I hope you react to more Kurzgesagt videos. I can also recommend the video "How The Universe is Way Bigger than You Think" to get some scale for the entire universe.

After years of searching, humanity has finally contacted what it believes to be another space-faring civilization. After almost a decade of waiting for any word from our potential neighbors, a single response if given: "Be quiet. They'll hear you."

First off, I love your accents. It reminds me so much of the way my great grandmother from West Virginia spoke when I used to visit her :) Second off, nice video. I highly recommend the "Remembrance of Earth's Past" trilogy. One of my favorite ideas from it was "chain of suspicion," which explored the idea that, even if two benevolent civilizations contacted one another, there was no way for either of them to know if the other was benevolent, what they thought of the other, or what they believed the other thought of them. This unending logic chain created a scenario where it was literally impossible for two intelligent species to ever trust the other, thus making each of them an existential threat to the other's survival (necessitating a first extinction-level strike).

@@donttrustme6262 Same progress as us? Which us? We've only been engaged in science and industry for a very short time but developed nations are millennia ahead of tribes still living in the rainforests. That's the same species on the same planet at the same time, only separated by geography and who only had the chance to evolve into such beings after the previous dominant species throughout history went extinct. We're exploring space while they are terrified of exploring half a mile away from their huts. Look at the technological leaps of just the last 100 years, if we were to get in a fight, it's robotic flying machines with incredibly destructive, laser guided explosives that can destroy cities VS some dudes with pointy sticks who crack open rotten logs to eat the bugs inside. Now imagine a species that has a 100 year advantage over us, how about a thousand years? How about they have always been the dominant species on a resource rich planet which has never been rattled by extinction events and have a 250 million year head start? We're only where we are because of our planet's history, position, surface conditions and resources, along with human scientific discovery which is still in it's infancy and limited to a tiny percentage of the population of our planet. Another planet will be.. another planet and given that there is almost 15 billion years of history in the universe for potential development, the chances of them being stuck at the same level of technological discovery as a young species like humans is extremely small.

@@BunniMonster depends on how intelligent they r. we are very special and rare
@BunniMonster
@BunniMonster 2 жыл бұрын
@@migueldiaz248 Says who? When it comes to life evolving on planets we only have a sample size of one so it's impossible to say if intelligence is rare or not, it could be that intelligence is inevitable wherever you find life. Thinking that we are special on a universal scale is just Human hubris, we could be the dumbest "Intelligent" species in the entire universe, we have no way of knowing yet. Given that we know next to nothing about the vast majority of lifeforms to have ever existed on Earth, we might not even be the most intelligent species to have evolved on this planet. Even if intelligence is exceedingly, phenomenally rare, the sheer number of planets, the different ages of those planets, the short time modern Humans took to evolve and develop our intelligence and the endless possibilities for life to evolve toward intelligence in an infinite universe, would mean that even if only 1 in 10 billion planets contain life and only 1 in 10 billion of those contain intelligent life, that's still billions upon billions of intelligent species with massive variations in age, intelligence and technology levels. Statistically, the chances of us being anywhere near the top of the list is very slim. Again, we still only have a sample size of one so there are no certainties but people seem to forget how big and old the universe is and how small and young we are.

If you like this type of stuff I would recommend the trisolaris book trilogy. As far as I know these are the books that coined the term the dark forest ( one book is even called that). I just finished the last book and it was a fantastic trilogy.

The creation of the marines and the air force started as a need to expand due to the change way we fight. The marines were part of the Navy and the air force was part of the army. Now the space force is taking a lot of the air force is currently working on.

There is also a video called sometving like "How big the universe really is", and i would not recommend it because it leaves the realm of what i am able to comprehend in terms of scale extremely fast and never returned. But it is sort of fascinating. Edit: How the universe is way bigger than you think by reallifelore should be it.

My issue with this whole concept is that it is entirely based on the assumption that aliens are just as dumb as we are. It assumes the entire universe is a certain way... based on a sample of 1.
@lewd2851
@lewd2851 3 жыл бұрын
On the other hand, we have no proof that aliens AREN'T as dumb as we are, which IS a possible explanation as to why we haven't discovered any advanced civilization yet. Maybe all life in the universe follows the same rules of life which lead it to develop along similar, if not identical, paths. But of course, this is all theoretical, both the craziest theories and the most logically sound ones can be neither proven nor disproven.
@SubtleHawk

I wouldn't really say "dumb", we are a product of our evolution so it makes sense that we act how we act.

I mean, if aliens didn't randomly spawn with buildings, technology etc but evolved just like us then there is no reason for us to believe that they are different than us in their behaviour.

Maybe 99% of universe is peaceful but what about 1%? Let say there are 1 million civilizations in universe, 990,000 civilizations are peaceful but 10% ie 10,000 are like us, dangerous and expansionists. 10,000 is a huge number and It would be wise to be cautious about alien life. Also we don't want some alien virus or parasites to wreck havoc.
