I’m 62. I started flying when I was 15. I still love it. You express how great it is very well. It should be good for young people to hear that the passion never goes away. I can’t think of another career path that can make that same claim. For those who are having to wait a few years to start training it is well worth the wait. When I was 21, fresh out of college, my flight school where I was instructing went out of business. The economy was bad, and I ended up becoming an air traffic controller for 35 years. 2 years after retirement I finally got hired by a charter company and sent to school to get type raited on the Falcon 50 At age 62 and I made it! I’m loving life now. The moral of the story is it was worth the 37 year wait to be able to live the dream. You go Dutch Pilot Girl! Love your videos!

5 more reasons: - You work with cuting edge technology - airplanes - You are transporting 100s the people who are going somewere they need to be: for their career, leisure, or mayby something completely life changing for them. - You are responisble for keeping countries and continents connected to eachother - The money - The job doesn't follow you home. When a flight is done, you don't have to think about it again.

I am retired now from executive and program management in technical electronics manufacturing and I travelled around the world , which was exciting but I missed my family so I learned to send my management staff to share the travel assignments. One aspect of my job was to setup a logistics center in the Netherlands which became one of my favorite countries to do work and fun activities. I worked in Rotterdam but visited Amsterdam, Utrecht, Maastricht, Eindhoven, Delft, Breda, Gouda, and many others. I am grateful for all the pilots who bring their skills and dedication to the job of delivering me safely to my destination. The only problem I had in the Netherlands was walking into the bike path :) Future videos of you enjoying the Netherlands would be nice.

I am also a licensed pilot, I only have about 350 hours flight time in single engine land airplanes, after 40 years, so I know part of your struggles. It's far to late for me to be an airline pilot I am 62 years old but I had fun trying any way. Family came first...should have stayed single a little while longer. I am author of the book "Code to Greed" you should read it on your spare time, it less about greed and more about an Alaskan Dall sheep hunt with a lot of flying and adventure in it, there is also a female pilot who helps save the day, good luck even though you don't need it. It looks like your flying is perfect, thumbs up on the landings in strong cross winds.

Why would I want to become a pilot? Well, I'm not a pilot myself, but when I was about 7 or so, I developed an intense interest in aviation and traveling. I would actually prefer to be a flight attendant (as they are called in my country), or 'cabin crew,' as I have heard they are called in some other areas of the world, but when I first became interested in aviation, I had my sights set on being a pilot, and actually being on that flight deck, manning those controls.

Michelle, I have the following questions which have nothing to do with this video. So only if you feel like answering them, please let me know, thanks. 1. The autopilot is disconnected when all engines failure occurs, right? It is only because of no electrical power supply? Or it is just an automated system process based on emergency situation as seen with a breaker for electricity at home ? 2. ( From electrical power supply view point) If one of the engines functions, the autopilot can still work? APU is not sufficient for supplying enough power to the autopilot system? 3. I think that maneuvering an airplane manually is a mandatory procedure in case of emergency landing. But I would like to know if the autopilot system is technically capable of doing emergency landing in case of " glider situation " as seen in CAT approach if the autopilot can work with APU power supply only. And if the autopilot works with only one engine available, it is capable of emergency landing ( apart from the official procedure) ?

@johncox42734 жыл бұрын
Tetsuro, I flew corporate jets not airliners, but can give you some information about them. The new Autopilots are very capable and can easily fly an approach with an engine out. The remaining engines generator can power the entire aircraft, although there may be some minor electrical items that may be shed. Entertainment system, coffee pot, etc. If an engine is lost as well as the other engines generator then it depends on the aircraft systems. In older aircraft without an APU, such as a Lear 35, you could be down to battery power only, and will not have an Autopilot available. On many aircraft with an APU it can be started in flight to provide electrical power. However some corporate aircraft with APU’s are ground use only and cannot be started in the air. A Lear 45 is one example. Some aircraft have a Ram Air Turbine (RAT) which can provide electrical power to “essential” systems, depending on the design. The aircraft that I’m current involved with is the Embraer Legacy 450/500. When down to the RAT you only have the basic systems powered. The Fly by wire system goes into Direct Mode, and Autopilot is not available. The aircraft is very controllable in Direct, although a bit more sensitive. But easily landed, and if necessary one can fly an instrument approach manually. No big deal. Hope this helps some. Good luck.
