Hearing the people talking also humanizes them, it makes their decisions less suspicious in my opinion. VAR audio should be available for every game I think, either as a secondary channel or as a separate immediate public release, especially for the first division of each league. Keeping it under lock is counterproductive.

The refs did absolutely nothing wrong. The problem is the time spent. What really took the most time was the offside call. The system the Prem has right now I don’t think the refs can go faster than they did either. If they go faster they will get decisions wrong. The Champions League offside system is much faster. Thats where I think there can be improvements, to the actual system. Champions League has a semi-automated offside system which makes it faster and even more accurate. Idk why the Prem said no to implementing this but imo this is the only way of improvement atm.

Jackson was so far from the GK, he is almost near the edge of the box while the GK is on the line. There is plenty of line of sight for the GK to see Caicedo's strike. So a player can be between the half way line and the goal in an offside position coming back from play and his team mate shoots towards goal and score and he is judge to be offisde obstructing GK's view? There must be some extent to how this offside blocking GK view can be applied. Jackson was nearer the shooter than the GK.

im not siding with either teams here, but this argument ain't it. First of all, with the exception of a "benefit of doubt" scenario (rashford vs liverpool in united's 2-1 win over liverpool) where they wouldnt call an offside if both lines touch each other, there is no other "in-between" outcome for offside. Either you're off or you're on. Secondly, Jackson's position hinders the line of sight of the keeper, and therefore as long as Jackson is offside, he should be penalised. peace

@Patrick-qz6tn
@Patrick-qz6tn Жыл бұрын
If Romero were taking a shot and his follow through landed his foot on a defender's leg like that, there's no way refs give an attacker a red card for that contact. Romero was playing a ball in his possession, Enzo made no attempt to play the ball or avoid contact with the progressing player. Take this a step further and players will be running into the studs of someone who just kicked to get the kicker sent off. Picture this, Salah shoots on goal, scores, but Romero lunges in so Salah's studs land on Romero's shin on the follow-through... you want to red card Salah for that?

“Just playing the ball in itself does not allow you to follow through in this way” Terrible call & worse explanation. Enzo endangers himself by simply standing in the follow-through zone of the kick. Happens nearly every time there is a successful slide tackle. Player gets ball first, follows through to take out the player. So if this is how they are calling fouls & dishing out reds then it should be the same for nearly every slide tackle, which obviously is not how football is (or should be) played.

This all kinds of wrong, football was never supposed to be refereed like this; offside because why? his backside is 2 inches offside? Throughout the history of football that would be considered level and the goal given. The penalty? Players' have to commit to a challenge, once the ball is cleared at that pace he cannot then do anything else but catch Enzo who is his international team-mate so no intent there. These people are ruining the game.

What happened to getting to the ball first? He clearly got the ball. These things happen in seconds. How on earth is he going to control his follow through? They are ruining football by going too soft. The fact is that if he does not make the 50 50 challenge he doesn't get the ball and is not able to clear.

@rageeth, actually I've seen multiple different players manage this kind of tackle WITHOUT the follow through. So clearly some players have learnt the art of a hard tackle without being a dirty player. Unfortunately for Spurs, Romero isn't one of them. Shocking tackle. I bet if it was one of your players you'd be fuming if he didn't get punished for endangering the welfare of a fellow pro.
@PaulKTomo

Exactly, football has gone soft. It's just stupid, it's a CONTACT SPORT he needs to be laser focused on getting that ball and stopping a potential goal. He's not going to kill someone, not going to do serious damage. Never a foul.... It's a joke. I remember refs saying "welcome to the Premier League" and how we weren't like Europe well we are now!
@simonsmith1974
@simonsmith1974 11 ай бұрын
@@PaulKTomo I guess if this was one of your players you'd think different. I'm also curious as to how it won't cause serious damage if it hits? I seem to recall Roy Keane ending Haalands career with a bad tackle, and there's more examples. The leg of a person is a remarkably fragile thing, easily broken and very hard to deal with once broken. Romero is a dirty player. Has been for some time.
@PaulKTomo
@PaulKTomo 11 ай бұрын
@@simonsmith1974 Roy Keane's was completely different though, high no where near the ball and deliberate, he had one focus and that was to injure Haaland and he did. Totally wrong and deserved what he got. Football is meant to be physical, go back 20, even 10 years and no one would be complaining at this. VVD got taken out by Pickford I do not complain, it was reckless don't get me wrong, but it's football. It was brutal for us, but it is what it is.

I think its great to communicate like that. Thinking about other situations where the VAR in my opinion just destroyed the match for example 07.09.2021 Austria vs Scotland. How can the VAR say yes to the first pen for scotland and no the the second pen for austria. Ref would not have gaven both. I would say both a penalty. VAR just forced the 1:0 win for scotland in my opinion.

Well… you determine that it “is the defender shoulder”… why would you decide that? The issue with the whole camera angle is that it cannot determine which body part is the furthest outward. “Are you happy with that blue line there”, feelings can rally alter our perception of reality.

Blatant dive from sterling.. 1) should have been offside 2) yellow card for sterling & spurs free kick 3) red card to Romero ...factually the dive before the penalty rules it out because it was a foul committed before, and it should still have then been a red card for violent conduct. Hence why the people & not VAR is the problem

Oh man. That foul was brutal and definitely worthy of a red. That’s like some Sunday league tackle right there. However, that offside call is completely stupid. Offside should be just by the position of their hips, cause the hips controls the movement, not the very edge of their body parts.
