One thing that's pretty unique about Bluey is it doesn't portray the kids imagining things and "magical" like other shows do. It's literally just them playing
@KatieTheBookOsbessedNerd
@KatieTheBookOsbessedNerd Жыл бұрын
There's actually this one episode that does raise the question of whether magic exists. It's in the episode "Fairies". At the end, Bingo walks back into the play room to discover that her dominos were re-stacked up by a real life fairy. Bingo herself looks suprised, but also a bit calm upon seeing this. Then Bandit walks into there saying something along the lines of,"You stacked them up!" It's not confirmed it magic exists then, but it does raise questions.

Personally, this show reminds me of Arthur. That show handled serious topics such as cancer, divorce, and even death in a gentle manner kids could understand. It also taught kids various religions and cultures. Not to mention the parents of the children in the show had their own names and personalities too like the parents in Bluey. Now that Arthur has ended after being on the air for over 20 years, I think it’s safe to say Bluey is the perfect show to carry the torch so to speak.

I didn't start watching Bluey until I lost my father of last year due to covid. He was my hero, best friend, and rock in my entire life. Loosing him was like losing a huge chunk of my heart that was violently ripped from me. Everything reminded me of him, the shows we watch, the music we listened to, the places we visited. I got into Bluey a few months after when I saw clips on youtube. I found episodes online and started watching and fell in love. One episode, "Promise", hit me like a truck. At the end when Bandit watches his daughters sleep, and softly tells them, "I promise to always love you." I cried; I cried as if it was my own father telling me those words. I am fully dedicated to the show as it was a huge comfort whenever I missed him and needed something to ground me during horrible days without him. Bandit reminds me of my dad and seeing how he is with Bluey and Bingo reminds me of the days he raised me and my sisters. I watch this show with my three nieces and play the same games we see on the show. This show is a huge comfort and really helped me through the dark first year without my dad. It's an amazing series for all ages and has insane heartfelt episodes. Please go watch and support this show everyone!! You will LOVE it!!

@@Wolfman321123 Someone else mentioned it as well, but that is true. Chili's sister Brandy is outright stated as infertile in a way kids can understand. However it's implied that Chili struggled with pregnancy as well in the Mother's Day episode As to why it's more of a theory than an outright fact, it's like this. Bluey and Bingo are acting out Chili's life before she had kids. When they reach the part where Chili is supposed to be pregnant with Bluey, the balloon under Bingo's shirt pops. Instead of either or both parents jumping in to comfort Bingo, like they normally do, Bandit just grabs Chili's hand and they both get this stone-y look. As a parent of a 4 year old, Bluey has been a godsend. I swear all the other shows on Disney+ just put my kid into that weird Cocomelon trance, but with Bluey, she can watch it and still have attention to do puzzles, or draw pictures, and talk to me about the show and such. I feel like Bluey encourages kids to actually use their imaginations. Plus, to be honest the show has taught me how to be a better parent as well, like just reminding me to sometimes slow down and be more patient, and remembering to have fun because these years when they’re little go by so fast.

@@allisonwhite1885 A lot of it has to do with the editing in those shows-- If you look at it again ever, take note of how long the shots linger. For something like Cocomelon, you're gonna be seeing cuts to different angles/framings/scenes after every few seconds, if that. It's designed to be overstimulating to kids and suck their attention purely onto the show. Bluey lingers on shots, it takes a more grounded look, older cartoons were more focused on the narrative/message than on "being a distraction", etc. Real talk if I had a kid and someone put them on Cocomelon I'd be livid lmao

@@wishbonefan I think the point is that Bluey is loud in a way a child would be while other kids shows are loud only to put emphasis on the characters to make them appeal to children and/or being loud to give teachments and morals to children. You will notice that the majority of kid shows has a narrator that explains things in a calm voice and the rest of character being loud and obnoxious because that's what children "do". Except the point of many of these shows is to try and show what's wrong and what's good for kids, usually oversimplifying concepts, so the characters will outright tell you in your face that someone did something wrong and there will be people crying, people raising their voices to express their madness and people being loudly sad about hurting someone without noticing or something like that. Meanwhile Bluey doesn't do this at all. Here people are "loud" because they're happy or excited and they don't tell it directly but show it with voices and dialogs that feel more genuine, where obvious things are not pointed out in these extreme obvious ways, having the narrator explaining how the characters are feeling or short sad tunes to express the state of emotion of someone even before they opened their mouth. All in all the way Bluey comes out is non-obnoxious because it's genuinely different from every other child program around in how they show things to children and it works

Reasons why Bluey is a good show: It treats kids as individuals and in a realistic way It doesent make kids look stupid- it makes them look like kids It subverts expectations and makes both bluey and bingo girls, and making the mom the more serious one It makes the parents individuals and doesent make a weird “I don’t like my dad/mom” or “my mom/dad doesent understand how I feel” type of thing The mom and dad actually show up in almost every episode The animation is captivating and not lazy or bland The side characters have depth and equally as pretty and cute designs if not cuter They actually have personality and not “I’m a kid and I do kid stuff” or “I’m a parent I do kid stuff with my kid because I’m a parent”

@@NiCKy_TheHedgehog A lot of people do. The TV in a hotel room I was in was set to disney channel in the early morning, and the show line-up consisted of a sequel series to the Playhouse Disney Mickey Mouse show that came out around when I was starting to get too old for a lot of kid’s shows (the original show was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), which I definitely thought more about while watching than the writers did while making it, some garbage inspired by Into the Spiderverse that I could barely tolerate, and Bluey, which was the only one I found unambiguously watchable, and which was actually pretty good.

The gross jokes in Bluey are tame compare to Ren and Stimpy. If you mean sex jokes, well I never seen them in Bluey (expect for the Bob Bibly one). The whole dark theories and sussy rumors about Bluey well that is a fan problem and not a show problem. With all do respect I disagree with you. As a preschool educator myself, I see Bluey as a prime example of what it means to be a person. And really in preschool education that's all we're teaching kids- how to be human. I think the unnecessary censorship is a self conscious decision from those who don't really understand the mind behind a child at a preschool educational level- and instead focus on a level of parental input. STOP CENSORSHIP for parents!!! The show is for children.

I don't have kids but I was surprised to hear that parents felt like Chili and Bandit were setting the bar too high considering there's quite a lot of moments where there's real attention on the adults struggles? There's a whole episode where they're too tired to move from the floor, there's an episode where they keep getting distracted from doing the housework they hate, an episode where they struggle to be romantic until they accept that it's out of their hands now that their life is so tiring but that doesn't mean they can't have a great time together. Faceytime is ostensibly about Muffin hogging but in the background her parents have a real talk about how her dad feels like he doesn't get to do any of the parenting bc Trixie always takes over and "hogs all the parenting". There's a grouchy grandfather who Chili has to get real with and tell him that he needs to take better care of himself bc she still needs him, there's a hint at difficult pregnancies and an uncle who works on an oil rig so he's never around and doesn't really have any connections with people other than his brothers families. The show is PACKED with real adult issues that make it feel like they're not perfect, they've not got it all worked out, they're stumbling through this while making the best choices they can moment to moment, and I love it!

As a parent, we can get VERY self conscious of all our failings. We feel every mistake we make, and it doesn't help that people (other parents and non-parents) can be VERY judgemental for every percieved mistake. Emotional response to percieved criticism. Some people see it as a reason to to do better, others are already feeling overwhelmed and defensive.

Looking around at my adult peers with children of their own, it's obvious that too many people never grow up before they have children. The parent characters in Bluey are adults. Our parents never got the chance, and now their kids' kids are doing the same. Being a good parent is setting the bar too high for the majority of those with children, and that is why so many children have horrific trauma and live empty lives, then empty adulthoods.

Like it’s especially impressive since whenever a preschool gets ESPECIALLY popular to the point where not even childless adults can escape it, it’s usually met with major backlash to varying degrees of “understandable”. But Bluey’s was both VERY minor and for pretty dumb reasons, mainly those that protest the show for advocating for gentle parenting. Which oddly enough even that criticism doesn’t hold water such as the Pass the Parcel episode that teaches kids that it’s okay to lose in games sometimes with a lesson n to the parents that it’s also find to not coddle your children too much.

Lmao I'll be honest, I saw my little sister watching this and I thought Bluey was a boy at first because I mean.. there's really nothing there indicating that she's a girl. It took me a hot minute to realize that she was a girl. xD But, another thing I'll be honest about is that I'm kinda digging the female characters not having overly long lashes, wearing skirts, talking in annoying squeaky "girl" voices and having other overused features. It just feels natural. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Bluey, I'm just not that into it, but I can respect it and give credit where credit is due.

Aussie Girl Margie explained why the "I'm from France" line was changed. It wasn't a censorship matter but a context one. In Australia, it's common for backpackers to travel around and take jobs harvesting produce. Since American audiences may not get this (as our produce is typically harvested by seasonal workers), Disney+ changed the line to "we're backpackers" to offer this context. Most of the edited stuff is crap, but this is one of the few instances where Bluey changes was actually valid.

So I stopped thinking I should even attempt to have children. Originally, Bluey was just a cute comfort show for me, but after time, it began reawakening that want to become a mother. It made me remember that I don't have to perpetuate the cycle of abuse. If you do choose to have children, it may be hard to resist accidentally slipping into abuse. It will be more difficult raising a child as a victim of abuse than if we weren't. There's a beauty in giving your children the childhood you never had. Allowing yourself to be goofy and childish alongside them, healing yourself.

This change is one of the few that actually makes sense. According to Aussie Girl Margie, in Australia, a lot of their fruit is picked by backpackers. As part of their visa, they have to work a certain amount of hours on a farm, so that's what they do. Australian viewers would understand this. International viewers may not understand why 'people' from other countries are picking the fruit, so that's why they added in the "we're backpackers" line. It wasn't that they were trying to censor the scene, they were trying to make it make more sense for viewers. It's similar to how in BBQ, the kids talk about their favourite colour capsicum, but Disney changed capsicum to pepper so international viewers would understand.

For anyone who doesn't know, Alex Hersch had to change a fair amount of Gravity Falls for the Disney Standards & Practices Department. There are videos up giving a dubbed version of Alex's tweets about some of the things that were censored, but my favorite is that in the Summerween episode, there was a flyer for the party that episode was about that originally said "Bottles will be spun". Disney thought this alludes to kissing too much, so Alex changed it to "Not S&P Approved".

(Maybe he hasn't been tested.) Rusty learned military stuff from his father, who is in the bush guard, and as they play Jack starts doing things we're told he can't do, like stay still or remember things. It's considered a very positive episode for ADHD or even kids who were diagnosed as hyperactive like I was (ADD wasn't even a term yet so who knows what I really have) to show how they can still control it.

My theory on why Disney changed the "I'm from Argentina." "I'm from France." lines to "I'm from Argentina." "We're backpackers." is because (I think) Australians know about foreigners doing working holidays on Australian farms. It's fairly common from what I've been told. People from outside the country might not understand what those two would be doing on a farm in Australia so Disney+ changed a line to provide context. That's the only explanation I can think of.

I was at a relative's house for Christams and they had this on for the kids. There was one episode that criticized the "awards for everyone" mentality with a hot potato style game where the kids passed around a present and opened it when the music stopped. A woman dog had them ALL win at first but small gifts. A male dog character suggested they buy one really good gift, but make it so that only one kid won the game. I like how they did the story because you predicted that they were going to take the "everyone wins" side at first because his plan backfires and kids are crying and stuff. Fortunately, as the episode goes on the kids become excited to play by those rules because of the excitement that they could potentially win but may also lose, and also the happiness they feel for the other kids being happy to win. It was a good message that showd that giving everyone awards is not the answer and that competition makes games more fun.

I even caught myself putting it on when the kids aren't around because it's just enjoyable. Even on the music front, we listen to a local classical music station, and my niece has started picking up/recognizing a couple of the melodies because she has heard them in the show (one episode predominantly uses Mozart's Rondo Alla Turca), so it's even keeping interest in music alive.

As an Australian I can say for many that we appreciate the love and support this show gets, and we all hope Disney doesn't suddenly end it like Club penguin Etc

Disney is the evil side of anything, and I can tell anyone that 4Kids is friendlier.

To my knowledge, Disney is only responsible for American distribution, and the only company that might have influence over cancelling Bluey would be the ABC or BBC

8:16 I never watched Rugrats so I didn't really know what to expect, but the line "Because I lost control of my life" certainly wasn't it.

You know, as someone who is childfree by choice and never wants to have anything to do with being a parent, the fact that they had an episode about the aunt's struggles with her own inability to have children still really made me tear up. q_q I know for those who find parenthood important, that can be absolutely devestating. It's important that these things are talked to with kids in appropriate ways, and I love they they do that, but it actually still always amazes me when media meant for kids addresses stuff like that! Good for them, and I hope it has in some way helped make that topic easier for the kids and adults who are dealing with it.

More kid shows need to learn how to tackle serious topics in ways that are both meaningful and educational for kids and adults alike.
