Back in the late 80's we had our R.V. broken into and the punks tossed everything around inside. I remember my dad getting very emotional after going in and cleaning everything up. He said " my knives are gone, they took my Boy Scout knives! " he had them since he was a kid. The leather belt holster held a small and a large knife. They meant alot to my dad and I know that those knives were supposed to be handed down to me, and then to my son. 😕

Ah, the good ole days of the Sears Wish Book. So exciting when that showed up in the mail. A couple classic knives that bring back many fond memories. I like the drop point better on both of them and really love that sheath!

Thanks so much for this video. It brings back my memories of buying knives in my youth. I am 72 and from South Africa and the availability of imported knives was limited so we treasured the ones we bought. I still have most of my knives and each one has a story behind it. Look forward to the next video.

Great knives. When I got back into carrying, the modern knives got my attention. It wasn’t long before I fell right back to the traditionals. Now I buy and refurbish the old, rusty knives to give them a second life. Have a great day!

Thanks John for the video. Great fun; growing up I had an Old Timer three blade pocket knife. Used it for everything until wore the blade down from years of sharpening so much it was dangerous to carry in the pocket because of the exposed edge. Made a dangler sheath and carried it a few more years until was lost. Now have a cheap nockoff of the blade; not quite near as good.

I was never a fan of Buck 110 i loved the design but i didn't like the steel. Buck came with the worst edge. I believe a drunken blind man could sharpen a knife better. I carried a Sharade lockback it was just better. I believe sometime around 85 i got a kershaw lockback. That was my absolute favorite. It was smaller in size almost like a Buck 112. It was grey with black plastic or whatever(they name the material) it was in the center same place the wood is on buck. The major difference with kershaw is it comes razor sharp. With a beautiful edge. Kershaw back then had some of the absolute best edges. An its easy to maintain a decent edge. Buck was a nightmare to fix. Don't get me wrong i had a few bucks that i loved because they were everywhere and they were affordable. I couldn't imagine how many traditional knives ive lost. I remember when kershaw put pocket clips on the First Endura design. It was metal screwed into plastic. Lost a bunch of those the clip would fall off. The knife ive carried the longest probably the voyager. Ive had almost every design. Japan wasn't a upgrade back when knives moved their. China and japan were both poor quality. Kershaw lost me after a liner lock failed at work twice. The last time cut me very bad. Nowadays i carry a coldsteel voyager or G10 Espada in xhp that's over 10 years old. Anyone thanks for reading my stroll down memory lane. At least how i remember it. Im wondering if anyone else has a opinion about these brands.
