Part of the “bear proofing” is that it actually gets certified grizzly bear proof. I can’t say for sure if it’s necessary, but when camping in National parks, park rangers (usually) require you to have a grizzly proof cooler. But there are a lot of coolers around a third of the price that are grizzly certified.

Finally I have no need to refute anything, you replied on my thread. Not the other way around.

Most coolers come with a plastic bin sitting in the thinnest foam you can imagine.. I just remove the bin and line the inside with styrofoam.. put as many layers as you can to be able to get the bin back in. it makes it 10x better! One cooler I had I even super glued a piece of foam board to the inner lid.. foam board from Walmart is about $1.50.. it’s thin so I use about 3 layers.. easy to cut

The quality and design was a factor in choosing it over a cheaper RTIC or an Igloo BMX. I'm sure marketing themselves as a Prestige brand has a lot to do with the price, but I think they do live up to the reputation of "you get what you pay for".

There’s another video actually testing the Yetis against other brands and the only comparable difference is that the tops are foam filled whereas others are not. So $7 worth of the window and door type spray foam and two drill holes and you’re sorted. Yes their plastic is much thicker but really that just makes them heavier.

Yeti changed the game in cooler. Made other companies go back to the drawing board and make a better product. If you buy a yeti or other brand based off the yeti, in some aspect it’s because of yeti your getting a better cooler for your money.

We bought a used yeti tundra 110 for $400 in mid 2024 and this thing is a beast. It holds blocks of ice and ice cream and stuff frozen cold while repeatedly opening the cooler over 15-20+ times repeatedly a day on 100 degree days… jus need a sufficient amount of ice and be quick while opening the cooler and doing what you need to do. YETI is no joke it’s the real F’in deal

I bought a Coleman cooler for 10 dollars at walmart, originally 30 but had a broken handle and kept getting reduced, took it home and made one out of about 2.50 worth of scrap about to be tossed and its still holding up to this day!

I have a yeti and used to have the Walmart version. The yeti works much better, better made and better shape/size. The yeti was about 50% more, but don’t regret it. Also their customer service is great.

I work at TJ Maxx and we occasionally get Yeti merchandise like apparel, cups and coolers themselves. People do not pay for the prices and they end up getting marked down so much, they’re sometimes just marked out and disposed of.

Bought my Yeti back in 2011 when no other cooler was on the market that could withstand camping out west when it was a 110 degrees outside. Kept my drinks and food cold for 2 weeks just like I needed. Still have the cooler and am pretty sure I’ll have it 50 years from now. Say all that about your walmart cooler.

Me and my familly have each got a YETI cup/mug as a gift. It is so cool because it keeps your drink hot/cold for hours. Here where I live(Croatia) summers are crazy hot and having this cup/mug keeps it cool. The same applies for winter.

I spent $330 on a all blue 45 yeti for my business a few days ago . I make gourmet ice cream cookie brownies , my yeti allows me to travel with ice cream and toppings to scoop fresh at any location allowing me to keep the cookie brownies hot and fresh until the point the customer gets them. Paid for itself in one day . I put ice in it at 10 am this morning it’s currently 4 am and it’s still full with little to no water melted off I see it going 48 hours plus and I heard during a hurricane they kept a man’s frozen and refrigerated food cold for 7 days.
