I have 2 problems with Frieren, 1st the episodes are too short (20 minutes of episode feels like 5) and 2nd after watching this show every other anime doesn't good enough for me, quality bar is just too high :-D

FFXIV is the real game for Frieren fans. You can make your own Frieren and train her in 8! different mage jobs. Or make Stark as an Axe swinging badass, or Heiter as a healer. I binged the anime in the last week before the last episode came out. It's the most epic and relaxing watch ever. 12/10 😊👍 The end of episode 2 made me cry like a baby. Also it reminds me why i love playing mage in video games. Especially in FFXIV with it's award winning...(please complete the meme yourself). I spent over 1300 hours so far in the free trial alone bringing almost all jobs to level 60 in 20 Fighterjobs, 3 Gathererjobs and 8 Crafterjobs.😁

I don’t hate the dub whatsoever and certain shows I actually prefer dubbed (cowboy bebop for example) but the hardest line in Frieren is when lugner remembers who she is and simply says “Frieren the slayer……one of the geniuses I despise” in Japanese. Shit gave me goosebumps man. It’s also double cool because sosou no Frieren (Frieren the slayer) is the actual Japanese title of the manga/anime so that moment was essentially the title drop for the series .

Thank you. I am so tired of the dub vs sub thing. There are VA's pouring there hearts into bringing the characters to life in English and it is so disrespectful to then for people to say you must only watch sub. A common argument is that "yes, but when the dub is bad then its really bad". Are there bad dubs, ofcourse there is. Bit are there bad subs, also yes. They might not seem as bad to English speaking people as the bad dubs. But if you cant speak Japanese you are not going to pick up on the bad subs as easily. Some anime i prefer in sub and others i prefer in dub. It all comes down to the setting of the anime (i.e. attack on titan is set in a European setting with Mikasa stated to be an outlier of asian decent. So dub it is as it makes more sense) or if i feel the voice of the character suits them better in a particular show. For example, i prefer the sub in frieren as the jp VA sounds more like what i would imagen Frieren to sound like. Does this mean the EN VA did a bad job. No, they did great. I just see the character colser related to the JP VA's voice. Give the dubs some respect. Every anime i watch i try dub and sub and see what language the voices suit the characters and settings best, and thats the one i will watch it in. Sometimes i like both and proceed to watch both then.

I have no idea if this has any merit or not, haven't read the Manga, this is simply my theory, but I think the reason Himmel diminished so much was because he kept the evil aura horn in his cabinet for 5 decades. They even made a comment about is it harmful to humans and the joke was Frieren didn't know. Well. Just look at the guy! He probably would've had at least 20 more years and not lost his stature had he not so faithfully kept the relic safe for his dear friend. Like I said, it's just a theory.

Nice writeup on Frieren. Glad you're enjoying the anime, as well as engaging in Final Fantasy. If you want more quality fantasy game, Baldur's Gate is another fun game. As for another masterclass fantasy anime, the currently airing Dungeon Meshi is great. You will learn there a different take on the usual monster bestiary and top-notch worldbuilding.

Stark is cool and all if we remove the zenitsu cowardice vibes. Not saying it's wrong to be a coward, it's totally fine, it's just how they display them being cowards. I like Eisen, he is a coward but he doesnt have to cry and whine like Stark/Zenitsu. It's like a baby being loud just seeking for attention - totally not necessary. The silver lining is, Stark gains confidence over time. Which is why he's still ok unlike Zenitsu who never shuts up. Demon Slayer would've been a solid 8/10 for me if it wasnt for Zenitsu. Sad how this trait first affected Stark.

One thing you’re incorrect about is how powerful fern is. She did have more mana than the lugner (the blood magic demon guy) but she restricts her mana output to deceive him . That’s why he says “what you do isn’t fair, you’re a disgrace to all mages”. She was stronger than him the entire time but made him think she was weaker, that’s how flamme taught Frieren and that’s how Frieren teaches fern. It wasn’t just her speed, if she didn’t have the mana she wouldn’t be able to launch that many attacks period

Look, I don't mind english dubs most of the times now. They're usually not bad (except for Oshi no Ko's, that one was pretty bad), but I just prefere to watch stuff in their original language. That's not the case when it comes to french dubs though (my mother tongue), cause those are vomit material... I litterally used to hate Anime for the lingest part of my life because I associated every anime to Naruto's French dub that I watched when I was a kid... and the worst part is, I realised recently that it wasn't naruto that I didn't like, it was just the french dub that made it freaking unbearable to watch...

While I tend to watch subbed (because my hearing isn't the greatest), I am in agreement that dubbed anime can be just as good. In one or two cases, like _Cowboy Bebop,_ it can even be better than the original. And on a high percentage of the ones where it isn't... whaddaya know, they suck wind in every language. Fortunately, _Frieren's_ team picked well. Still prefer the original Japanese voices, but the English ones are first-rate.
