1/12/25..Crotch Split in ...Linden tree..or Bass Wood tree ...which has 5 major stems with numerous branches blocking sunlight on homeowners Solar Roof Pannels. Tree has sentimental/emotional value for home owner...loved tree since she was a child..so...best compromise was what you did.✅️✅️...but that huge split in middle of tree will kill this tree..don't know when but owner needs to prepare for its removal before it breaks, falls & could hurt someone. I would vote to remove this sick/dying tree & plant a new fast growing tree which thrives in your cold weather. Thx for your explinations. Also that Red lifting machine with large platform looks very nice! Ok, stay safe & carry on!👍👍👍🍷😊

The bottom of the tree looks very dangerous. You have a good idea to keep it for the older person to recall good memories.

I understand the value we put in trees, but sometimes it may be better to cut it down for safety...this may be one of those cases. In my opinion. Which along with a few loonies will get you a double-double at Tim's. (a few Euros will get you a coffee at your local coffee shop...lol). Cheers from New Brunswick, Canada (eh). 🇨🇦

Homeowner wants to wait until she is gone before the tree is removed very interesting. We have many trees in hills around New York City and New Jersey 30 miles north and west near Bear Mountain park are millions of trees many trees are more than 150 years old and they also split apart and there’s rot and insects. The Emerald Ash Borer is killing all the ash trees. The Lightning Moth is sucking the sap out of many trees killing them.

«lehmus» in English seems to be called lime or linden in the UK and basswood in the US. I get the owner's sentimental attachment but that tree is just a tragedy waiting to happen. I've never seen crotch splits that big.

Это больное дерево поэтому его надо спиливать чтобы оно не упало на кого-нибудь. и посадить 5 новых.

Where is your harness? In UK we have to wear a fall arrest harness and be clipped onto the raised basket structure . This is to prevent the human being accidentally bounced out of the basket during normal lifting/lowering and working conditions (it's the law). Doing what you are doing in the UK and publishing it online will definitely result in prosecution if the authorities get wind of it. And tools should have lanyards attached to them and basket to prevent dropped objects (don't suppose that matters so much when there's bits of tree falling all over the place, but would still prevent damage to a dropped chainsaw). Sorry.

Maybe in Finland they don't have "big brother" watching every move you make. Perhaps Finland works with the Darwin model. To allow a natural reduction of people who do truly dumb things.

It's required, but outside of construction or industrial work no one really cares. Propably would have problems with the insurance company if something happens and with a police if something hapens to someone else working for you.

First thing I noticed in this vid was no fall arrest. Was a little nerve wracking with all the leaning over the rail he was doing too. :(

I read that a tree produces enough oxygen for x number of people during its vigorous growing years. But, as it declines, it consumes more than it created. That is why harvesting a tree before the decline is important.

At least when tree starts to rotten, it starts to produce CO2, so better to take into a fireplace and use the heat... Because by the laws of chemistry rottening and burning produce the same amount of carbon dioxide.

I would have refused the job. The work you did is not going to extend the life of that tree in any meaningful way. All the wounds are likely to lead to infection and insect entry. That tree needed to come down entirely. In two or three years, anyone will still be able to see where you topped it. Cut it right to the ground and it might have been able to stump sprout from the roots, but this is just tragic :(
