You young pilots got it easy these days. When I first started flying helis all we had were the large Nitro power ones. No stabilization, no learning curve just start up and Sink or swim lol lol . I am glad we have this technology now , makes it easier for people to get into the hobby.

The fact that you could crash this heli and get it back up and running with no money spent is awesome. It used to not be this easy to fix helicopters. Go look up X cell 60 nitro heli. When that thing crashes your wallet is going to be alot lighter lol lol .

Thank you for your videos! They are great. I learned to fly many years ago and they didn't have all the assist capabilities of the latest helis. Helis are just fragile by their very nature and you need to practice fundamentals without all that assist. The first thing you need to learn to do is hover and land. All the assist you get with that heli stunts your growth and your ability to actually fly. Once you learn to actually hover and land you should proceed in flying in figure-8s around you so you get used to the controls with the heli going away from you and coming towards you. One of the biggest things with line of sight flying is training your mind to adjust the stick inputs depending on the orientation of the heli. I would pick-up something with a carbon-fiber tail instead of that flimsy foam. You will also want to be able to have main blades that can have it's pivot points easily popped back in when you crash. That helis beautiful but can't take a crash. One of the Blade skill level 1 RTF helis would be much better option if you want to really learn to fly. They are designed to take more of a beating and be snapped back in most cases during most crashes. I believe that initial crash was caused by the wind pushing you down while you were at a pretty low altitude. That crash I believe impacted your gyro and it just got progressively worse. It may have also been lose or vibrating after that crash which would have made it less stable and predictable.
@GSG-lc5zm
@GSG-lc5zm 4 күн бұрын
I agree.. I learned before all the assist stuff infact some of the first ones I flew didn't even have gyros .. but after I got stable and figured out where ground effect/rotor wash came into play.. I could chase my cat UNDER the dinner table (with the micron) 🤣😂

I wish they just issue pod and boom versions of these. Without the stupid toy looking body they fly much better and can take slower speed crashes very well.

@disciplinerc 3 күн бұрын
Wow dude, thank you so much for that explanation. It makes sense how it got progressively worse. I appreciate the tips on what to get and how to practice. I'll have to look further into a proper carbon tail like you suggested. What size would you recommend? Some people have also mentioned sims to practice on, any you can recommend on rainy days? 😁👌

If this is your first RC flight, there are better learning based models. Check out the WLtoys helicopters and the Volantex warbird Rc planes both very durable with flight modes for beginner intermediate and advanced, plus replacement parts are easy to find and dirt cheap. You seem like a natural pilot so please stick with it. RC aviation can be very rewarding and fun.

I have the Huey, arrived yesterday. I noticed when first installing the battery it can move forward easy, maybe breaking connection, first flight it dropped out of the air into a hedge at 2 bars on the battery at the exact same time the controller started to beep, I thought it must have been crappy AAs in the controller, but once replaced with a completely new set- different packet purchased last week, it still beeped and didnt want to fly, second battery it was all good.. but I guess its either the battery vibrating forward or flight time is really 8 min even and a slow crawl around my front yard.

At the very least thankfully you are learning with a helicopter that size had it been a much larger one you would have got yourself hurt or broken a lot more parts which would've been terrible all around Aaron. Have you ever considered getting yourself a simulator like Realflight Evolution? They are very helpful to learn whether you are dealing with planes or helicopters?

I got the rc era c123 (ec135 with ducted tail rotor) which is built a bit similarly, tried to do the scripted flippy with the trim button on the rc era controller and managed to do inverted no problem....but coming out of inverted took so long to finally activate then when it did it just made a real goofy swoop in a stupid mess and it crashed on top. Now the main shaft is a little bent (there's no replacements available that i know of that come without the motor making it a bit of an expensive pain, you may get the same issue since this also has direct drive main motor) and it vibrates a bit. Still flyable but of course, one of the blades just decided to unscrew off the hub the blade grip along with linkage and blade and it shot off somewhere, still can't find it. Also I very much dislike the extremely slow descent rate as well as the auto jump up. I want full control so i don't need special environment before using it. I would rather just spend money on a bind and fly edition for a regular radio protocol and channel instructions and manage the curves and stick actions myself like traditional helis instead of these pre programmed actions that seem a bit unreliable/predictable than ones own skills. As well as just these RTF radios now that forego displays. Something like the WLtoys V931 was able to afford years ago for much less. The 'smart'/'beginner' gimmicks on these is still far from worth taking for granted, despite how nice they look. Which is a shame because nobody wants their scale bodies and details repeatedly requiring repairs and replacements. It helps to learn on difficult helis first in a sim / low cost environment (like a micro 3d heli over tall and thick grass). then scale dashing and swooping will be a breeze.

Cheers man, good tip. I'll be more gentle with the next one. Before the last crash, the thing was out of my control. Flew backward at full speed, wouldn't auto land and then flew forward full tilt into the ground. Really unsure why it became unresponsive, but I assume it was due to the impacts previously. Next go around I'll be more cautious and call it a day if I wreck 😕
