Why Was Mystery 101 Cancelled by Hallmark?

Super insane decision... that and Crossword Mysteries, Matchmaker Mysteries ... Ruby Herring... The BEST couple chemistry Mysteries with cool stories canceled just blows my mind.

I know their decision is quite foolish because those mystery series were so enjoyable to watch. They could have at least made the last episode for each series to put all the fans' mind to rest.

I do not get why they ended any of them. Let alone why they wanted to let Mystery 101 end on such a bad note. How can fans invest in any of their new mysteries when the rug can get pulled out from under them at the worst time?

@@JoleneDaviesITKWJ I have been binge-watching the Garage Sale Mysteries movies and they are also amazing. Hannah Swenson is next up. Of course, Mystery 101 is still my favorite. 😢 The romance, chemistry, and joie de vie were next level on it.

@@EclecticPop I didn't like the latest Hannah Swensen reboot... Crossword Mysteries, 101, Matchmaker, Ruby & Aurora were faves of mine. I'll Re watch Crossword a million times. Have you read the books 101 is loosely based on? By Maggie Barbieri... They're entertaining!! Garage Sale mysteries were enjoyable too. I loved them all!

This is a good point. Not sure how a prequel would work, though. How do we keep the magic that is Amy and Travis' relationship? Since the cast's willingness to continue was not the issue, this cancellation is all the more frustrating.

HM seems to be losing all the good scripts and its many great mystery movie series like Mystery 101, Crossword Mysteries, and bringing in weird paranormal series like The Way Home or programming that doesn’t support traditional family values - (talk about shooting themselves in the foot several times over)! The 2023 ‘Cases of Mystery Lane’ is fantastic with a great cast and script, hopefully they won’t shut it down too.

Loved "Cases of Mystery Lane," too. I wish they would make another one. It felt like the start to a good series. Also nice to see an established married couple work through their issues instead of calling it quits. Not too mention how pleasant it was not to wonder if the main couple were getting together.

Their new mysteries suck. Mystery 101 acting and writing and filming felt like a step or two or three above their other mysteries. It was one of the few things Hallmark still had going for it after all their values shifted. So I now have the dvd set and dont have to worry about keeping up with Hallmark movies anymore

Fortunately I have copies of them all and continue to rewatch and enjoy them. As for the last episode, that last couple minutes, I don't watch. Why bother? We already have the happy ending just prior to that last (unlrealistic) bit. So if Hallmark doesn't come back with a return, then we already have enjoyable, fun, terrific episodes to enjoy with these two characters (and talented actors!). :-)

They basically cancelled all of that slate and created all new, though I've yet to see all of the new ones. It seems Hallmark will have a show go maybe 6 movies and then end them. The only one that's gone beyond that was Aurora.

I liked the Cases of Mystery Lane and Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths. But I don't want to get too invested because things seem so up in the air with the fate of their mystery movie series. Ready for a New Garage Sale Mystery since yesterday. Hoping Hallmark stops the ridiculousness that is their seeming ban on Lori Loughlin.

Cross word mysteries and mysteries 101 are my favorites...I know they are a publics favorite so yes why were they canceled...Hallmark has replaced alot of my favorite female and male actors so I don't watch Hallmark as much any more...I am saddened by this but I can't seem to get in to the new characters new actors...I love Hallmark channels but sadly I will not be watching as much...

Losing many fan favorites to GAF has really hurt Hallmark. Maybe even more than they anticipated. At the same time, they seem to be barely using the actors they have managed to keep. Hence, developing new actors is not as much a choice as it is necessary. I'm glad they're using Corey Sevier more, and Rhiannon Fish is a wonderful new addition. Hopefully, they can keep her. She has been in GAF movies too.

I believe Jill Wagner is working for the Great American Country (GAC) network? I’m 99% sure she is so, that’s why her contributions to this series have ended.

To my knowledge, Jill Wagner has not signed an exclusive talent deal with GAC. She addressed this on social media a while back, stating that her doing movies for GAC was not impacting her working with Hallmark too. Don't use social media, can just about use You Tube! It drives me up the wall when they scrap something I like! Maybe my preferrences aren't violent enough! Seems like blood and gore or mind numbing reality! are the preferrence nowadays. I watched tv to get away from reality. These so called celebritys! Who are nothing but wannabes. We need more! Actors who perform not just pose!. Mystery 101 had actors who made you believe in characters, that is a rare talent which should not be lost!

I respectfully disagree. Hallmark movies' scripting is more on point, and it is refreshing to see some not use the "1:45 misunderstanding" to fuel the ending. That said, the couplings of late have left much to be desired. There is no way they would be or stay together in real life. Case and point, "Love's Greek to Me."

@@agostinosperanza2546 I totally appreciate your opinion. 😊 Mine is just mine. 😅 I'm just a girl on the internet haha. There are definitely two issues at play in the Hallmark movies. The actors' chemistry and the characters. There have been times I loved the actors' chemistry (Two Tickets to Paradise), but I still didn't think the characters made for a lasting match. 😬 Their philosophies didn't add up. For me, it takes both to make these Hallmark couplings work. That is what made Mystery 101 so special to me. Amy+Travis were the perfect example of having both in spades. 🤗

Not according to Jill Wagner, who posted some of the vague reasons. It was strictly a network decision, though. Hope that clears things up. 🔎
