to simplify: Bandai created this outcome based on their business decisions to go all out on cornering the market. This led to scalpers further cornering it by buying and holding until the demand skyrockets. This creates an even bigger gap as the average gunpla enjoyer has no longer the means to buy an already big ticket item and now they've became scarce. This gap is now needed to be filled in.

And that gap is where the 3P/KO companies are trying to exploit, by either making cheap copies of already existing Bandai kits or making kits of mechs that would hardly be touched by Bandai 😂🤣

As a person who is kinda new to 3rd party and bootlegs, their not that bad. Sure it's helping the adversaries of bandai, but sometimes their 3rd party is better or surpassed the kits they make even though the plastic quality is not consistent. It's quite a experience to built this kits even though their not the best but since i have a tight budget and p-bandai being a pain, i am becoming limited to buy 3rd party and bootlegs.

The problem is, a company will always resort to decisions that will make the most money (that's what a company is for after all) and PB has been a very lucrative money maker for Bandai that they have no logical & financial reason to stop. So, how do we stop PB? Well, that depends on the customers. Vote with your wallet & don't buy PB. If plenty of buyers decide to stop buying PB enough to make a dent in the sales, Bandai *might* reconsider. If not, they'll just continue as is 🤷

I usually don’t buy bootlegs of regular kits. I do buy bootlegs of kits that don’t exist or p-bandais(like the new seed zaku warrior MG bootlegs) I mean, what’s the difference with people buying resin kits? People seem to have no problems with those. As long as p-Bandai is not widely available/accessible I think bootlegs are a fine alternative.

Like with most things, this is a very complex and muddy situation. Bandai *does* own the rights to the products so they are allowed to do what they want with them. On the other hand, them being so anti-consumer about it ends up just shooting themselves in the foot. It's kinda like what has always been happening with Nintendo.

Definitely agree with your point. I only want MG or 1/100 size gunpula but bendai just don't do much regular 1/100 releases now....... And the worst is that even i live in region with P bendai available i just can't get anything from it. Every time when a good release come out it will be sold out within 1 minute. Not to mention MG kits' recent quality sucks. I really want to support the IP owner but they just don't want my money i guess. If bendai's quality can't really achieve what they got in the good old days, i think I wouldn't mind buying products with similar quality but much better price from other companies.

@@GreenBlueWalkthrough I live in Taiwan and there are tones of model kit builders out here. Popular kits like MG green zaku warrior, MG Stark Jegan, mg black kampfer often get sold out in 10 seconds. They are all sold out so quick because people who place those order are running scripts. And the worst part is that those sold out kits will be find in reseller's site with much higher price. I hate all those resellers and bendai that allow all these..........

As a more customizer than a collector, I prefer to buy k.o. as they are cheap and I will most likely be tearing them apart, which wouldn't hurt my heart and mind that much compared to using original parts. Even though there are second hand markets and scrap sellers here in my place, they can still be pricey as if they were almost brand new.

I was all for bandai after getting two early 2000 bootleg kits that where total trash, figuring all of them where like that unless you put alot of work into them so i was like "never again, this is BS and wrong" and then i saw prime92 talking about daban and how they where making models of MB action figures or kits bandai wasnt touching and reviewing them so i gave bootlegs another chance with the MG unicorn perfectibility and then MG sazabi and just finished MG FAZZ tv colors and short of problems the officals ones had ive had not problems with the bootlegs and im already trying to figure out which one i want next lol

I have 50/50 collection of bandai and bootleg. However, most of my orders now are on leaning towards 3rd party kits. It's very hard to find a specific gunpla without waiting for a very long time or paying a ridiculous amount just to aquire it. Most of my wanted gunplay is available on bootleg form nowadays. Heck even MB version has bootleg too.

For me personally, I don't hate third party/bootleg companies. What I hate are the fanbase and some resellers. I a couple of BL/3rd party kits but, but I don't disrespect other collectors and modellers by bringin my BL kit in a legit bandai event. Plus there are BL/3rd party kits resellers taking advantage of what is happening right now. I am seeing some resellers selling DM and Daban kits twice the og price sometimes much higher than bandai. But I gotta agree with you with the sneaker community. You are paying 3 to 4 times higher than the regular price because of the hype. But checking the shoe you are getting the same materials from a GR.

I can see the reasoning behind people buying 3p/4p toys, not only gundam but for other franchises as well, it really gets infuriating to collect something when the company region locks everything at a ridiculous price only to get confused as to why their products aren't popular in other countries, and in some cases one design that doesn't have a certain representation, like a mg scaled Astray Gold frame Amatsu And also it's nice that you included the price in this discussion, as not everyone lives in a first world country where everything is cheaper and easier to get but(at least for gunpla) i don't go for bootlegs/3p because i'm not here because of me liking an MS in particular, i just want to build and paint something So the official stuff suits me perfectly

Daban, Supernova, ZA, MJH, Nillson work and dont buy HG from Hongli. I recomended HG core gundam series and MG Jagd doga by Daban model. Heavyarms custom by Supernova

My independent opinion is that I got fucked by bandai when they made the sword/launcher strike gundam unavailable, just to sell the sword/launcher kit for half the price of the entire sword/launcher striker kit, absolutely fucking greedy. Even worse, pre order only, because FOMO marketing is all the hype right now, so now I can buy this kit from a scalper for 280 euros and still need a strike gundam. So... does anyone happen to have a link to a bootleg Sword Strike Gundam? If bandai doesn't let me have one, I'll get it elsewhere

hating bootleg isn't about defending bandai, they are two seperate things, put quality aside, respecting intellectual properties should be priorities above all for the creators of the anime and model kits that we love. of course why not if those third parties have the right of the ip like Kotobukiya.

How can you respect IP when they don't respect you as customer ? Moment bootleg can provide better service and product at drastically lower prices then that is indication that there is massive problem. It is not that people don't respect the IP it is that they cannot justify paying it or can't even get the product they want. Moment they start selling their product based on brand name instead of quality of service and product they provide it opens room for 3rd party. before buying 3rd party meant you were getting inferior product but once that is no longer the case it means that you are feeling like getting rip off for paying 3 times as much for branding name alone to get inferior product, that doesn't leave you as satisfied customer. This video is about people flaming others for buying 3rd part, we as customers don't care about legality if my options is to support being ripped of or support good product I know where my money is going.

Honestly as someone who lives in america and has easy access to p bandai I dont hate it,theres some great kits and of course if you get in on the pre order they are not expensive i think the problem more lands on the resellers being greedy and jacking up the price.....i think honestly alot of 3rd party kits are becoming just as good if not better than bandai....although alot of hard work and engineering goes into bandais creations i dont mind 3rd party and bootleg and daban kits seeing as sometimes its the only way some have access to certain model kits

I don't mind if you don't have money to buy original or pbandai so you resulted to buy bootleg and bla bla. But to over brag them? and defended their company like they did nothing wrong bla bla? One of their crazy practices is releasing a P-Bandai kit since there are few people who know the suit design exists (the reason why the MG F90 Mars Zeon was a P even tho it doesn't have a monochromatic box color. It's a last minute adjustment from Bandai).

Gunpla police is a new term to me. And frankly having heard about it in this video im not surpised. I mean i learned that transformers have 3rd partie figures and of amazing quality in the past 5 years. And some of it is stunning. My main reason to support 3rd party gunpla is the shear lack of investment in suits of various kit grades outside of certain suits. Like for example one of my favorite mobile suits is the reborns gundam cannon. Which im sure most people know where thats from. How ever in terms of kits it has at best 2 different HG kits that are over a decade old and maybe a 3rd if there was one based on that episode of one of the build fighter series. Which for the final end boss suit in a gundam series to me that suit deserves a master grade along with the braves, yet the GN-X has a master grade? Not cool. Heck i bring up the reborns because one day after hearing about so many third things and resin kits i decided to look up and see if there was a master grade 3rd party ver of it and it looked like there was at least a prototype of it. It shouldnt take a third party to make suits that bandai should already be making. Like i bet id have a better chance at doing something weird like sending kit pieces to a 3D printer company and paying them to increase the size of a kit to make it MG or PG size before or if ever some kits get a master grade
