My wife and I went to Cefalu and Taormina this past fall. Cefalu called to me because my great grandparents are from there. I immediately feel in Love. I would love to retire there. Not sure my wife has the same thoughts though 😉 She is not sold on living out of US yet (plus grandkids and all here in USA) I might be able to sell her on 6 months a year though or something like that. I am going to subscribe to your channel now!

Hi there! Love watching you both with your journey!! I am trying to figure out the last piece for me being able to retire there regarding flying my dogs into CTA. I sent you an email on your website as well. I can't figure out where you pick up your dogs that flew in the cargo hold of the plane and how to clear customs for the dogs arriving in from the US. Love this short video. I find it amazing that Alfred thinks and feels about Sicily the same way I do, which is also one of the reasons I enjoy his books so much. In fact, I couldn’t believe it when I heard him talking about being ‘a square peg in a round hole’ until he moved the Sicily. - I’ve said the same thing. I too am 100% Sicilian and grew up with my parents and grandparents speaking dialect at home. Sicily calls to me and when I am there and I feel like I’ve come home.

I love that you refer to your grandparents as "nanna and nannu" and not nonna and nonno. When I visited my family in Motta d'affermo, my own cousin corrected my pronunciation and I told him I grew up hearing Sicilian spoken, not Italian! My neighborhood in NJ was populated by immigrants from Motta and Santo Stefano de Cammastra and they all spoke Sicilian. Now they likely wouldn't be understood in their own hometowns!

I have been offered a rent-free tiny cottage in Sicily by relatives and am seriously considering it. I am so sick of the political nonsense/communist agenda here in America, I'm just craving tradition and civility. There's just no happiness here, everyone is miserable, whatever side you're on.
