Vinland Saga really was such a special show and you did a wonderful job highlighting everything it did best! I really should get around to reading the manga sometime, since I miss the story already. Though there definitely is something to be said for how anime can enhance the experience of a story in almost every way. There's just something indescribable that happens when the movement, animation, sound effects, music, voice acting, and even simple lighting, color, and visual effects come together to bring a scene to life. Great job as always Kaze, and keep up the amazing work!

I remember watching the first season of Vinland Saga and just being in awe of it. It really felt like I was watching a long beautiful film. The story, the character development, the music, the execution, the animation, all of it is incredible. There were moments that elevated the whole experience and I really wanted to talk about my process going through those special moments. It was really fun making this video! Friend here's some friendly constructive criticism for you 1. Your Video is too damn long, make your points more concise 2.The pitch and tone of your narration is a bit irritating. Please make your voice lower and read slower, you don't want to sound like an overly excited 9 year old Weebo 3. You're passionate about Anime I get it, but be careful not to come off as pretentious "Last two episode of Evangelion is a master piece that exceeds my expectation...", Dude they ran out of money that's why they had to finish it like that Please take this with a grain of salt as it is just an advice from a random Internet dude

Hey. Just wanted to respond to your comment with my thoughts. 1 - I’ve heard people say that, but I’ve also heard people prefer my videos to be long. So it’s hard to gauge which is better to do. And since I like going deep into things, I tend to prefer the latter, but trying not to lengthen it too much. 2 - Same as before. I’ve heard that and I’ve heard the opposite too. Some people prefer high energy, others low energy, so I try to balance it. I feel like I’m getting better video by video. Reading slower is something I do try to do too. It’s a learning process I guess. 3 - I do know about that. I actually even made a video about it. But regardless of the money situation (which isn’t the whole story from what I know), limitations create many times artistic expressions. 2001: A Space Odyssey is a film that suddenly got a chunk of its budget cut and thanks to it, we got one of the most powerful cinematic scenes ever made (talking about the ending). So I don’t think it’s pretentious when I do mention what I did. The last two episodes really blew me away and I do believe them to be a masterpiece. Those are my honest feelings. I don’t know how else to put it. Nevertheless, thanks for letting me know what you felt. I’ll take it into consideration.

Would love to see a breakdown of Sagrada Reset from you. It's criminal how nearly no one talks about it, and KZbin is nearly devoid of any significant content on it. For me it's a show where not a second is wasted, no cliché scenes that fill most anime that people proclaim to be masterpieces. I just recently watched Vinland and it was amazing, great video. Liked subscribed etc.

This is some great analysis. You picked up on a lot of character details that I thought were masterfully written but which a lot of anime reactors missed. I've been pretty disappointed by how few reactors are able to pick up on the nuances in Vinland Saga tbh.

Unless I'm missing something big, the show seems kinda pointless. I mean, the main character and Askeladd both stay bad people to the end, Askeladd being the worst. How can you root for either of them? And how can you enjoy the series when nearly everyone in it is evil?
@lawrens8648

Slight Spoilers for non manga readers You have to remember this is just the first arc of the story. In the second arc onwards Thorfinn grows into a great person driven to redeem himself for all the bad things he did as Viking and using the lessons he learned from both Thors and Askeladd. As for Askeladd he was a product of the time period and his environment like young Thorfinn.Askeladd did many terrible things but not any worst then most warriors of the time period and he died to save his people and to put in power somebody he believed would create a better word and indirectly taught Thorfinn something that will help in the future.

@@lawrens8648 But how can you root for him at that point in the story? It isn't that he just did bad things, he ENJOYED them. He smiled while chopping a guy's fingers off!
@lawrens8648
@lawrens8648 4 жыл бұрын
@@kingchickenwing4887 He actually isn't that sadistic. He enjoyed or at least was acting like he enjoyed cutting that dude fingers of but that dude is a Saxon Askeladd doesn't like them because they pushed his ancestors out of their country and he didn't like how the saxon captain was complaining about how the Danes were now doing as much to his own people. Askeladd said as much during the torture scene. Aside from that he isn't really shown engage in needless cruelty like his men do. He lets his men rape and murder innocents because if he didn't they wouldn't follow him but he isn't shown actually doing those thing himself unless necessary. Besides you don't have to root for him you just need to understand were he's coming from. You can root for Caunte.
@andresperez2264
@andresperez2264 4 жыл бұрын
@KingChickenwing Well, you seem to have missed the messages about the futility of revenge, the multiple interpretations of paradise, and the appeal of war, as well as the general brutality of the Vikings. Also Askeladd is a great character not because you can "root" for him, but rather it's his interesting motivations and backstory that really help you reflect on the state of the world at that time and an introspective look and message at humanity in general, just how grey we can be, especially Askeladd, somehow being a hero, villain, protagonist (not really, I know he's not the protag, don't attack me lol), and antagonist all at the same time. In shows like Vinland Saga, the enjoyment and intrigue are not from the goals or the overarching journey, it's rather looking at the characters and seeing the actions they commit, the sides they choose, and their motivations for everything. Vinland Saga in one season was able to deliver 5 incredible characters that speak to so much about humanity and each of our tendencies all revolving and being absolutely ingrained in the show's main themes.
