There's 2 shops in my town both knowledgeable but one has the good old boy attitude and if you're not in their inner circle they sell you anything (say yes to everything you point to)but will not really guide you. And those extras that come with your bow you'll never see unless you knew about them. (Sight tapes , product swag, extra set screws, bolts,etc) Unfortunately I didn't know till i got my sons first bow. Getting service was hard unless i told them exactly what the problem was. Now i started going to the other bow shop and wow what a difference. He adjusted my sons bow from the other shop and didnt charge. I bought my bow from the 2nd shop and he didnt open the box. He says he wants owners to experience the joy of the new bow smell. Then he does a basic setup it up as you wait. You shoot in his lanes and he adjusts as necessary. Any issues you go back and he just talks to you about your shooting to figure out the problem. And lets you try some products before you buy it.

@@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors I like it, my initial paper tune went pretty fast, without a rest adjustment, however when I switched from the bare shafts to fletched arrows I noticed the fletches were hitting the cables with the "LTR" cable guide in its center position, shifting it away from the arrow of course ment back to the paper tune, this time it was a bit more time consuming playing with the limb adjustments and eventually made a very small arrow rest adjustment to get a bullet hole without the limbs in the most extreeme adjustment position. It was worth the effort as now I can stack a bare shaft with a fletched arrow at 20 yards, like touching eachother. I am shooting the 75lb model, 30" draw, with smooth modules. It is shooting very flat with my mid 400 grain arrows and wildly consistent even at 70 yards. Dialed Pruf picatinny sight, 15" front bar and 12" rear bar.

My guess is; it’s a mfg dealer agreement that has to do with the dealer buying a certain amount of bows each year to qualify them as being a “dealer”. Most likely the more money they spent they probably get deeper discounts or promotions to stock certain products and accessories . The manufacturer has basically insured their sales (potentially) each year before a production release. Plus the fact that they have to only communicate with dealers and not thousands of individuals. And then there is the whole dealer territory thing.

Oh I agree, and to add to your point, I am referencing buying online from retailers, not direct from the manufactures, just like the Target bows. What I hate is the closest bow shop to me ( 35 miles) only carries one brand. So if I want a different brand I have to drive 70 or 80 miles to two other shops. I think manufacturers could still protect dealers by allowing online sales through the dealers. If you purchase online you could forfeit the free set up or pay a small upcharge for online sales. I mean there has to be a middle ground somewhere here. I think it would help the smaller shops stay in business because it would give them a cyber store and allow for lower overhead from having a much larger customer base which in theory translates to more sales.

Brother we think a lot alike, I was actually thinking about this after I had already completed this video and had uploaded it in schedule> I am not a pro shop owner, but if I was guessing, they would be more than happy to charge you "X" amount for a set up fee etc, and not tie up their own money in inventory hoping for a sale. Just another side note on this whole idea - concept. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment and share you thoughts on it as well. I suppose this is what the “dealer exclusive” label means when looking at bows online… specifically Bear. All I see in shops online are the RTH packages. I don’t want a package that I have to swap out most of the accessories in order to get what I want/need. I also don’t want to have to drive a minimum 3 hrs one way to see what the store happens to have in stock. I would prefer a bare bow, not a package, that I build up myself. That is the only way to get to know the equipment and build my knowledge to be able to deal with issues myself. Besides, I hear stories about bad builds from the shop. If anyone is going to screw up a build, it will be me, not some half wit minimum wage joker putting in time at a shop.

Told the fella it was out of my price range. Buddy said he’d sell it to me at wholesale (what he gets em for from Hoyt direct). Thing was literally $500 less than what the customers pay per Hoyt’s “msrp”

There again goes right along with my theory. that the retailers "mark up" is probably not that much. Yes sir, I agree, it sounds to me like your store would be a great one to sell them online to others who dont have a dealer near them. I just think overall the manufactures would sell more. I am not talking about direct form the manufacture either, just the retailers who are already established stores being able to branch out for additional sales in order to help others who do not live near them. I think one thing you did not touch on is warranty. I do know that to become a dealer you have to attend a training course at the manufacturer facility. If you have new or newer archers servicing their own equipment then it would be harder to control warranty claims, that is why if you press a flagship bow yourself it voids the warranty. I don't agree with it because I can setup and tune my bows faster and more accurately than my local shop.
@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors3 күн бұрын
Yeah, I agree with you there. I could see that being an issue. I was not able to register my bow anyhow, so the warranty probably sent going to be there anyhow. I do agree with you though, if you had an issue, with the current policies, you would have to go to the dealer you purchased it from, but I am willing to bet, if everyone put their minds to it, that is such a small issue it could be resolved as well, I am sure they take care of the issues with any of the target bows, if they didnt, they wouldn't be selling , to at least I would think that, Lords knows I am wrong regularly, if you dont believe me ask my wife hahaha, I do agree, some older policies including the warranty,. I set up the new bow completely on my own from watching YT videos. It was easy and I learned a lot and bought a lot of other equipment online. Now Ive got 3 recurves. The last one I bought from Sanlinda. It was shipped from China in 2weeks arrived. The best customer service I have had from any company. I wanted a 62" bow that was not online. They had some and set me up with a special link to order from in 1 day. Its an awesome bow. If I ever buy a new compound, it will be a Sanlinda dragon, I hear it is as good as any flagship bow and 1/3 the price... The flagsship bows all come from China also. Thank you so much for the feedback my friend. I mostly am just asking to see what others think about this topic as well,, it almost seams outdated to me, but I may be wrong. I do believe there is a need for the pro shops, I just think there should be a happy medium between the folks who live outside of any of the true pro shops area to be able to purchase online and or even purchase from the pro shop, that would take them over an hour to get to. if that makes sense, not trying to slide by the pro shops, they are needed in my opinion,. I so agree, with you, I have only been bow hunting for roughly 40 years and am still learning. so there is the need, I just dont think they "vet:" the "pro" shops like maybe they did in years past. who knows, kinda fun topic. @@NewBeginningNewCreation Agreed, I honestly wish I had a pro shop near here, I used to go by the one back home and hang out from time to time and always enjoyed it. Great place to net work and meet new people etc. I hope they are always around and continue to grow. Thank you for all your support my friend and I Hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale

I thought the reason you can buy a target and not a hunting bow online was because most people who buy target bows either own bow presses and work on there own equipment or atleast know the process in setting a bow up. I don't think that should be the reason not to sell hunting bows. They should just add a disclaimer explaining the set up and tuning process can be difficult and recommend using a shop if your unfamiliar with the process.
@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors4 күн бұрын
That is definitely the reason that most people think as well. Sipy put, they want to sell the bows they make and not enough shop even carry them because the hunting market Is where most retailers concentrate their efforts. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed weekend my friend. Dale

Most pro shops suck charge way more than you can get things online don’t have the time or knowledge to help a guy, yes support small businesses but damn if I just have to go online or watch you tube to learn everything myself why? If you could buy every bow online the good shops would stick around and the bad ones would go away or step it up, I think in the next 3-5 years we will be able to buy online

Josh, I wasn't not going to say it, IN fact, I did say it in the original cut, but it is nice to see someone else has a theory like me. I so agree, the mediocre at best shops who treat you like they do because they know you are stuck to them, would probably change the mindset. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment and share your thoughts and experience with us as well. Thank you so much and I hope you have a blessed weekend. dale

The only thing archery shops really have going for them is equipment to work on a bow and practice using it. If the bow manufacturers sold flagship bows online, every shop that isn't tied into a big box store would go out of business. That's why you can't buy one online.
@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors2 күн бұрын
I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment, I believe you are correct on a lot of the TRUE archery shops, but if you look around at some of these HUGE box stores that are already selling flag ship bows the were technically not doing so in years past, and the I say huge store, I think you may know the one in particular I am referring to, that is a start of a different kind of shift we have not seen historically in the past as well. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and share this with us and I also ponder if the smaller archery shops who do have great customer service, would excel in excellent online service as well. So they could potentially expand their reach as well.? I dont know, it is just a curiosity to me and I truly appreciate the feedback you have given us. thank you so much and I hope you have a blessed week. Dale

@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors it's a numbers game. Lots of people have heard of the bigger stores and would shop online through them vs searching out the local shops they may or may not have heard of. Plus if you're 1-1.5 hr drive from the closest small archery shop, would you look online at their website or hop onto the bigger stores website and look at a wide selection? Everyone selling online, would put the small shops out of business. Walk in the door business is a lifeline.
@TomWWood3 күн бұрын
I do not agree with this. There are many reasons why hunting bows are only sold in stores. (This does not apply to all just most) 1. Warranty 2. It keeps proshops in business. 3. They are better equipped for the average hunter. 4. Everytime I've bought from a proshop, they give me the package that comes with it, including extra screws. 5. You can buy target bows online because there are way more options and colors to choose from that hunting bows and there are fewer target shooters than hunters 6. Stores buy the bows pre from the manufactures and take the risk of sales. 7. I think your local proshop is a bad example to use towards all proshops.

Than you for taking the time to watch and comment. I truly appreciate the thought you put into this. I am sorry I was not more clear in my delivery. I love the idea of pro shops, that is a side note, that I guess I should have potentially spent more time on , Most all of my videos I suggest people go to the pro shops for help, (if they have one, we dont all have one is the main point of this video) I really tried to say that in the first minute or two, if you have a pro shop, this video is probably not for you. However, you do bring up some interesting points and I agree on some of them as well. I do want to thank you so very much for taking the time to list them all out. Food for thought, what if you lived in a small town and wanted to open a legit pro shop, but the reason you can't make it happen is that the odds of success for a specialized business like that limited your options, and if you as the pro shop owner could help make ends meet by selling some items online? Just food for thought.? When I was a kid, we had a little small mom and pop archery shop in town, they did what they could to keep the place open for a lot of years, I used to hang out there as much as I could. I loved that shop. A big sporting good store opened up in town and they had to close the small ma and pop shop down. About a year later the same big store no longer carried any archery stuff. I always wonder about them, they were like family. Now granted this was way before internet as we know it today, but I wonder if they could have waited out the storm with some other options for sale. Second since you mentioned it, what if your local pro shop your talking about was able to sale online to folks who don't have a pro shop, and or what If your neighbor bought a bow online and he took it to your pro shop and that guy was able to make a 100 bucks to tune his bow and or set it up? I do agree with a lot of your points, but when I went to register my bow online, it told me my serial number was not sold, so I don't think the warranty card is the main breaking deal. I also don't think the color of the paint makes any difference to me as to why you can or cannot buy it online I guess is my main question. Thanks again friend and I hope you have a blessed week. Just for an FYI, this video was started out about 30 minutes longer and part of what got culled out was my story about the best pro shop I have even been blessed to be a customer in, however, it just got too long, I figure I will make a follow up video to this one for those points. I hope you have a blessed weekend and again, thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your viewpoints with all of us, it is truly appreciated. Dale

PS, I think the pro shop you are using, would be an idea candidate for those of us who dont have a pro shop to purchase the bows from online, I bet he would be happy to ship them. Just a guess, I may be wrong, but folks the store you describing to me would be the ones who would probably sell even more if they could sell them online. I may be wrong, My wife tells me I am wrong all the time hahaha. Just food for thought though. Dale

Honestly I purchase flagship bows online through ebay once all the new crap comes out. Ever notice they dump their stock quick once all the new crap comes out. Here is a taste if what the ships have to endure. High Mr Archery shop. You would like to sell our product. Yes sir. Okay buy 15 to 20k of our bows, we decide which ones, and sell them. Whe. You can't sell them the shop eats that cost. When you are a big shop you get treated like gold, when you are at the bottom you are expected to perform like the big shops. It's about how many units your shop can sell and how happy you can make the manufacturer, not the customer. If you are wondering why I know this crap it's because I have endured the experience through experience. If I was a hunting shop and I knew the customers were big on specific models why the hell doni need to purchase what I can't sell..... ELITE, HOYT, and a few others. How about letting the shop decide what he wants to order and sell instead of some special package that the shop owner has to take a loss on. If you want a bow wait till they need to dump their excess stock to get their atta boy awards and then order the stuff they sell online to help get their special extra credit award at a reduced price.

I show several target bows in this video and the option to add to cart to complete the order from Lancaster's archery a huge online presence, you can also go to podium archer and order online as well as many others, I dont know where you love, so I wont be able to tell you where you can order one, you would simply have to do a google search and find one online, you may also notice I did not say direct from the manufacture, ie, I did not say you can order using the mathews bow builder and the bow builder is not even set up for the target bows which is what this video is about, I will provide you a link to lancasters. this is the one I was showing in the video. here is the link. Thank you for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts with us, I truly appreciate it and I Hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale Feel free to click on any of the ones they have in stock for sale as well as able to pre order online the ones that are new for this year especially since you mentioned Matehws, last I looked they have a few last years Mathews titles and the new ones you can order online, notice they are pre orders since they are not fully stocked yet. Hope this helps clarify you concerns of the legitimacy of my research on this topic. if not, that is ok as well, we all have the right to an opinion and thanks for sharing yours as well friend. lancasterarchery.com/collections/target-compound-bows

I agree, I have heard you can buy Dartons and maybe one other brand online hunting bows, But for the most part, they hunting bows are not, and that is part of why I made the example on the Elite and Bow tech , they sell target bows and you can order the target colors online, but the camo colors are not available for online sales. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment and share your experience with us. I hope yall all have a blessed week. dale

@@michaelschnitzer4054 I also agree we need to support the local archery shops, I am a big proponent of that. We need them , however for the ones who dont have a pro shop with in a reasonable distance from them and they feel comfortable setting up thier own bow, I believe the old rules of not being able to get the bow they want nine should be re-looked at as a possible solution, we are not all blessed with a good pro shop near us. This video started out being over 45 minutes long with me mentioning several bow shops in Oklahoma where I grew up that are awesome pro shops, some not in business any more and some are. I have to cull down the video to get it to comply with the KZbin Norms if that makes sense. I will do another video soon that we can all share our favorite pro shop in the comments. Thanks again for taken the time to watch and comment. I hope you have a blessed weekend friend. Dale

Here's what's funny, bows and arrows are so dang expensive now it is laughable and none of the archers are more accurate than they used to be. I shot 1" groups at 20 yards in 1993 and I can still do it today. So what's changed to make it so much more expensive? I say in addition to MAGA we need MAAA (Make Archery Affordable Again)
@HeartlandMakesAndOutdoors12 сағат бұрын
We think a lot alike , I am actually working on another video that I will tie this comment into it as well since it is not complete. Go back to that same time frame and ask yourself what the majority of the bow manufacture where chasing back then and what are they still chasing today, and like you already mentioned, the only thing that has truly changed is the cost of it, I will let you guess what that video will be about, and yes, it till will start with some off the wall law that is outdated as well. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, I hope you dont mind me sharing it in the upcoming video. Happy New Year, have a blessed week and I will talk to you again sometime. Dale.
