Why you need the Wacom Art Pen - Live Q&A

In this video, which was part 2 of a live Q&A (that didn't work due to technical issues) I address why I love my Wacom Art pen and why as a compositor I recommend it.
My primary reason for using the Art Pen over the Pro Pen is the ability for it to rotate my brushes. This is an absolute time saver and makes detailed compositing with different brushes so much better.

This vid inspired me to get the Art Pen. When it finally arrived I could't get it working. Changed drivers, played around with settings in PS. Then I came back to this vid for a clue and there it was.... I had to tick "Projection" in the brush settings. Thanks for saving the day :)

This is the perfect pen for true handrawn brush calligraphy on the computer...you could spend hours drawing in pencil/ scanning, pen tooling. The control of the angle on the fly just like a real marker or brush makes this invaluable for custom typographers.

I dont know about photo-shop, but in corel painter, you can mapp tilt/bearing to brush rotation which isnt as good, but you can get a huion tilt pen and tablet for a fraction of the price of the art pen

Thanks! Great to see it in use. Quick question: do you ever have issues using the one pen with multiple tablets? (I assume not, but figured I'd ask) Also Kayell don't seem to sell the Art Pen at the moment, they do have spare nibs for it, but that's not what I'm looking for :)

I am interested of this pen, but after reading some reviews that saya the replacement nib for this pen does not pit anymore making the pen useless. Do you have experience on that? Thanks in advance.

The Apple Pencil second generation does NOT do the brush rotation like the Wacom art pen - correct?

Correct, it has tilt and directional (knows which direction the pen is like a real pencil for shading etc) but not barrel rotation. So far as I know there are not any brushes that would benefit from it anyway in Procreate (the most popular but not only drawing app). Barrel rotation is dominantly for brushes with “bristles” in programs like Photoshop that simulate traditional painting.

@@ciannacoleman5125 well it would be pretty cool to be able to rotate brush which has a tip like wide/long rectangle and I think you have brushes like this in procreate

I am super disgusted that this does not work in CorelDRAW. There are tools that can be manually rotated but I cannot find a way to use my Art pen for this, yet.

It works on any Wacom that allows the use of pro pens (the pro series). These connect to your computer, laptop etc. You cannot draw on a laptop window screen unless it's the Wacom Mobile Studio Pro that you are using (I have this model) which is an all in one computer by Wacom.

Lol I know :) In Australia a lot of people say 'Way-come' and I do actually prefer the way it sounds. However I have started calling it 'Wah-com' to be officially correct... I'm thinking about doing a video about how everyone pronounces this product, I've heard many variations.

I've hear it pronounced both ways. it really doesn't matter. (I actually prefer Way-Com, along with many teachers and students from when I went to college Digital Art/Animation classes

I have tried tilt with the regular pen, however it is no where near as natural and flexible as the Art Pen. It is an alternative if you don't have an Art Pen though.

I HAVE HAD 8 OF THESE BREAK and ill KEEP buying them. people are like BRO i got.....an i pad pro maybe yoiuve heeeeaard of it?? and im like no, i have the art pen. your ipad pro is a toy. then i punch them in the face and they apologize OK IF YOU HAVE AN ART PEN REINFORCE THE DEAD MIDDLE OF THE PEN!! use electric tape Tape over the grip and the bottom half of the button hole stiffly and in many layers go halfway over the button hole and an 1 or 2 inches or so from the top shiny tip that says "WACOM". then cut out the button hole and pop the button back in. also this can give you a fatter grip which will give you more control. do it right over the grip....its tape, you can redo it every time. I PROMISE YOU THROUGH NORMAL USE IT WILL NEVER BREAK. love fluentsea.net
