Our worship services were held in a small church with a pump organ. The church was built on pilings over Lake Pontachartrain. We were served by a Pastor from New Orleans who came out on Monday evenings to lead us in worship. We used the vesper service which ended with the nunc dimitis. It alway seemed to me that I was ready to depart in peace according to the Lord having had the privilege of worshiping God in such a poor but wonderful setting.. At certain times of the year we would see the sun setting as the service concluded. It was truly a thrilling experience. The church blew down in a hurricane in 1947 and we met for years in the homes of church members. We moved to a garage for our services and in the 1960s we built a new church. Gone were the vespers but those words have been with me my entire life even during my days "truck driving."

Chad, I have a cronological question about the 40 days. When Jesus was born the Wise men didn't get to Bethlehem for awhile. Once arrived they were told in a dream to go back a different way. Joseph had a dream to flee to Egypt as Herod was going to murder children 2 years old and younger. So how long would it take for Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus to get to Egypt and back after the Wise men came to see him. Isn't Ephaney when the Wise men arrived?

Epiphany is celebrated on January 6, but it remembers events that happened probably a couple of years after Jesus’ birth. So the manger scenes with Magi there, while well-meaning, are historically inaccurate. We don’t know how long the family stayed in Egypt.

@@chadbird1517 Thank you, and he was NOT born on December 25th.

The gospels seem to contradict on this early timeline, but most likely Jesus was purified, they fled to Egypt, then Jesus was dedicated at the Temple when they passed through Jerusalem on their way to Galilee.

I've often wondered: If Jesus was so great, why did he have to get baptized by John the Baptist?
@elizabethking5523 Жыл бұрын
Friend, He came to us in the flesh to be The example of how to live. He gave us the sacraments to help us maneuver through this life. 😊 He didn’t have to be baptized, because of who He is, He lived out what He asks us to do. Were you able to listen to the video? He didn’t have to be presented in the temple either, He is the King of Heaven and All that was made!🙏🏻❤️ He loves you. He’s waiting for you. He is a prayer away. I Pray you find him. Blessings to you!😊

@@elizabethking5523 Thank you for the answer, which brings up another question: As Jesus did not have to be presented in the temple because He is King of Heaven and all that was made, then would it stand to reason that Mary His Mother, being the virgin mother (most everyone who calls themselves Christian believes in the Virgin Birth) being conceived without Original Sin, would not have had to fulfill the rite of ritual purification that was customary back then? It seems to me that the Virgin Birth, in which Mary retained her virginity before, through, and after the birth of Jesus, would exempt her from going through the ritual purification. Then add to that her Immaculate Conception, and it seems to me that she had no need to partake in that ritual. Thank you.

@@bengoolie5197 , oh hey,😃 right, it’s the same. It’s the same logic. she is the first to say yes to the Messiah (and to come through her. ) she too,as the example. she is fully human and followed the Jewish laws. ❤️Jesus and Mary kept the laws. 🙏🏻😊Blessings to you!

Jesus was not born December 25th, Easter was the name of a pagan goddess of fertility and sex. Neither holiday was celebrated by the Israelites nor by the early apostles. Both holidays are repulsive to YHWH just as the golden calf in the desert at Mount Sinai. He specifically said how to worship him in the prophetic feasts in Leviticus 23 and the plan of salvation through his Anointed One, Yeshua(Joshua), through these festivals. Four of which have been fulfilled precisely on time with his first coming. Therefore, the last three pertaining to his second coming, will be fulfilled precisely on time too. Celebrating unauthorised man made holidays, compromising his Word, is not how God and His Saviour told us to anticipate the return of our Messiah.

Mary, if you’re willing to consider an objection to your views, here is an article I’ve researched and written on one of the subjects that you brought up: www.1517.org/articles/does-christmas-pass-the-smell-test-for-paganism
