Ok, now I want to watch the last episodes of Amphibia. I can relate to Marcy in terms interests and insecurities when it comes to social life. While Marcy might be coded as neurodivergent by fans, I’m autistic myself and she’s one of my favorite characters.

I definitely love Marcy Regina Wu for her smarts, her escapism, her clumsiness, and especially with how relatable she was. It was sad to see that Anne and Sasha didn't seem to care about Marcy's interest, even though they clearly cared about her. Sometimes, it could hurt a friendship if friends can not find common ground, but friends don't need to like the same things in order to be friends. This is a lesson that Marcy learns the hard way by realizing that forcing her friends to do what she wanted was wrong. I also liked the lessons that Marcy would come to learn in Amphibia, even though they were hard lessons. Such as what happened in the first temple and especially what happened in true colors. True colors still tends to be the episode that was the breaking point of many characters, with Marcy being no exception. Despite Marcy running away to Amphibia to escape the reality of moving away, and forcing Anne and Sasha to come with her to avoid possibly losing her best friends, she didn't really deserve the bad things that happened to her in true colors and beyond. Andrias betraying Marcy and telling her secret to Anne and Sasha, Andrias stabbing her in the back nearly killing her, literally facing an embodiment of her worst fear of losing her friendship with Anne and Sasha forever, and being forcibly possessed by the core into becoming Darcy with some memory loss. Fortunately, Marcy does learn from her mistakes, faces the reality of her situation with courage, and apologized to Anne and Sasha. I was even glad that Marcy at least said goodbye to Andrias because despite making terrible choices when it came to Marcy, he did genuinely care about her and ultimately regretted what he did to her. Whether or not Marcy forgave Andrias, she at least acknowledged how he tried to make amends, which Andrias obviously felt was more than what he deserved. I especially loved Marcy's journal, as it provided valuable insight into Marcy's character that wasn't fully touched upon in the series. The journal even more or less revealed that Marcy is actually the oldest of the calamity trio by her astrology sign. I am ultimately glad that despite moving away, Marcy was able to adjust well to her new living arrangements and even make new friends. She even got therapy and had a healthy long-distance friendship with Anne and Sasha, where she didn't have to keep in touch with them too often. Sometimes, that's how life is, but it is nice that despite drifting apart, Marcy, Sasha, and Anne were still able to remain friends. With Sasha Elizabeth Waybright and Marcy Regina Wu both having their own separate character analysis video, all that's left is a character analysis video for Anne Savisa Boonchuy.

We need a Marcy Wu spin off where it takes place during the 10 year gap it can explore the relationship with her parents and making new friends in Hopkinton, Massachusetts and she slowly reveals about her time in amphibia and Marcy having trauma relapses a good representation on how trauma never goes away and it will always be apart of her plus we can put the abusive Marcy parents theory to rest and laugh at anyone’s face who thinks that they are abusive

As someone who has lost or disconnected from almost every friend I’ve ever had each time I had to move or transfer to a new school, I can really understand Marcy’s fear.

I like Marcy because despite all of her flaws (of which I don't always like to acknowledge, I'll admit), she's a genuinely sweet, loving and adorable girl who never fails to make me laugh and activates every single protective instinct in my body, to the point I wish I could give her everything she could ever want. I understand that pretty much completely goes against the theme of the show and her character specifically (even if I think what she wants isn't bad by itself, that being to still be friends with Anne and Sasha, just the way she went about it), but it is what it is. I love her for my own reasons and nobody can change that, though I still respect people who love her for more complex reasons.
@zexalbrony47995 күн бұрын
I agree with all of that. I love Marcy too. She's a precious little cinnamon bun. And your right she is genuinely sweet and loving girl as we saw in Season 2 when she hanged out with Anne and the Plantars, that wasn't an act that was who she genuinely was, one of the biggest example of that is her first day in Wartwood she genuinely wants to be friends with the town people and not hurt them because of how much they mean to Anne and in turn she herself cares about Anne. Another example is how she tells Anne to go with the Plantars and to follow her heart, she does this despite her own insecuirties and fear of losing Anne, and Sasha too, because she wants to Anne to be happy and the Plantars make her her happy so she lets her go despite knowing how lonely she'll be without and thus puts her in an emotional unstable state which Adrias uses to manipulate her leading to True Colors, so in highsight it would have been better for Marcy selfish in this instance and have Anne stay so Adrias couldn't manipulate her, but highsight is 20 20 as the old saying goes. It also helps that I can really relate to Marcy, and by extension Luz from the Owl House given how similar those two are, both adorable loving little nerds and I adore them. That's why I get so defensive when some fans think the stuff Marcy did was way worse then the stuff Sasha did. Now don't get me wrong, Marcy made some mistakes and does share some of the blame in some of the bad stuff that happen in Amphibia, but its nowhere near as bad as Sasha. Now this isn't a knock against Sasha, I like her, but its very clear she had the most growing to do in Amphibia and that, while Anne and Marcy do share some of the blame for the toxic nature of their friendship, the biggest blame goes to Sasha with her bully and controling nature. We see that first hand again in Season 2, as without Sasha around, Anne and Marcy's dynamic and friendship is pretty healthy. And lets be honset, if both Marcy and Sasha revealed the truth of what they were planning to Anne before the events of True Colors, her reactions would be obviouse and very telling about which of the two is worse. For Marcy, keep in mind Marcy doesn't know about Adrias plan for conquest and stuff, as far as she knows they'll just get to keep having fun adventures and no is going to get hurt everyone will be happy and they get to keep in touch and keep hanging out with their friends and found families from Amphibia, so if she told Anne all that and about knowing the Music Box might actually work, then Anne would be hurt of course, but she would understand why Marcy did it, espcially if Marcy calmly explains it to Anne about how feelings and fears, and gvien her great sense of empthay and commpassion she'd reassure Marcy that while she is hurt and upset that she still cares about Marcy and doesn't hate her for this, it would be very similar to her forgiving Hop Pop for lying about hiding Music Box. Because you're right her desire to want to still be friends with Anne and Sasha isn't bad itself, its just the way she went about it was wrong. As for Sasha, if she told Anne about her plans to overthrow Adrias and cause a Toad Rebellion, you can 100% sure Anne would not be okay with that and not be understanding or commpassionet to that plan at all because its evil and insane. Now in highsight its not as evil because they'd be overthrowing Adrias who is evil, but again the characters don't know he's evil, as far as the girls, the Plantars, and Grime know Adrias is mostly good dude, so trying to overthrow him is seen as evil, and the plan still would be kind of evil because Sasha and Grime would just replace him as a dictator although not as bad as Adrias.

Marcy was definitely my favorite character in Amphibia. It was heartbreaking to witness her pain in the show. I felt Marcy’s pain when the helmet lowered because I remember feeling that at Stitch’s Great Escape when the shoulder restraints lowered on us (an old Disney attraction, formerly alien encounter). Plus, she was only 13…that same thing happened with Ty in Grossology! If I had a nickel for every time a 13yo was possessed in a kids cartoon I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice, right? All in all, Marcy is definitely the best character. I can sometimes relate because I have autism too and sometimes like trying to interest others in my favorite stuff and some stuff we’ve got in common too.

I love her because I understand her, I pity her. I know how awfully lonely, rejected and scared she felt, because I'm like her and I lived almost the same things (except Marcy have always have good friends that love her). The world is such a strange, cruel and hard to hold place, specially for the utterly intense, naïve and goodhearted gifted kids. Human cruelty is so eroding for innocent souls. We must create our own safe inner world or fall into the well of depresion, insanity and suicide, and when you own such inmense imagination is so easy getting lost inside... Marcy suffered more than she ever would be able to deserve.

And another nice and thorough analysis! Although Marcy's "no" to Aldrich made a little change on the global scale of the final battle, it is still good yet bittersweet to see her rejecting the Core's promises and doing what is right while not even counting on any reward. She knows that her friendship and connection with Anne and Sasha is probably broken and her experience in Amphibia supports her fear that will not be able to make a truly strong friendship with anyone other than these two... And yet in the end she does the right thing for the sake of others.

After my last day of school, I spent around a week in a fantasy like world where I enjoyed not being in school and turned down the opportunity to go again that few weeks. Now, I wish I took the opportunity. I still hold on to some of my memories but I have mostly moved on.

You know, after watching this video I finally understand why I like Marcy and Amphibia more, than I the Owl House and Luz I when I watched the Owl House, I could connect at all to Luz, even though she is so similar to me as a child. her quest to be understood and accepted should have touched me, but it never did. it always felt forced. like they were trying too hard. and I especially didn't like how she just became a witch. Is because the Owl House always gave me the feeling that "Oh, you will find your people. You are so unique and special. Is so amazing and okay to get yourself in your fantasy world and stay there". Is like the Owl House was saying that, not only be inside my head was okay, but that the people that will understand you exists outside of reality. I know that was probably not the intention of the show. but the owl house made me so uncomfortable bc it felt like they wanted to keep me and their audience in the fantasy world. like they wanted us to stay in this escapism and I think I like Marcy and Amphibia alot more, because it does the opposite. the solution of Marcy doesnt come from escaping to Amphibia. Just like Luz, she finds her people, is popular, adored and respected in Amphibia. but she only grows when she leaves her fantasies and faces reality and listen, I don't think get yourself into a fantasy a bad thing. But it is a sliperry slope when you do it. and while I feel The Owl House and Luz was an incentive to fall into this slope of dissassociation and fantasy, Amphibia and Marcy just show us that "yeah, having hobbies and having fantasies are amazing, but you can't STAY there. the real world is just as amazing as the fantasy. you can grow up and still be understood. the solution is not to stay in the fantasy" I hope I made some sense. I just never liked how Luz just found all the solution to her problens at 14, in a fantasy world. Is not a issue for stories to do that, but I admit now, after watching amphibia, the isekai genre and stories like Luz's just rubs me the wrong way

She almost reminds me of Rigby in the Regular Show movie when he decided to change Mordecai acceptance letter because he was afraid of losing the ONLY friend he had, but then he realized that he needed to apologize and take responsibility, even if it meant losing him. And Mordecai realized that work isn’t everything and that life is something that should be shared with your best friend and loved ones and that HE is responsible for the outcome of HIS LIFE

Good video Mind you I do have a LOT of problems in regards to how Marcy was handled throughout the show(barely anyone caring after she got stabbed, her being possessed being an excuse to keep her out of the core, her never getting any real victory against the people who hurt her, how the show kinda scapegoats her, that she’s treated more like a plot device for other characters than a person in her own right, and despite learning to embrace change, it dosent change the fact that she ends up in a situation she was terrified of) But still, good job

Gal & Molly Jo.” But I like Marcy Wu a whole lot because she’s… she’s so Sweet, Smart, Pure, Precious, Lovable, Kind, Innocent, Good, Devoted, Cute & Adorable. Before… Before the terrible things nearly happened to her. Ahem! I even noticed the Ally the I.T. Almost resembled Marcy on this same Disney show . Oh & I have 2 more things #1 Marcy Wu is the the one who started this whole adventure in the 1st place. #2 She’s the best beloved animated human girl since… since Kari Kamiya from Digimon Adventure 01 1999-2000 & Digimon Adventure 02 2000-2001. Including Digimon The Movie. Before the reboot version of Digimon Adventure came in 2020 just at the same time as the 2nd Season of Amphibia was coming along showing Marcy completely & hearing her talking. Anyway, I think Marcy looks a little bit like Kari Kamiya from Digimon Adventure 02 because they both have long fingerless gloves.
