As an Aussie, it’s really sick to hear that Harry enjoyed his time in New Zealand. It really is a sweet spot for introverts and people who appreciate kind interactions. Lake Pukaki was my highlight when I went there.

That’s because most of the time, no matter who you are, we leave you alone. We might say hi, then leave you to it &that’s why so many people love coming here. I remember seeing Dave Chapelle and he said he walked around Auckland cbd and took 3 photos and everyone else just left him to it 😅

As a British guy who speaks Japanese and has lived in Japan, I’ll say you definitely CAN learn basic Japanese if you put in 10 minutes every day. It’s not that difficult at the beginning. Also, Chip is right, there are areas where you’ll find loads of foreigners, especially Shibuya. There’s a “British pub” chain called Hub which usually has its fair share of foreigners, as long as it’s in a busy area. There are areas near Shibuya like Daikanyama where you might see more foreigners than you do Japanese. If you go to Japan, you should definitely try to immerse yourself in the real culture, which includes leaving Tokyo (nearby areas like Nagano, Kyoto and Kawagoe for example), but if you wanna find other foreigners, it’s not very difficult if you know where to look.
@m4b7hm10 ай бұрын
what do you do in this 10 minutes ?
@MrChelseaDan10 ай бұрын
@@m4b7hm I started on Duolingo, but there are other apps like Memrise that are good for learning the basics (although I don’t know anyone who uses them for advanced Japanese). It will teach you hiragana (the basic alphabet) and some simple words like colours etc. Soon after you’ll learn “My name is…” “I am from…”, those kinds of phrases. You can customise it a bit to only learn speaking, but I think it’s better to learn speaking and reading simultaneously!

Honestly have to agree as an Australian who learnt Japanese in primary and a bit of secondary school. You can learn pretty fluent Japanese with a year of good practice. I can barely saying a few words 10 years on but can still count to 100 with ease

3:00 I remember in the UK when it was unheard of to eat while walking down the street. Eating and drinking while walking only became a thing in the early 1990s when there was a boom in takeaway sandwiches. I was born in early 1970s and you NEVER eat while walking down the street because there was nothing to eat other than the raw ingredients of food, even in the 1980s. You were looked down on if you did.

In an earthquake you stand in a door way. Strongest part of a house
@laurenduthie220311 ай бұрын
Nope, they’ve ditched that because doorways are not built to bear more weight than any other part of the house, and you’re liable to have a door swing at you.

Love travelling solo as well👌 You get way more peace and relaxation, but you have no one to share the experiences with.
@laurenduthie220311 ай бұрын
You go under a table so that in a more moderate earthquake you’re less likely to be hit by debris. In a severe earthquake a really sturdy table still might hold out against a roof collapsing on you. They teach us this stuff in primary school here because we have so many fault lines and earthquakes aren’t uncommon 😂

As a Kiwi you could stay in Queenstown for a week and only do half of the activities. Also you should go to Dunedin and run up the tallest street in the WORLD. Glad you enjoyed and Thank you for pronucing the Maori names sooooo well.❤

@rossbroomfield519911 ай бұрын
In an Earthquake - best bet = get outside. If you can’t get outside quickly get under a table because it’s stops you falling over into something, things won’t fall on top of you and if the roof does fall in the table will protect you initially so hopefully you can dig out or rescuers can find you alive
