6:29 At the risk of over-geeking, the expression you are looking for is thermal capacitance or heat capacity. The value comes from (engineering term) the specific heat of the part material and the mass of part.

@jussimakarussi4 жыл бұрын
Norsii The material is the same as an M-LOK (Aluminium) but the added mass gives it a higher total heat capacity. Also another big reason is quad rails aren't as tight around the barrel giving you a larger volume of air between the rail and barrel.
@maogao974 жыл бұрын
@@whisk3675 I mean yeah, its applied physics (heat transfer) mechanical engineers are the people that really get deep in the world of thermofluids topics. What you mentioned are just some properties. This would be more close to heat transfer with conduction, convection and radiation. You could set up a thermal circuit to solve for the heat loss from the rail and the heat gained from the barrel, but it would be really complex by hand. Running FEA with software would probably yield a better approximation

I always learn something valuable from your videos. I'll never reach the skill levels that you have but with how you share and display what you have learned for others to follow has definitely helped me improve my personal firearm skills noticeably. I in no way shape or form throw lead downrange as prolifically as you do and I definitely don't have the variety of firearms that you use but with my very basic Norinco Sks with iron sights and my Smith and Wesson SD9 VE. I try to have at least a thousand round for each at all times because I practice at least once a week but I don't usually shoot more than 100 rounds from each. Since I started watching your videos I've been able to improve my draw and reduced my Target acquisition time and accuracy overall. I would love to take a few courses from you and or anyone that is a part of your team. That however is something I may never do. Thankfully you put these videos up. Will eat anything I throw at it. Even grouped 2moa with a 5 shot group of 40gr varmint loads, just to see if it could. Seems the 1/7 mil spec twist on shorter barrels can accommodate lighter loads better than longer barrels. Can definitely save ALOT of money buying something to the same specs from another manufacturer or building yourself. If you don’t care about clone correct rails and furniture, you can easily build a Mk 18 inspired build for less than $1000.

3:10 - I don't know much, but I just looked up the Eotech 553, and that does not seem to be it. It looks like the 553 has a long, old-style battery compartment. 5:36 - American manufacturing still hasn't really began using carbon fiber, where-as many places in the world are already manufacturing experts at it - and inexpensively. A m-lok rail made out of CF probably wouldn't impart the heat as much, and it would be a hell of a lot lighter. We are living in an age where AR15 lowers and rails could be made of carbon fiber, and most likely would be battle-tough, but American manufacturing skill lags behind much of the world - hence we still speak about polymer lowers, and aluminum. Instead of m-lok, if one were to make a CF quad-rail as a direct replacement, it would be a lot lighter, and very rigid. Part of this also has to do with how behind the average gun-guy is in understanding where the world is. Hell, we still have people buying non-railed, non-free-floated AK's, then claiming they are up to speed with modern tactical solutions.

What’s your take on running the GEISSELE MK8 rail? I opted for this over a RIS II AND I find that it’s pretty much built like a RIS II but mlok and after firing multiple rounds the rail doesn’t seem to heat up as much, the gun feels lighter up front and the doesn’t have the picatinny eating up my support hand.

Caleb Brinkley that’s the MK16 rail, not the MK8

daniel mir you’re right. The Mk8 is solid and my favorite of the Giessele rail lineup

Caleb Brinkley me too that’s why i want to see Lucas’s take on it compared to the RIS II. It’s solid.

Just thought you might like to know. Ebay has multicam alpine overwhites from Ukraine for like $40 pants and hooded tops. I snagged a pair and they're super good quality. You can also find multicam alpine plate carriers made by stich profi a quality manufacturer who makes custom kit for thier special units in Russia

Would you say the Daniel Defense Mk18 is the best weapon you could pick up for a do all home defense/shtf/go to war weapon? I have the new cz Bren 2 11" Pistol which is fantastic also. I keep going back and forth debating which is the best platform and I keep going back to the Mk18 because of its proven track record. I think with a lmt enhanced bolt carrier group the mk18 cant be beat by any weapon system. What are your thoughts? Is the mk18 the first weapon youd pickup? I know your g19 is your pistol of choice. Thanks for your thoughts and for the great videos!

MK18 is my #1. Bren 2 is close 2nd. Once its got a longer track record of reliability it will become my #1. Its definitely a scar killer!

@@filipinophreak I agrree. Love mine. I also love the Bren 2 Pistol. Its smooth as butter. Handguard on my S model Bren 2 is a little short but its definitely everything the scar 16 should have been. But I always keep the mk18 as the #1.

@@charltont23 once u run optics and lights on a scar the damn thing weighs a prettt good bit.. the scar to me is a battle ready rifle.. mk18 for me is my personal home defense, use at work, take to trips with rifle. Its compact. Just my opinion.

If you buy an Aero Precision lower parts kit, it comes with a trigger that is on par if not better than the ALG QMS trigger, for about the same price, but it comes with a whole LPK.
