I chose S1 because of Creative Sauce. I was using cakewalk, but some guy named Mike hoped I was doing well, and did some tutorials on Studio One. I made the jump and still rely on this Mike guy for his excellent advice.

Studio One user since 2012. First PC Win7 and since 2021 Win10. Can absolutely confirm the awesome stability of Studio One. It really never crashes! Maybe same like your experience, once or twice a year, mostly due to a third party plugin, and with a daily use of several hours, that's reeeally close to never. Also never would want to miss the awesome musicloops function for organizing and quick-loading my favourite sounds and plugins. ❤

During Covid when I was waiting patiently for Apple to upgrade to silicon, I couldn’t find any contemporary DAWS that ware compatible with my older computer except… Studio One.! I downloaded the free version to get going. I was not only blown away by how smoothly it operated on my older system, I was extremely thankful that I could get going during that time. I eventually bought into the pro version and never looked back. And, of course not even Logic has a big window regarding the operating system that you need to run it on. Recently, I demoed Logic to see if I was missing anything. When it opened, I was astounded at how much of a toy it seems compared to Studio One. Studio One feels like a real workhorse to me. It hasn’t failed me ever yet. I just love its workflow. I just hope that they continue doing what they’ve been doing. And that is regular improvements and listening to the community.

Seems I come from the majority background... once a proud Sonar user, turned jaded consumer. My journey started with the addition of a new interface. I chose a PreSonus StudioLive mixer/interface to solve my I/O issues, and Studio One Artist came bundled as a pkg. Very quickly got hooked... upgraded to Professional, and proudly became a Sphere member. A Faderport 16 soon followed... and became the icing on the cake. Creative Sauce played a HUGE roll in helping me get up and running, and for that, Mike, I am forever grateful. Keep up the amazing work!!! There is simply no looking back now...

Been using Studio One for 2 months after I got my own PC, after using Cubase in my studio as main DAW with my producer friends, and I'm happy to stay with the current one. I just feel comfortable with the workflow in Studio One rather than Cubase, is a less convoluted DAW for me.

I was one of those Jaded Customers who had purchased a licence for Sonar , so i decided right there and then to move to another DAW, i had tried Cubase, but had a few stability issues, and then stumbled upon Studio One ( Artist i think, if that was the free one ) And then out of the blue came Studio One Sphere. ( the subscription ) that included EVERYTHING. It was a no brainer for me, and i'm still subbed to this day, its a great DAW, i think i have had about 2 crashes since initial install, and the video.s on YT from Gregor and Joe Gilder are fantastic. Well done everyone at Pre Sonus.....PS, i also use their Hardware (USB Audio Interface.s ) Studio 1810c and a studio 6/8

A recent convert after being unhappy with the stability and performance of my Cubase v8. Sometimes getting anything done was like wading through porridge. I came across this channel and your videos on S1, liked the "similar workflow to Cubase but far slicker" aspect of it after trying the trial version - and made use of the xmas period sale price. Very happy I did. And look forward to learning more from your videos as I progress. Very very happy I made the change, thanks Mike.

I chose Studio One 100% because of your wise guidance, Mike. You probably don't recall, but you and I communicated a few years ago by email when, as a Cakewalk user, I followed your recommendation of the Presonus ioStation24c (which of course came with a licence for Studio One Artist) and you wrote back to me saying that I should consider getting the Pro version. I followed your advice and I've never looked back! So, thanks again for turning me on to this great DAW!

I went from Cakewalk because it kept crashing, lagging, and other issues. Before cakewalk was logic and protools and before that was acid pro. S1 is the most stable and just easy to use. As for price, the S1 Sphere subscription rocks. You could pay full price and buy the daw right out, but don't get future versions. If you pay the subscription, it comes out cheaper and you get EVERYTHING.

Was/ am a diehard Cakewalk user since their inception (12 tone systems) and a pc386 with soundblaster, lol. Always been a Windows user since I can build 'em (yeh no macs). Well, Cakewalk has been really unstable lately- 1 common example is after exporting a mixdown, the program would close, sometimes it would just close as it readied the export, yes multiple times a day! And it maxed out my new AMD7700x with 32 gig memory, after around 100 plugins, not nearly enough these days. (yes, would sporadically close in the middle of an edit, mfs). So, reluctantly, I am also using Studio 1, as I am still learning all the ins & outs. Editing for now is so slow compared to cakewalk, I still don't know how to do the splitting and crossfading properly, like when lining up vocals or guitars... so we need more vids right away!!!!!! I am very glad though as it's 100% stable, and I have at least 150 plugins on my current song!! much appreciation dude

Hey Mike, I really love your approach to videos and S1. I often times I like to flush out song ideas on my ipad. It's easy to get a song structure and decide if the basic song is worth pursuing. Used to do it in Garage Band - but now that logic is available for iPad - i do it that way and then transfer to Logic on my mac before exporting midi to S1. Honestly it's a tedious process. I wish presonus had a S1 ipad app. But in the meantime at least I don't use garageband on ipad anymore. It removes a step Thanks for all of your excellent content.

Protools crashed a lot and lacked the features of Logic. Logic has great features but is very buggy! You've definitely convinced me to give Studio 1 a try. I truly hope they put an end to my DAW blues, it has been going on for the best part of 15 years.

I'm not s power user in S1 but i like the vast amount of features. I haven't upgraded to 6 yet, as i was underwhelmed by the (to me) incremental upgrades, so I'll probably wait until v7 to upgrade.

I have been using Studio One for about 10 years of professional daily use, having come over from about 25 years with Cubase. How little did I realise that I would end up working for PreSonus, as I have done for the last 4 years. Stability was one of the main reasons for me switching. Cubase became unbearably unstable to the point of extreme frustration, so I switched and nuked my Steinberg account! However, finding that Studio One had Melodyne via ARA and an integrated mastering suite that is integrated in an incredibly smart and helpful way, meant that I could also dump mastering software that I had also been using. The last 10 years have been amazing as Studio One has grown and developed. Here's to the next 10!

I bought me a PreSonus Studio 26c and thought it would automaticly reconice it in the program, but thanks to a KZbin video I saw that I had to select "Studio USB" from the menu inside the program. I would exspect the same company would had an more easy way to find their product in their program.

So I’m a logic guy that wants to use studio one. I have used studio one extensively (since v2 off and on) funny enough it’s usually when one temporarily breaks pdc that I switch to the other and I stay on it. Right now both have working pdc so not a current issue. At the end of the day while I think studio one has hands down the best workflow, it has the worst built in effects by far. Open air 2 is incredible but it doesn’t hold a candle to space designer. Auto filter in s1 is great very clear modulation and stuff but it doesn’t hold a candle to logics auto filter with the pre and post distortion. Logics sampler has built in pitch detection if you put in some pitched percussion it makes your life so easy if your a hip hop, pop, or edm producer. Logic has sandboxing. I repeat Logic has sandboxing for plugins. They run outside of the daw. Presence xt and sample one are very simple samplers even with the xt editor. The browser in s1 is a nightmare in regards to if you’ve opened a few folders now everything is so spread out. There at the very least needs to be an option to have column view like Logic or to only have one folder open at once like Ableton. The midi tracks being unpaired from the mixer tracks with things like solo and mute. Becomes a headache soloing stuff with side chain midi having to remember to duplicate it and prefader it and turn down the fader all the way or to just convert to audio. The #1 issue I have that has existed since iirc v2 is the permanent hanging notes when using the qwerty keyboard and adjusting a 3rd party plugin. If you click a parameter of t racks clipper for example while playing a note on your qwerty keyboard that note will start playing forever. I’d imagine this anti mobile setup bug keeps a lot of people off the daw. Studio one is king of workflow though I will give it that. It does so many things so simply. Out of all the complaints I have if they just fixed the qwerty keyboard thing it would be my daily driver without looking back. The workflow is sooooooo smooth compared to logic 😢

My problem sounds silly, but I'm on a low budget because Hardware and Instruments could easily cost moon prizes here in Brasil. I'm very happy with my Epiphone ES-339 PRO and actually also with my Marshall Code 25, until I remembered that I also have an old MIDI Controller in the corner from the days before I emigrated from Europe. I also couldn't find any of the old Installers and Licencekeys of my stonage Cubase and Native Instruments softwares. Well, looking for a DAW I chose Cakewalk because it was for free, but actually Marshall doesn't provide their Modelling Amps with any ASIO driver and the ASIO for all did not work with the DAW. So I had almost a second latency when trying to record my guitar. Long story short, I decided to buy me and Audio Interface and decided for the Presonus Studio 24C for two reasons. It was affordable, got all I need and additionally came with the best Software Bundle. That's why I'm using Studio One Artist now with a lot of plugins which came also bundled.

Cakewalk, despite like it, gave me many, many technical problems. I had to leave it because I didn't advance. Reaper is a great Daw, but I spent too many hours to customize it, and it's never enough. I also had a feeling of disorder. I loved Cubase, it is very powerful with many functions, but I had some technical problem. I have tried almost all the other existing Daws, but when I tried S1, I saw the sky. How easy it is! With S1 everything flows much faster and easy than any other Daw I have tried. Elegant interface, it is a constantly improvement Daw. It is the Daw I feel more comfortable, and I don't look back.

just switched from Cakewalk to Studio One with the release of version 7. still have to find my way around a bit, but the workflow is very similar. can't yet say which I like better. the design of the application itself is much nicer, I've always found S1 to be the most beautiful DAW anyway. But what I quickly noticed is that S1 sounds different. I recreated a song from Cakewalk completely in S1, with the exact same settings, and the sound was much wider and punchier. I know that's theoretically not possible, bits are bits, but that's how I perceive it. That's ok, at least the change was worth it. But has anyone else experienced the same thing?

I have been a Cakewalk user since the beginning of time.....I just purchased Studio One Pro 7 as I was beginning to worry about Cakewalk and how Bandlab is horsing around with it now. But, I am a live solo performing MIDI musician, running my MIDI files, all my live guitar EFX, all the Vocal EFX and lighting with my MIDI files/Cakewalk for over 30 years flawlessly. I recently moved to the DAW world and have learned an incrdible amount of wonderful things from Mike. I am finding Studio One does not seem to be as "MIDI friendly" as Cakewalk is. I struggle with all the things I can do easily with Cakewalk, many of which I have not found a way to do at all with Studio One. The documentation for MIDI is very limited, leading me to believe maybe I have made a wrong purchase, all though Studio One did look the best to me of the ones out there I had considered. It was only a couple hundred dollars, so it isn't the end of the world. I have not given up on Studio One, it certainly has many redeeming qualities, especially if you ARE NOT a MIDI producer. Has anyone else found this challenge with MIDI files? I would love to talk with some folks who have figured it out or found work arounds or something.

So I picked it up recently - full version as I got the Atom SQtried Artist liked it a lot so bought the full version. It seems to be the “ultimate” however I’m still using logic at the moment. One reason is the interface is quite cluttered. When I’m in creating mode Logic still has one thing going for it and it’s the visual simplicity in the eyes. I hope as I have bought S1 that in time I can get past this and use it as my main DAW. But as of yet I have not switched. Its integration with Vocalign and Melodyn are fantastic - I just wish it was a bit of a cleaner interface like Logic.

@philjay798610 ай бұрын
Funnily my number one frustration with S1 has been stability, specifically regular crashes. Of course, this is probably always caused by plugins and most DAWs wouldn't handle it better, with a few exceptions, notably Bitwig and I believe Reason. Another big feature that has been missing for years is some form of a clip-launcher, like most DAWs have now. Specifically been missing the ability to record loops of variable length and arrange it on the fly. This made me play around a bit with Bitwig, which is made for live looping, and has a sandbox environment for plugins. However, even the Ui looking somewhat modern, it appeared unfinished for me, like not properly thought out. Just didn't really appeal to me. Also, when trying to load a number of .WAV tracks into it, it took a very long time to load, while in S1 it would be instantaneous. This is, I guess, what makes me stay with S1, the refined UX, simplicity of use combined with a set of powerful tools at my hand.
