The sex scene was weird it didn't had to be in the movie.

I think it had to be there to show that Thomas was in love with Edith since she was the only wife he made love to

@@kismetau It's important because that makes her feelings for her evolve. Thomas hadn't slept with any, according to Lucille. And that scene helped greater intimacy and Thomas decided to do the right thing as the film went on, help Edith.

It was really important to his character development to see that raw romantic connection form between him and someone that wasn't his sister. Even though we didn't know that ( well, it was hinted at but we didn't know for sure yet) he was fucking his sister yet, based on what they've both been through most of their lives ( the abuse and neglect, the being isolated in a a room and house together with no one else to interact with for years), it was very much necessary to show him learning and figuring out that he wasn't bound to his sister, that he was a free man if he chose to be, and if he loved Edith that deeply he should go for it. It was a beautiful show of him truly finding himself in her, and learning that Edith had something that he could never get from Lucille. And, besides, it was not that long of a scene ok? All you saw was thrusting from the waist up and a smooth ass that looks like every other human ass in the world.

I always think this. They can show that they are having sex without nakedness of anyone??? Or exploiting the actor's bodies. I hate that tbh
