हमारा सोहागपुर एक ऐसा नाम था जिसने इस फिल्म में बेहद अहम भूमिका अदा की मीना कुमारी की परिचारिका हमीदा और बेला इसी शहर के एक आदिवासी गांव छेड़का की रहने वाली थी और जिस समय कमाल अमरोही और मीना जी के बीच में इस फिल्म को लेकर डिस्कशन चल रहा था उसी बीच हमीदा ने अपने घर सुहागपुर आने की इच्छा जताई सुहागपुर नाम को लेकर कमाल अमरोही चौक पड़े और उन्होंने अपने आर्ट डायरेक्टर के साथ सुहागपुर रवानगी डाल दी पालक की मीना कुमारी जी की खराब तबीयत की वजह से सुहागपुर रेलवे स्टेशन और ट्रेन का सेट बनाकर शूटिंग अशोका स्टूडियो में हुई । किंतु इस फिल्म के साथ सुहागपुर भी अमर हो गया
