Why Toys for Bob Going Independent Isn't As Bad As You Think It Is

Toys for Bob, a studio that has worked on titles such as Crash Bandicoot 4 and Spyro, has revealed it is going indie and breaking away from Activision. Now, while some feel that this is a bad thing, I think this is a fantastic move for the studio, and here's why. #toysforbob #activision #gamingnews

@@gookawild5543 Sure. Plenty have. Look at the tons of indie games we get and have gotten. And as I mentioned, and if you listened, I said they are talking to MS and want to work with them in some capacity. Perhaps they want to work with Xbox, but not under Activision, and not be stuck as a Call of Duty support team. We won't know more until they let us know. But yes, indie companies can and have survived in this industry. The big thing is now they can create their own IPs if they want. Maybe they had plans, but under Activision, they were told no.

To follow-up. Sea of Stars, Blasphemous 2, Cassette Beasts, Cocoon, PIzza Tower, Hades, Hollow Knight, PALWORLD, and Pacific Drive, to name a few. All of these are indie games, that show indie companies can make successful games. An issue with a lot of people is that only AAA games exist. Indie games have been doing great in the gaming industry for the last decade and will continue to do so.

@@TheOuterhaven Okay, you make good points. Yet I can't help but wonder, I mean look at Twisted Pixel Games, they were a studio under Microsoft but broke away and just fell off. I haven't heard any news about them in years.

The intro sound is the same that they use on the Italian crime TV show "Le Iene" (Italian for Reservoir Dogs). Speaking of Toys for Bob and as a fan of Crash and Spyro, I want Sony to buy the company as a petition.

I sorta agree even though it's sucks not getting a skyrocket or a skylander spinoff or crash game it tough but long run its way better we will get better indie games with them independent and let's be real microsoft wouldn't be able to managed this studio because all they would do is shut them down like rare so ultimately it's better for the industry. I'm sure toys for bob will still make some license games for microsoft for money to fund original titles.

They aren't. But the hope was that when the ABK deal was finalized, thatToys for Bob would work on a new Banjo-Kazooie game. Nothing was ever confirmed. It was just the hope of the gaming audience. Given that they worked on Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, they would be the perfect candidate.
