Hopefully everything goes well with overall health of the team, the 49ers have a good chance to go back to the Super Bowl and win it if that happens I can see Trent Williams retiring after the season maybe that why the 49ers are not concern giving Trent a extension because of the possibility of him retiring.

Some of you are not listening reconstructing a contract can save the team money. Every thing has to be negative. Trent might be trying to help the team so he can get one more shot at a ring. When you get to his age all you are thinking about is finishing on top. I can see if this was a younger player. But Trent has done everything but win a ring and we finally have a quarterback you can win with. I could be wrong but I bet he wants one more shot.

This sounds good on paper. IF Williams can keep producing at a high level and doesn't get injured, it's a great move. However, 36 years old is up there for an NFL player. Given that the OL has been a position of need for years, the 49ers need to start actively pursuing his replacement, and of course protect themselves financially. If love to see him play several more years, but I don't want to see another Dee Ford situation.
@justified0045 ай бұрын
The problem has never been giving Trent money, but building the rest of the OL. We have become so dependent on Trent to make our OL effective and even competent. We can give him guaranteed money especially if it means protecting Brock but we have to stop cobbling together the right side and get some depth.

This right here is showing that the SB window has slammed shut, all the vets who are past their prime looking for money instead of a ring need to go, just like Walsh did getting rid of players a year earlier than a year to late, don't keep these players it's business, just like we need to get rid of that choke artist of a head coach #FIREKYLE.... If Kyle is the next Andy Reed.. Nah I'm good in having to wait 16 years to see another SB WIN as I have been so fortunate to have see all 5 that we won when Eddie (the LEMONAID stand) owned the team.... I wish all the fans today got to see that regime and people would understand why we feel the way we do. And when the whole Eddie didn't have the cap... He did and won a SB with a cap which was less then what Nick Bosa makes in a year.
@patarroyo59155 ай бұрын
I knew you were gonna spin it into being a good thing, Iam still waiting on aiyuks contract. Here’s where I think your missing the point or not talking about this enough, all these players want more money but more importantly they want multi year security and guarantees, well Iam here to tell you that it’s not gonna happen because even if you don’t pay Purdy this year, they damn well that they’re gonna a be out on at least two maybe three of their core players when Purdy gets the bag, and in your scenario or wishful thinking is that you want them to play on like one year deal. Not gonna happen, and worst you got two disgruntled players, at given chance they’re gonna sit for minor injuries because they don’t have the multi year security. Your too optimistic
@JakeTheSnake5005 ай бұрын
David isn't being too optimistic. He's just laying out a possible scenario. You might be right that when Brock gets paid, there will be some casualties, just like there was when in KC when Mahomes got paid. But at this point, the next best thing to having a QB on a rookie contract, is having WR's on rookie contracts. DeeBo is probably gone after this year, and it's starting to look like BA may have to honor his 14+ mil contract for this year. That's a problem I would love to have, and yes, it's class envy. 😅

Is there a reason why Puni is projected as a guard, and Jaylon Moore is a left tacle? They're around the same size, arm legnth, with similar measurables.
@jackwang95365 ай бұрын
The logic is this: Moore has 2 seasons of pro experience at tackle and Puni hasn't played a pro snap yet. Moore was an OT in college and he's never been an interior guy. Puni played mostly OG in college and can also play center, so it's a logical fit for him to play guard. Ultimately it will depend on how they play, and not their measurables.
@JakeTheSnake5005 ай бұрын
@jackwang9536 Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but if Trent gets injured or retires, Jaylon Moore is our main backup plan, outside of the suboptimal swing tackles we have on the roster. Praying 🙏 for Big Trent to stay healthy. If he goes down, CMC won't be able to run behind him every other play, and Brock will be running for his effing life!

😂 Williams is 35 yrs old. How much longer can he play. Can help with salary cap for next yr. Many players contracts option up in 2025. Curious, does all this guarantee money eventual hurt the team. Because they will be paying money to players that may not be on the team. Or all this money is paid up front. Hurts team if player can't perform. Reminds of passer rusher got paid by Bears, but got hurt. So money went for nothing. Heard, Williams didn't play well in SB. He's a little old. Is he going to go all out, or take it easy to save his body. Like DE Chase Young. Or that Pittsburgh WR who said he was worried about be hit from behind if he helped block. Younger players will go all out to make team. Vet players may take off a play if not involved or being a decoy.
