So good that you got the Ford van when you did because now it is impossible to find a nice used van.

Two of my favourite and reliable cars have been Fords, so if I was looking for a van they would be my top of the list. Looking at the inside of your van there seems plenty of room and if you are getting good economy too, you are on to a winner for your needs. Nice that you can transform it to the exact way you want it, looks like you have the best of all worlds with your van, cheers Alan

Very cool! We just got back from an adventure out west - we flew out to the Pacific Northwest to do some hiking for 2 weeks and our rental car was a Ford Escape and we LOVED it! -

Just more info for those who may be interested. I've been a fulltime vanlifer for the last 4.5 years and I have a Ram Promaster Cargo Van -High Top,1500, 2017 Model. The van gives me between 17 to 17.6 mpg going 70 + on good roads. I'm 6 ft 2 in , has a lot of Styrofoam and other insolation in the van and can still stand up straight in my sneakers in the van. My bed is in the back east-west . I can fit in east-west but it is too tight a fit to be really comfortable . I sleep diagonally with room to spare. The headlights gave me some issues and eventually I replaced both . It was about $350 for both on Amazon and I did the work myself. I got the vehicle at 33K miles and it has just passed 100K. Runs like a top. I replace oil every 5K with synthetic oil ($120-130) . Its easy to drive , easy to park and sitting higher up than usual (sedan car) makes it even easier in my opinion. I'll have a hard time going back to a sedan car. Hope you can use this.

Congrats on your successful almost 5 year adventure! Wow - we are super jealous! We do not live in our van - but LOVE hearing about success stories such as yours. Wow - it sounds like your van is super roomy! We opted for the midroof because we are both about 5'5" - and there is plenty of room for us to stand comfortably - we were concerned with clearance issues so we just went with minimal that we needed to be able to stand. (which is a HUGE bonus in the taller vans in our opinions) Awesome that you are handy enough to do some DIY things on the van - that is sure to be helpful! We get around 18-20mpg in the van on the highway - depending on the terrain - We agree 100% with you about keeping up with maintenance. We have put almost 40,000 miles on the van in the 2 years that we have had it - and have been very pleased with the performance. The biggest upgrade we did was add better tires - the ones that were on it were a bit to "sedan" like for us - so we went with larger, better tread tires to help during rain (and occasional snow). Thank you for sharing your information on the Promaster! We had a hard time deciding back and forth between the transit ant the promaster - both seemed to have some real strong positive points! Happy & safe travels!

Nice van! The last place you should take anything to get worked on is a Ford stealership.

Love at first sight! Great to hear about your research and esp the comparison of Ford dealer availability and lower cost of maintenance. I think it also helps that you don’t live it in year round, so it’s not on the road everyday. Happy Adventuring!! 😄🌻🌻🌻

Thanks for watching! Yes - for us - this was the route to go - it felt like a lot of pressure to make such a big decision in the beginning, but so far we have LOVED the van. We keep up with maintenance and yes, you are right, we do not live in in year round and they may very well have made a difference in our choice. We went with the shorter wheel base to help with gas mileage, etc - but if were in it full time, we are sure MORE space would be always helpful.

We love our van! We have been very pleased with the dealership that we obtained the van. We have heard that is not the case always, unfortunately. But we think that is across the board with most car makes.

Hello Shannon and Karen: I really love your videos. I also have a Ford Transit cargo van . Mine is a 2018 medium roof 150 with a 148" wheel base. I also have a non-build. I use a narrow twin cot lengthwise behind the driver's seat and put up wire shelving on opposing sides at the back for my gear which leaves me with a great big aisle for using the back doors. I think ya'll (sorry I'm from SC - haha) decided not to put a roof fan in. I haven't yet but I'm thinking about it. How do you do on hot days? Have you considered putting in a roof fan at all or do you feel like you really don't need it? Most van camper people swear by them. I have been getting by with USB chargeable fans and after the sun goes down, it's not too bad. I'm thinking of buying a Titan window fan to stick in the window for more airflow (and it can reverse air as well), I know you use the big magnetic screens but you can't always do that for stealth or safety reasons. What say you? Thanks P.S. I get around 16 mph around town. I'm hoping to get 18+ mph when I do start my travels.

Hello! Thanks for joining us! We do just fine without the roof fan - we had heard/seen too many issues with leaking after time with those that again we opted out - we are not fans about altering the van with things like that - We use our screens (this video shows them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJyuipJsa8Stmrcsi=EFZfCLLwimfAYgRa) and either rechargeable fans or regular fans (depending on the power options of where we are) and are just fine! Happy travels!

I’ve been on the fence as to what van I wanted. Your series has been so helpful! A mid roof, 250 with 130WB no build is an exactly what I want as my retirement gift to myself. Thank you for your insight and info. Do you use as a daily driver? I’m debating if I want to sell my car ( I’m spoiled with the Tesla 110+ mpg equivalent 😊) Take care and wishing you many happy adventures!!

HI! So glad to know our video has helped you! We only use Fran for our adventures. She goes on some of our day hikes with us or day trips, but mostly we use her for camping and grand adventures! We both have our cars, but have talked about going down to one car since we also have Fran....Thanks again for watching!!! Happy New Year!

Yes, it was a used, Enterprise Cargo Van that we purchased at a Ford Dealership. This particular dealership had several ex "work" vans when we first started looking.
