I don't like to do negative videos often and this one needed to be done as a warning. Sometimes people don't like the places they visit and that is okay! These are the top reasons you might hate New York City. Do any of these things surprise you?

Not watched the video yet but for me the main things I hated on my recent visit were 1. The complete lack of toilets in places, even coffee places and cafes would often not have them. The other being seating. So many places have had seating removed and when you're on your feet all day and especially as I like to travel in Winter. A safe, warm place to sit down and have a break is sorely missed. It feels like rampant capitalism to stop being being comfortable intentionally and to stop homeless people being able to rest. If you try sitting on the floor somewhere you've paid to be, you watch, a staff member will appear in seconds to tell you to stand up. It's disgusting.

Hi Sarah Since I live in Sheepshead Bay. Brooklyn NY. The stink I will never forget is the sewer plant (DEP) on Knapp st in Sheepshead Bay when I was a teenager and going to Sheepshead Bay HS in the 80s. Yep public bathrooms can be a nuisance. Smell Big Time. Subways decent in the morning. Going home can be " Challenging'. Especially going home from a Rangers game. I am a fan of the Subway system as well. I believe why the Subway are having problem with announcements is because most of the trains are old such as the R46 which is now the oldest cars,in the fleet. And I've been riding them since I was very Young. Take care be safe

As a teenager, I'd catch an old grey Public Service bus at a stop around the corner from my house, and a friend would join me in town, and together we'd head into Manhattan, to the Port Authority building. Some days we would catch the A train north to Columbus Circle, and wander the midtown area. Usually, we'd stop into the Chock Full O Nuts coffee counter on Broadway at 57th (?) for a 10¢ cup of coffee. It was watered down and weak tasting, but the price was right. I was last there in maybe 1971, over 50 years ago, and all a blur in the memory of this aging flower child. The old New York of my early adult days is gone. Nothing is the same in New Jersey, either, or even San Francisco, a city I learned to love in the late 70's and 1980's, has lost much of its character. San Francisco will be back again as Everybody's Favorite City on the top of the charts. I hope I live long enougth to see it. I hope that you and your family are enjoying your new home. Sometimes, I miss a city that never sleeps, but as time passes, I find that I have no where I want to go at 3am, except back to sleep.

The lack of public bathrooms is almost everywhere. If there were public restrooms, do you think they would be clean? Also, associated issues with unattended restaurants. Ask anyone who manages a building. Restrooms are extremely expensive to keep stocked and clean- especially if you have people abusing them. Or you could go to Switzerland where it costs to use dedicated restrooms with attendants. Americans won't pay for that. So, go when you are at a restaurant where you buy food and drinks that helps towards the costs of the restrooms.

I was given a lot of information and very useful advice from a variety of people in all boroughs I moved around.

I’ve visited NYC several times, the last time was last month. I will say that the smell of marijuana disgusts me all throughout the city. That is one thing that surprised me on this last trip; it’s everywhere now. A few years ago when I was there, I only smelled it downtown, never really uptown. The lack of public restrooms is my other frustration. Thankfully I’ve only had a few “serious” times trying to find one, but those were enough to be very nerve racking & frustrating. I love all of the wonderful food options in the city…that’s my favorite thing. It’s fun seeing all of the historical buildings & I enjoy the architecture. I’m visiting right now from Vancouver (BC Bud is kind of what we are known for) and the amount of the smell in NYC blows my mind. Haven’t you people heard of odourless vapes? 😂lol Another thing I noticed is pedestrians don’t give a F if it’s a no walk, so much jay walking and the cyclists don’t care either, they will run you over if you’re not alert. The biggest thing I noticed is the lack of moving out of the way for emergency vehicles. If a pedestrian in our city tried to cross a crosswalk when a vehicle had its sirens on you’d receive as many fines as possible and would be in serious trouble. I love NYC and the competitive nature is VERY similar to that of Vancouver. I was single until 35 because everyone is looking for the BBT (bigger better thing).

As a bronx born and raised new yorker me and my whole family hates new York City with a freaking passion. To summon up hate crimes , racism , homophobia , psycho slash welding predators on the transit , robberies, migrants, the cost of renting an apartment, sky rocking food prices mta pricing , people being disrespectful and being disruptive the list goes on . Yes new York is only good when it comes to entertainment but that's about it. Over all, the city itself has become a huge war dystopian living nightmare where you're not safe in the trains or out of the trains you can barely go anywhere when there's always something negative going on people who come from other countries into this city have no idea how dangerous this can get if you're not aware. So like I said I was born and raised in the Bronx and I have seen how dramatic it has gotten over the years when each passing day gets worse and worse. Eventually me and my family are on the verge of moving out of the city, somewhere peaceful less violent no disruption.
