@NursesToRiches Thank you for sharing Rob's story. He is very articulate, well read and highly experienced in street smarts. My concern is that every nursing student's nursing school experience is affected by the teacher who may be jealous or threatened by Rob's unique life experiences. I hope he makes sure he is prepared to escalate his concerns of being targeted if that ever happens to him. Rob, I would highly encourage you to begin writing your story in a daily journal, memorialize it on video and share your storytelling talents because I myself was glued on to your story from the beginning. Yes, I have not doubt that you can achieve your goal as a Psych NP and prescribe drugs but your super power is the ability to captivate and retain people's attention. That talent is Motivational Interviewing on Steroids. I see a bright future for you, your wife and your family.

Rob, thank you for sharing your story. I was also raised as a Jehovah’s Witness and when I decided to leave, I lost everyone. I’m now an LPN and in school working to become RN. I have found nursing to be my safe haven. It feels good when you know you’re making a difference in people’s lives. Good luck with your journey.

I'm in a 3rd world country and I'm on vacation right now in a place where the internet is inconsistent AF. Took me multiple seatings to finish the 1hr video. The last third of this interview was super inspirational for me. Glad I watched until the end. Thanks, Rob, for the inspiration. Thank you, Jason, for posting.

Florida is a terrible state, though. I don't blame him for wanting to leave right away. I've been in that depressed state before, too. I know exactly what he was talking about. Anywho, I can't believe they were fired but at the same time I'm not surprised either. HR is terrible period! This was a great interview, man. Thanks!

Love this video! Rob should have his own KZbin channel explaining all these philosophies that he really loves sharing. Love the way he explains it. I am a current JW in NYC and totally understand what he means. Many of my friends that I grew up with left as well. I am very happy being a JW but I understand what he feels and means. I also applied for PHMNP in NYC. But I think about also building up my KZbin channel. great video!

It is very sad but unless u work at maybe a mom and pop business, they think nothing about putting u in the pressure cooker and turning up the heat. Most companies look at u as an accounting number. That is it. They try to make it out that they care about u, ur family, ur pet turtle, etc. They don't. That is the main reason why I never ever wanted a supervisorary position. I don't care how much money they paid. However, many will take the job. They don't understand that if u cook someone, one day, u too shall be cooked.

I think it's a youtube feature that hasn't been fixed yet for pre-released videos. I think the only workaround until they allow it, or until the video goes public, is to play it on a browser and minimize the browser app on your phone.

@NursesToRiches11 ай бұрын
Yes! This is why I'm always advocating for us nurses and healthcare workers to invest our money wisely because getting laid off or fired should never put us in a position where we can no longer financially support ourselves or our family.

Not surprising really. Companies don't want to risk singling out individuals. So, they just do a blanket cut. It's less headaches for them and saves on any discrimination and investigative lawsuits. It happens more often then u think. Even if u had nothing to do with the incident. If u were part of the dept at the time, bye bye. Industries are cut throat operations. People think that their jobs are always so secure. Until, it happens to them. Welcome to the world of work.

Just A suggestion, but before I ever signed up for a program that will cost an outrageous $80,000, anc especially for only an Associates Degree, not the ultimately necessary Bachelor's degree,, I would seriously look into moving to another state with an well-rated,inexpensive community college nursing system that offers the opportunity to be accepted at the same time into a 4 year college BSN degree program where you can start taking classes at both colleges, at the same time if you choose, ot you can wait and take the classes at for the BSN degree after you finish your ADN classes. It will be up to you, and how much time you will have to take classes each semester and study enough to do well, depending on your need to work while going to school plus if you have kids... but the classes for the BSN degree school you usually can take online, so you don't have to drive to a campus for classes or clinics... just hate to see young peop,people, take on so much debt to get your degree, even if you plan on getting a job at the highest paying hospitals in Northern California so you feel you with be able to easily repay those huge loans before the interest can accumulate and keep you from achieving other financial dreams, because life happens, and you may not be able to land or keep one of those high-paying positions, as the guest in the vlog was just relaying!!! I urge you to consider moving to any one of like 40 other states where the community college nursing programs are not so popular that they have years long waiting lists, and most are not nearly as competitive if you don't have a stellar GPA and TEAS or HESI scores. But best of luck whichever route you do choose!

I wonder what happened to that patient? The reason why they all got fired? Did she die or got hurt became disabled?
@HowToGoSupernova11 ай бұрын
She wasn't injured. They checked her back into the ED and cleared her and she was then promptly arrested. My friends on the other hand were injured. She lacerated the chin of the security guard and bit the other tech on the hand. I just had abrasions on my knees and elbows. But I didn't really discuss any of that on purpose. The real purpose of my reaching out was because I know many other people fall victim to not only violent patients but the companies they work for. And don't feel safe or protected or valued. And when there's nothing you can do about how you're treated by your company what do you do? You're challenged to change yourself to strengthen yourself and to rise to new heights. I wish you the best while you keep those thoughts in mind.
