PING EYE2 what a great club! I have a set of white dots from the 80's. I don't play them much anymore but you have me jonesin' to play them now.

I still play them. Best wedges ever. SW has 57.5 loft. Perfect for most players.

i have the PM grind lob wedge, i love the sole design as im a steeper full shot player but have a good short game and play lots of different shots, ive never had problems finding good sand wedges and gap wedges for bounce angles and desired reliefs for shot variety, but with lob wedges i always had trouble as i loved lower bounce wedges with heel relief but on approach shots i could knife under the ball as where i live it can be wet for 1/2 of our golf season, so the pm grind although ugly as sin has really allowed me to confidently play full shots but even on tighter lies i can open the club up and flop if need be or the lower hop and stop shots

Great video. It's fun to go over Icons of History. You might want to actually have both an Eye2 and Eye2+ sand wedge. According to PING the Eye2 SW has a 13* bounce and the LW has an 18* bounce (as PING "measured" it). The Eye2+ is considerably narrower in the first and second cutback. I have had both clubs for years. It was that second cutback (and the hosel, as you said) that was the coveted design of the club. Many Tour players who used a large bounce (and couldn't use PING ie endorsements) had the spit ground out of their wedge. What is really weird...the PING Slider 3.0 Eye2 has a viciously narrow 1st and "2nd bounce", with most of the meat gone from the second. The Slider Eye2 doesn't lay open in that familiar ugly way of the Eye2 and the feel is totally different. If PING wants to get real, they need to actually look at the clubs their Marketeers are claiming to reproduce.

Great video - blast from the past! Could you please go over the 'concave' sole? the concave sole (CS) was also in the original PM grind wedge (not high toe but that CS!) I could never understand it because I thought if you opened up the wedge the CS would add huge amount of bounce (so great out of the bunker but problematic on hard pan for flop shot?) yet Phil designed it and he was able to do basically everything with that grind. Phil also said that the new PM grind was changed so that (to paraphrase) less talented players could use its versatility. Thanks again! :D

What is in your opinion the closest to the ping eye 2 lob? The glide 2.0 the 3.0 any other?

I still play the ping eye 2 lob wedge; makes bunker play easy!

With the new Glide 3.0 Eye2 coming out, do you think ping will ever come out with a version with the full groove face like the PM/High Toe?

I have 6 sets of clubs and in each set I have Ping Eye 2 PW, SW, & LW. Only one of my 6 sets are Eye 2 clubs, the rest being 4 other brands, along with a set of Eye 2 clone 5~9 irons They are the ONLY wedges I trust around the green.

Dude farts at 3:21 and doesnt skip a beat LOL! The Eye 2 irons were so great and still are because of the grooves and their spacing which gave the amateur golfer some serious backspin the plus are the irons where they conformed to the PGA rules and the Eye 2 +no+ were the best of both but still questionable Because of the grooves spacing!

I played modern clubs the last few years which I hated. At the end of last season I threw my eye2s back in. Instantly I was nailing every iron shot. New irons with their crazy loft jacking just are not as fun to play. New 7 irons have similar approach to old 3 irons. Eye2 ahhh comfy
