Can you talk specifically about computer science? I hear it is one of the best for placing into big tech companies.

I want to transfer to UW CS major. How competitive that is? I'm in community college right now, and my GPA is 3.93. Do I have a shot?
@toktok99993 жыл бұрын
it will still be competitive depending on the major you choose. you’ll easily get in if you choose a less competitive major

CS for out of state is pretty competitive, even in state students are lucky to get in to the Allen school. Make sure to have a back up major and that your essays are great(if your not asian/white bring it up for extra point). Please give it a shot either way, things might sound grim but the worst they can say is "no"

@@Ninjabdul Hi Ninjabdul! I got in UWT, and I’m still trying to apply UW though. It is really tricky right now, UWT starts in Winter and UW starts in Spring. So basically I wouldn’t hear anything from UW when UWT winter starts. What should I do though? Do you think I should just give a shot apply to UW and if I didn’t get in then just re-apply UWT again, or I just take UWT’s offer?

@@Ninjabdul Also, I'm Asian (Guess it's even harder, huh). Should I mention I'm a woman and first-generation college student?

Hey guys, how is the Bothell campus in terms of on-campus jobs and living costs? Are there research opportunities available at Bothell?
@purpleguac4 жыл бұрын
uw provides students with great on-campus job opportunities in all three of its campuses. in terms of living costs, seattle much more expensive than bothell and tacoma
@lucs66664 жыл бұрын
There are some research opportunities at bothell, but for the most part its at Seattle. Its better to live off campus at Bothell since the "on-campus" living is still a mile or so away from classes.

What about the murders that happen here like the video before said?

Honestly, that is just something that happens in big cities especially ones like Seattle (Chicago and New York are even worse.) It isn't that bad but I recommend keeping a knife on you and some pepper spray just for security. Now there are three locations but Seattle is what you want if you are looking for that competitive top university with big industry connections, I haven't worked with Bothell much but Tacoma is a great campus for local students looking for a more personal experience in classes while still getting a pretty good education (some professors at Tacoma are even better than Seattle but choose to teach at the Tacoma campus because of the atmosphere, I especially recommend the Tacoma Math department.) The Seattle campus is extremely competitive to the level of many Ivy schools so while you may get in you should know you will have to fight to get your major, good research, good internships, even recommendations are something you have to fight for simply because you can really only get good letters of rec from profs you work with out of your classes as the classes are way too big for profs to address individuals. If you do get out of your undergrad from UW being a top student taking advantage of all of the UW connections and the research opportunities then you will be set to either be a great applicant for a master's or Ph.D. or to get into a good industry job that pays well. Again, CS/Engineering and Bio/Med is what UW is the best at (UW is easily top 10 in bio schools across America.)
