wow and our eyes got big and pop out of our heads. When he put them on he looked up and walked around with a koolaid smile on his face and hug and kiss my mother and said thank you. I'm from Roxbury Boston and Timberlands were made in south Boston and Massachusetts was known for alot shoes company.

Long post, but this is my personal journey with boots. I’ve always liked boots more than sneakers since I was like 5, and this brand always holds a special place in my heart and on my feet. 😎 Even if most kids, myself included, didn’t know of or have the money saved up to buy a pair, the yellow work boot design was and still is very popular regardless of brand, and it’s how I met one of my lifelong friends! I remember trying on my first ever pair of yellow boots from K-Mart, the brand was Northwest Territory (not the original but I liked them because they looked similar to what I saw other boys wearing at school). I remember trying them on and feeling like a big strong man, like an action movie star lol. I loved them so much I wore them home, yep, I was a boot boy. One day I noticed the friend I mentioned had on similar-looking yellow boots to mine (same brand, just the outsole was different) and clicked from there lol, like we even picked days we’d wear them together to show our friendship. Eventually I outgrew them, but still wanted another pair like that. Around 9 I got a pair of Hush Puppies that looked like the Euro Hikers (still didn’t know the actual Timberland brand or products yet) and were very comfy too. My attention turned to the actual brand in 6th Grade seeing them on another boy’s feet. I was mesmerized. It made me both excited and jealous because they looked better and more tough than the department store stuff I was used to, and I begged my parents and my older brother for a pair of my own, they were that cool to me. My first pair of Timberlands were some brown hiking boots from my godfather when I was 12. If anyone reading this massive wall of txt remembers, that’s when the Campsite Chukkas were popular in their multiple color combinations. Lots of boys had them. Then I finally got my Campsites from my folks when I was 15 as an early Christmas present. I wore those ALL THE TIME, made ‘em creased even. 😂😂😂 But I had been craving the butters since 11 but wasn’t able to buy or save for them because money was tight. Couple years later my best friend gave me his butters (slightly oversized but still rocked ‘em, creased them into Mickey Mouse shoes 😅 not my proudest moment). In college I bought a cheap pair on eBay but got rid of them not long after because I figured out they were fake. I put my dream on the back burner to focus on my education. Fast forward to age 25…Got the Butters both original and basic on my first full-time job, a custom pair from the much better pre-COVID Timberland Website boot customizer and most recently the Supers that had a brief drop last year, and as of a couple weeks ago the 50th Anniversary boots in blue with matching hoodie. Proud owner!! 😎 I’m 34 now, but my inner kid is always happy when I slip these on.

Docs got co-opted by preppies a couple decades ago, and I think they are an overpriced relic as a result. Strictly kid stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I owned a pair I bought in England in 84, that are long gone. They were better then.

Lord Finesse and the DITC Crew are the first i ever saw wearing Timbs ( chukkas) with shorts in the summer around 1990/ 91 in the Bronx..Before them all ppl wore boots in the winter and NEVER with shorts. They changed the style and everyone else followed.
