As a retired engineer, I'm going to point out there's a huge difference between a vehicle being able to tow 3.5t and being able to do so safely in conditions other than a dry windless day on a test circuit. I've seen too many idiot combinations out there on our roads that have got hapless folks into huge trouble. People need to do their research, sure, but manufacturers and retailers should also behave responsibly (or forced to do so by regulation). Your decision to find something that is well within the capabilities of your tow vehicle such that you are comfortable with your towing experience is absolutely the right thing to do, and the fact that you made a point of this is testament to making the safest decision for yourselves and others on the roads. Kudos for setting a really great example and I hope others see this and take a critical point from your video!

Yes 100% agree with you about being able to tow a 3.5t van. And yes manufacturers and retailers should know better. maybe one day they will bring in regulations. Now that we have grown from the camper trailer to a caravan we are staying in more caravan parks (not our preferred however in many places we have been there are very very few FREE camps). And in the caravan parks we have seen some bloody big units. Far too big for us.

A few $s in those 5 items that weren't needed on your trip 🤔🤔. Noticed use have a Mchitch on the draw bar of the van I like mine ease of use ...do have an option of the Machitch..

Manufacturers have been churning out rubbish since COVID. The heartbreaking stories I’ve read and viewed are legion. I decided on a year 2000 used 13 footer and a 1997 Land Cruiser. It’s a solid a combination without bells and whistles and it does the job. All up with some new appliances the truck and van was around $20K.
@GayandCarolАй бұрын
We could not agree more with you. Love how you spent minimal amount on an old Land Cruiser and a 13 footer. We cannot see the value on most newer models. ❤❤

Well done ladies I think the main import thing your out there doing in comfort now. We love our caravan it so much easier to tow and to set up. While you are travelling if you get tired you can just pull over where it’s safe and rest and your not playing or fighting with a heaps of canvas. The ensuite is a massive game changer specially for you ladies where you feel safe and not doing your business in the middle of bush somewhere where there is peeping toms out there like Ed😂. We would love to travel full time on the road but it’s hard at the moment with our parents cause they are at that age now but we could do shorter trips away. We use to have a pop top and we owned it for 15 1/2 years and done so many memorable trips with our 2 boys we did 58000 km in 15 months with the 4 of us pulling it with a old Gen 2 Pajero and you had to drive it by the temperature gauge and now we can’t wait to get back out there and do it again. it’s a fantastic lifestyle and it’s so great to see so many people enjoying themselves travelling in there own country and seeing what life it offers them. Thanks ladies for a wonderful video about your caravan. ❤🇦🇺🐶

I think you hit the nail on the head with easy to tow AND setup. 100% agree it is muh easier to pull over somewhere for a snack, lunch or other. We are loving the caravan lifestyle. So much more we feel we can do. Hahahaha we definately do not need any peeping toms. Yes it is so much fun caravaning around seeing our own backyard.

Hi Carol and Gay 😉I'm with you on the no gas, Gay. I've always disconnect the gas from all of the caravans I've owned. I hate the smell of it, and having seen a caravan burn to the ground within minutes scared me enough to never want it in my own. I look forward to watching your USA adventures. I've done the entire length of Route 66 and a lot more of America too. I drove from Oregon to Chicago across the top states and Route 66 from Chicago back to LA including over the infamous Donner Pass in a 1953 Hudson Hornet ("Doc Hudson") towing a vintage caravan. Best road trip ever! I'm curious about the composting toilet...a few people have mentioned them but I admit I have no idea how they work so would be interested in learning more about that. I'm super vintage style so my toilet is an old anodised aluminium potty stashed under a milk crate with a cover on it that I put on top of the milk crate to use, then pour into a wide mouthed stainless steel bottle. For number 2's I usually use public toilets or campground amenities but in a pinch I line the potty with a biodegradable plastic bag that I then either bury or dispose of in a bin. 😂
@GayandCarolАй бұрын
Wow your adventures sound amazing. We were lucky to have someone look after our dogs when we travelled o/s. Now we don't have that luxury. And we would rather travel with Toby whilst we can. Overseas adventures can wait a little while. We talk a lot about our Route 66 adventures. We had a van called 'Starstruck'. It was painted in all colours with lots of stars. So we have not actually used our compost toilet yet. We have been staying in places that have toilets (lucky us). It saves time by not having to dispose the bags etc. And saves on cleaning. Our works with peat and a compostable bag. For number 1's it can be poured down a toilet. Why caravans are still being manufactured with gas is beyond us. Considering there are more disconnections in homes than in new connections. We would love to have a caravan without gas. It will happen one day. 😀

Hi Gay and Carol or Hi Carol and Gay😃yes you definitely bought the right van. You can’t tell me those pop tops keep the van warm in winter. Not sure about the compost toilets. I like to pee standing 🤣 When are you girls finishing the road trip? I’m going back to Goomburra Valley campground next week for my 69th Birthday. Might buy some more tickets in the meat raffle. Enjoy the rest of your journey.

Happy birthday and lucky you going back to Goomburra Valley Campground. We actually have not used our compost toilet. Everywhere we have stayed has toilets. We still have a few weeks to go. Going south now stopping in little towns. We could do with winning a meat raffle. We wanted to do a beef spit, only there is no beef avilable. So cake it is lol 💕

hey girls how did you have the courage to show all your love as a gay couple in your city without being denigrated? I'm a passive effeminate gay man, I'm 47 years old and I think I was already gay at the venerable age of 14/15 because I've always been attracted to men, I only saw women as friends and that's it and then I never saw myself as convinced heterosexual but I thought I was bisexual then talking to some girls they realized I was gay because they said to me are you gay right and I didn't know what to answer but they told me I was more of a woman than a man maybe it was because of my feminine side that came out! I live in the countryside and I don't know what to do. I would like to post a video on my KZbin channel but I don't let people assume that I'm gay and effeminate and that I like sexy clothes and sexy women. lingerie and that I'm a transvestite and instead I talk about farm machinery and trucks and 4x4 off road vehicles!

Hey all we can say is you do you. It's not easy to be in a same sex marriage. We have spent a lot of time working on ourselves. Our own mental health and our goals. It takes lots of work. Crikey you post a lot of videos. The roads are so narrow.

@@GayandCarol thank you very much for the advice yes the Italian roads are narrow I live in a countryside location in the province of Florence called Pontassieve and Florence and my town are in the Tuscany region which is part of the Italian continent!
