Why You Need a Happy Planner Hole Punch

A tip about punching photos: for anyone who might not want to hole punch the actual photo, add washi tape to the side of the photo and create a punchable border. IOW, add a strip of washi to the side of photo leaving half of the length of the washi overhanging (it's overhanging the photo). Flip the photo over and add another strip of washi to the back of the photo and overhanging washi. Now you have a strip of washi you can hole punch instead of punching the actual photo! 😁

I have the blue punch. I have punched cardstock (60lb) I do it every week for my journal page I make. It's funny cause it's the only time I feel that it punches clean. I have punched laminated scrapbooking paper for covers as well (3mil) This punch doesn't think kindly of a single sheet of copy paper it leaves those "hanging chads" 😊 Also a side note when punching to add to the mini I line up the bottom of the sheet in between the P & Y (on the blue one) and it gets close to perfect every time. Anyway get the punch it's totally worth it.

To make sure you get the right holes for the mini happy planner I took one of my already made pages and lined it up with the middle (mushroom) punch indicator...then I put down a small piece of contrasting washi tape. Now it is like the line indicator.

A tip from me is to measure a new line under the existing one with a little bit of washi... it is a little bit tricky to see where the middle is sometimes I think. Now it’s much easier!

I have one but something that makes me sad is the limitation. This punch doesn't work with laminated papers and it's not useful for create new covers. But for papers and inserts is perfect. Thanks for the video.😘😘

It is a paper punch. It was made to punch papers. If they wanted it to be able to punch heavy duty materials, it would have cost a lot more money to produce which would have made it more expensive for us to buy as well.

Heather Kell I understand. In Brazil, where I live, it costs lots of money, around $70,00, Unfortunately! 😩The another ones for different materials costs around $90,00. All of them are expensive. But I am happy with my classic punch. The size is good, it"s not heavy and helps me a lot when I wanna add new inserts. Thanks for answering me, I love your channel. 😘😘

I had the same concern as you. I have both the pink and blue punch but as you stated they don't work well with laminated materials. I'm glad Heather cleared up the reason for why they didn't make it more heavy duty. However I did also purchase the Staples Arc paper punch system and I love it! It truly punches through laminated materials and multiple sheets of paper with ease. The only possible drawback is that the stem/neck is slightly shorter than the one created with the happy hole puncher (I how that makes sense). But if you are in need of one that goes through laminated sheets, I highly recommend it ($38.05 on Amazon, but soooo worth it 😉).

I line up my paper with the "y" on the left and on the right side I barely let the right side of the "x" show. The top and bottom ends of the "x" just barely shows.

When I move the paper up to add 2 extra holes, there is a bigger gap at one end then there is at the other? All holes were lined up. HELP!

k my punch does what it did to your tax page every single time...i have to open the bottom and physically push the pressing part out...maybe i got a bum one....i've never used it on anything sticky....it's pretty frustrating because i spent so much on it....but i DO love having it...even if it does grind my gears

I've had my punch several months. worked fine at first and I loved it. Now it's doing same as yours on everything I punch. the little cutters stick down and will not release without physically pressing them out. wish it wouldn't do this, because I love it and want it to work good like it use too.

I personally have the two hole punches from Happy planner. At one point I had actually exchanged one of them because I thought that there was a problem with my hole puncher. Eventually I came to realize that it just doesn't punch through certain materials too well. I recently purchased the Staples Arc Desktop Paper Punch via Amazon and I love it!
