Is best to grind flax seeds than to buy them already grined since they oxidize fairly quick. a 20 dlls coffee grinder will work great in doing that in less than a minute.

Make sure to grind up your flaxseed in a coffee grinder or small bender. If you eat it as is, most of the time it will just travel through your system without it being properly digested. When it does that, all the nutrients stay inside the seed and you won't receive all the nutrients thats inside.

@@anitaperry7964 hears a wonderful website knowthecause.com by Doug Kaufman he teaches people how to reverse diabetes, there's a girl on there who is 19 yr old and was type one and reversed it on the phase one diet, give you an example, you don't eat bread no cheese no peanuts or peanut butter no mayo pickles ketchup salsa they put contaminateted vinegar in those products, the fruits you can eat are blueberries raspberries blackberries granny Smith and grapefruit thats it on that, get on chromium picnolinate tablets and it will destroy the bad bacteria that's around your pancreas, and it will lower your blood sugar, so be careful not to take to much anyways what you're doing is starving the fungi out of your body by starving it, do the phase one diet or get the book he wrote thefunguslinktodiabetes by Doug Kaufman and Dr mark Holland, I reversed my diabetes on this book and website, good luck if you need anymore information please feel free to contact me ok

Open question: I know grinding fresh is best, but I just bought ground flax. How inferior is it, and it is at all toxic? I read that the oils can go rancid, but Bob's organic has a "use by" date a year from now. Thanks for any & all info.
@MrOoglebog8 жыл бұрын
I know this is a late response but if you bought that flaxseed and never ate the seeds it would still be okay to eat even 7 months later! The year long expiration is correct. Ground flaxseed can last up to a year as long as it's kept in a cool dry area. I personally put mine in the fridge to be safe.

Is it true you're not supposed to heat them? Apparently when you cook with them they lose their nutritional value.
@moonchild6502 жыл бұрын
Once heated, the natural oils of the flax seeds become oxidized, and oxidized oil is bad for us, even if its source is a healthy food such as nuts and seeds. If you grind flax seeds and leave them in a plate exposed to air, after a while, you'll smell a nasty odor - that's the odor of the oxidized oil. That's why you're supposed to eat the ground flax seeds immediately after grinding them. Alternately, you can grind a large (not too large) amount of flax seeds and store the ground seeds in the freezer in an airtight container and eat 2 spoons every day, mixed in a smoothie, an oatmeal porridge or even just mixed in 2 big glasses of water.

@MrOoglebog8 жыл бұрын
Flaxseed for the most part ranges from a nutty flavor to flavorless. I find it best to mix it in with soups and bean soups, perhaps you could also try stirring it into some hummus. You can also bake with it (although I've never done that myself). As far as I'm aware there's been no studies trying to link anything between polycystic ovaries and flaxseed but given the flaxseed's fiber and antioxidant promoting qualities it should only have good side effects if any effect on your ovaries at all.

Will it really make you loose weight because I'm petite and don't want to loose weight?
@MrOoglebog8 жыл бұрын
It may or it may not. It's really worth taking flaxseed regardless though. The Omega 3 fatty acids are necessary and have been shown to decrease chances of brain disorders that some people develop with age. Not to mention it's been shown to decrease cancer rates of reproductive organs in both men and women and also the fiber allows your gut bacteria to keep your colon healthy and prevent colon cancer. If you do lose weight just eat something more than you normally do to balance it out :)
