I saw your "second business" quite a while ago but I didn't dig into it since as a Chinese I don't need it. But I have to say you are perfect to be travel consultants. For general information, people can search online on their own. What you can provide is what you showed us on your channel. A lot of experience you had on your trips are something I've never had or even known as a Chinese. You can be the ones putting hidden gems into people's memories about their trips to China.

Aww thanks so much I think it's because we take a middle ground view. Say the good and the bad but we aren't extreme. People seem to like it if you are all hate or all praise I guess. We just show what we see.

But some of the more popular China travel videos were made by channels that already got big before they went to China. I wondered what had happened. I have lived in China 9 years. So many foreigners left this last year. I came home this summer to the U.K. not knowing if I had a job back in Shenzhen. So many teaching jobs were cut. I did get one but it was not guaranteed. Good luck with your ventures,I enjoy your videos. 🤝

@ - the year covid ended it seemed Shenzhen bounced back fast. Maybe too fast as the knock on effect the year after included budget cuts across schools and governments. Schools now have to fund the foreign teacher rather than the education bureau pay for them, so many just cut that position.

I have helped some people who are looking to move to China but I don't feel like I would be that good for Chinese people wanting to move to the UK as I don't know their struggles. I think a Chinese person would be better at doing this. Maybe I need to find someone and we can work together to help each other reach the right audiences haha

How about arranging with educational institutions in UK and link up with some Chinese universities in Shanghai or Beijing for educational tours or trips? I was involved with one when I brought a group od students to Beijing. I had a tour company taking care of booking of flights and hotels.

For a second, I thought… is that the Sydney Harbour Bridge?! If it had been, I would have been on a plane quick-smart to see you!! I’ll keep watching the video before I finish this comment… but I really would LOVE to meet you in person one day, because I’m sure we would have a lot of interesting stories to share. I feel like, with China, as with many things in life, things are cyclical. I think there will come a time one day when I’ll be back in China, maybe for a visit, or maybe something more - who knows. But at the moment, it’s not the best place for me to be… and I have just come to terms with that. Many great years of memories and experiences tainted by a couple of really horrendous years at the end. I could be off with thinking my relationship with China is “cyclical”… that might be a little bit too optimistic on my behalf… but I reckon that things come and go in life… and if you try and stay in the same place when the world is sending you so many signals that you should be somewhere else for now, that can cause all kinds of friction. I’m just at peace with being where I am now - enjoying time with family, trying something different work-wise, and just getting on top of my health (physical and mental)… and I know that one day down the track, whether it is two years from now, or 10 years from now, things will most likely have changed. If not, I had 12 years there, and even though I really wish I could be there just to get a feel for what is happening on the ground, I’m grateful for getting the chance to see a side to China that not too many people get to see. I just hope things change so that people who genuinely feel passionate about building bridges can one day be properly appreciated again - there’s been way too much bridge-burning in my opinion. Until then, I’ll just have to keep watching your channel to see the videos you will make when you’re back there! Also, have always appreciated your approach to content making & China - it is a hard combination, but you manage the balance so well. You guys are quite unique when it comes to the type of content that you make. Always genuine, fun, and friendly. Good to see you guys pop up again on my feed, and even better to know that you both are doing well! All the best, and good luck with the home purchase and the new business! Congratulations… very, very much hard-earned and well-deserved milestones in your lives!

We felt like our chapter came to an end but that doesn't mean everything has to and now we need to write more pages or figure out what the next book is. We are happy that we are in a position to try some new things but grow and develop our old passions as well. Maybe one day we will get the balance right but who knows. haha Yeah it looks very similar doesn't it but I think Newcastle is a little bit colder these days for sure. Are you still in Australia then? It has certainly been what we needed to reconnect with our family and friends and I hope once we move we can do that even more.
