Try looking for a SMG. The manual swap is usually around the $4500 mark. Bake that into your budget and you might be able to find a deal

I see them 15-25k Canadian all the time though they are higher millage. Though the E92 is better deal and will do better long term the E46 just sold so well they made so many of them

I had this choice in 2016. 330Ci'04 vs M3. I was Young and M3 was a bit of a stretch... Bought 330Ci'04. Have it for 8 years now, great car. I drive it on Holidays. M3 now? This problem is not even price (but they are pricey) but technicall condition.

330ci is a great car. I would say equivalent to an audi b8 S4. The e46 M3 is more of a bucket list car especially as good ones are getting harder and harder to find

I think it all depends on the spec of the car. For example a 2005 / 2006 competition package e46 m3 in interlagos blue or a phoenix yellow are getting crazy expensive .

You better putting your money into an E92. There are so many better cars to buy for the money that will preform better as an investment. The e46 is a great drivers car but they made 86k units and the E30 only 18k Units and E92 60k units. You can litterly get an e30 m3 on BAT for less the E46 something that is 4++ times rarer and was the birth of BMW M and has significant racing history.

Some good points👍 in my opinion, the e46 m3 is going through it's "culling" period. From 86k units made I believe more than half are either destroyed or beaten up. Also out of that 86k you have to minus the convertibles as they won't touch the values of a coupe with the same specs. So in the end I think there are maybe 25k or less good examples that are worthy of appreciation. So prices are on the way up!
