I started playing competitive in 2011 after my friends and I found our old school cards in 6th grade. Hooked to modern ever since but I’ve recently decided to play Edison and Goat. Nostalgia, simplicity and no power creep make it a lot of fun

As a heavily involved and enfranchised magic player and ex-yugioh player, a year ago I couldn't envision a world in which I'd ever play Yu-Gi-Oh again. Then I stumbled upon Edison format and have been hooked ever since. This video is absolutely spot on. Edison is Yu-Gi-Oh at its absolute finest 🔥🔥🔥

Good to see another crows nest video appear on the feed! Definitely can vouch that one of the best things about edison is there's a viable deck for everyone. I came back to the game after nearly 15 years and naturally picked up gadgets since I was familiar with them from playing semi-competitively in 2007, then learned about the machina engine and how good it is. Ever since I've been somewhat obsessed with figuring out where the machine decks belong in modern edison. Although I haven't seen much success yet - some small wins here and there - I'm having fun with it and will continue to move forward.

As a magic player, the criticism that magic limits your options by wanting you to curve out is valid, especially in certain formats, such as draft which is less likely to have a fully functional deck with only two mana. They are getting better with draft design, Amonkhet and Eldraine are loved draft sets partially because almost all the cards have duel use.

Yeah! A lot of the things we discussed in this video are applicable to a many of the pre-LOTG yugioh formats. Part of what make Goat and Edison so good is that they both have considerable and dedicated playerbases.

Creative deck building is how I build my decks in modern format

Yeah, looking back, this is definitely one of the weakest points we make in the video. Modern deckbuilders find lots of off-the-wall cards that function well in their deck. Offerings to the Doomed in Sky Striker, Mushroom Man #2 in the side deck as a Kashtira counter (seen in the OCG). I think I was too focused on the idea that cards don't have to be part of a combo or have great synergy with the rest of the deck to be playable in this format. But finding cards that synergize well, or cards that you can weave into your combo to reach a unique board state definitely requires a lot of creativity and understanding of the game.

I just quit Master Duel a few weeks ago because Tearlaments is absolute dogshit and Konami is unwilling to ban it. I have fallen in love with Edison. Honestly don’t know if I’m going back to modern.
