Yes they have a smaller frame but I think the advantage of that is you can run more of them therefore increase your dollars per acre income.

I enjoy your Mashona cattle video's I like to someday half black Angus and half black Mashona bull for my Black Angus cattle I believe that would be the right cross for my climate here in Kentucky

Been following you awhile because of the Mashona. However, aren’t you one of the few ranchers who have 100% Mashona in the US? What’s the total cow population in the US you think? They seem to have all the heat resistance of Brahman without any of the fertility or body confirmation problems, is that right?

Hey Texas Guy! Yes that’s been our experience so far with your description of the Mashona. I’m not 100% sure how many full blood Mashona breeders there are in the US. I know there at least 2 in Texas which includes my folks but I bet there is a lot more than you think. I know this because the guy I bought my first females from has been selling them for at least 5 years. Thanks for following and watching.

Brett! I’m really intrigued by the Mashona. We currently have South pol/angus x. Have you crossed Mashona with Corrientes? I’m planning on buying some Corrientes this fall and was wondering if you guys have tried that cross and what results were.

Good morning! I just watched your video and I have to say I didn’t even know this breed existed. I have been leaning toward the purebred Dexter because of it’s smaller size, temperament and meat quality. The Mashona has the first two qualities, but what about the meat quality, etc.? Thanks!

I can’t personally answer that. I would say that if you wanted to grass finish and body condition was a direct correlation to meat quality then it’s probably very good.

@@tritchie6272 I would have to say the biggest difference in South Pole and Mashona is the years and years and years of either eating or loosing to Lions the Mashonas that didn’t function the way they were created to function. This has made the remaining ones cattle that do what a cow was intended to do with no inputs. Simply survive and reproduce.

@@ryanbeard1119 hey Ryan. They would and have done very well in New Mexico for years. Jim Weaver ranches in New Mexico and is the original importer of the Mashona. At one time he had several hundred flourishing in New Mexico. ALL of the Mashona here in the US can be traced back to the New Mexico herd.👍🏼

Hey Robert! Mathew has a good list. I bought my first 3 heifers from Bill at Dry creek Mashona. I don’t know if Zack has any or not but I know he’s a GOOD guy!! My folks will have to sell some Mashona Bulls next year and plan on it.
