Why as an F1 fan would you be so emotional about a team principal that you would ignore their obvious mistakes? In my opinion, he wouldn’t. It makes no sense. 1) It’s going to be George’s team now. Even if they don’t say it, it seems very likely they’d prioritise George as he’s been there longer. And he’s as good as Max. Or at least had the potential to be as good as Max. 2) Following on from that, George is a way tougher/faster driver than Checo. And I doubt Max would want a driver who’d match him every week. 3) Merc wouldn’t want their drivers costing each other, and by extension Mercedes, points in the championships. And 4) Red Bull are winning, Mercedes aren’t. It makes no sense.

Yeah Russell is as fast as Max... What are you smoking? He might occasionally be as fast but not over a season. He's not as good at tyre wear, he's not as efficient as Max and he makes 5 or maybe even ten times as many mistakes (as Max makes none basically). If they sign Max he will be first driver (40million a year) and the headline star. Do you really believe they would favour Russell based on that? Favour a non-wdc over a 4 time WDC? Talk about ruining the pr value..
