I assumed that I clicked on a Vox video given how clean the audio and narration are. This is a very well-done video for such a small channel. You got yourself another subscriber.

First of all, very high production quality for a very new and small channel. You're gonna get big! This problem not anly affect wealthy nations but also developing ones! Because our politicians are following what they perceive as "progressive". But it is also very true that there are a lot we can do to fix this. Currently i am working to establish an autoluw (car-low area) around my neighborhood for upcoming Ramadan season. We are going to take half of 4 lane road to turn it into community space where people can hang out (safely and more comfortably, they do that regardless of space available) while waiting for iftar. You too can look around and find something that can be fixed on a small scale to pave way for total paradigm shift.

For sure! I love your way of thinking and admire the effort to influence things at the local level. Good luck with that! I’d love to see how it turns out

This really is such a problem. I think cars are creating some sort of mental disconnect that the world is meant to just travel from place to place without an actual feeling of journey or adventure or socializing (except with those in your car). And now we use these cars to go to just one-purpose shops like your video said. It's just so monotonously depressing.

Found this video on r/cityplanning! Couldn’t believe such a quality video didn’t have millions of views-the editing is great and the content is educational yet easy to digest. This topic is something I really started thinking about when family came to visit from another state. I couldn’t believe there wasn’t really a whole lot to do except for going to restaurants or drive around and looking at… other houses.

Thanks! This is exactly what I've hoped to hear. I'm working a whole lot on some other videos coming down the pipeline. The process just takes awhile 😬

Great editing and great content. Cant believe a channel with just 1000 views is producing such quality videos.

Thanks for the kind words 😭! I just started this channel about a month ago and am planning on going the slow and steady route for growth (having a day job doing video makes that a lot easier), but if things move more quickly, I won’t be mad 😊

@@zacksexplainers why don’t you have more subscribers. This is better than VOX.

@@GenericUrbanism I just started last month and due to the nature of my videos (research supplemented with motion graphics), it takes a good while to churn these out. But thanks so much for the compassion to Vox! They have some of the best content on KZbin imo

Another reason for sprawl is home ownership. You should also check out “Bowling Alone” by Robert Putnam.

I've read that actually! It's a bit outdated now simply because the internet wasn't in full bloom yet, but still insightful and revealing in a way most books I've read aren't. I know Putnam authored another book around 2017 that acted as an update to Bowling Alone, but I haven't gotten to it

Did she really not mention churches or family size decline when talking about spaces and loneliness?

Hey Sean, yes this covers quite a lot! A lot of private property shenanigans happen every day.

sadly american culture has moved away from this and with stranger danger not letting kids hang out on their own, can only assume they will be less likely to do this as adults. also 1:10 i'd add growth of suburbs from policy push by fed government for private home ownership starting in the 30s... that was of course selectively given mortgages.

@@zacksexplainers I am glad! I am a video editor as well so I understand how long all of this takes. Actually found this channel through your comments on a EC Abrams tutorial! I am sure your channel will blow up soon, you've got a nice consistent visual style, and great animations + sound design. :)
