Trust the Universe is the first film in a series based on my Effortless Living audiobook. In this film I explore how and why we should trust the universe from a Taoist perspective. The Tao can only make use of you when you are empty of all that blocks a union between yourself and the universe. The peace that resides in the unity of trust allows the individual to harmonize with the world. This not only brings the light of Tao into the world but also guides and helps the individual along their journey through life. When we trust, the universe answers us through the resonance of our experience. The feeling of oneness brings the individual back into accord with the function of the universe.

From my perspective I am already one with everything without having to do or realize anything. The universe doesn't give me what I need because I'm not anything separate from the universe. I am just part of what is happening. All there is is what is happening. Life is just a series of unfolding events and patterns repeating themselves. Just like the analogy of the river and this thing called me is just part of the river that is flowing. Nothing has any substance in and of itself.

Religion tells me what to pray to, on whom to have faith on, it also tells me I was born a sinner, implies God is imperfect it created imperfect beings, it also tells me what to fear, it violates my God's given gift, my free will, it tries to tell me that God will punish me, he's a vengeful God and will send me to hell to burn in the ever lasting flames of hell. I have been working my way through the Tao Te Ching again, this time after a long period of having been sucked down into the insane mire that is our time. Today I read chapter 56, and I found again the one counsel of the Tao Te Ching that is *the* most critical for me at this time. This chapter begins with probably the most famous single passage from the Tao Te Ching: "He who knows does not talk. He who talks does not know." What follows is the critical piece: "Close your opening; shut your gates; blunt the sharpness; unravel the knots; soften your glare; settle your dust. So you come to the deep Oneness." I had gotten snagged by some bit of "news" and old habits flared into action/reaction. It takes a lot of trust, like the trust being spoken of in this timely video--like falling backwards in a trust circle--to unplug from "the news," to finally, fully "shut our gates." We have to learn that the world turns without us. It doesn't need saving. We can only save ourselves--why go crazy trying to save a world that whatever extincted the dinosaurs couldn't hurt? I know its true when you give up control and surrender and vibrate love energy it is beyond logic and the mind. All of a sudden I have girls talking to me and chasing me and starting conversations with me. I had the complete opposite view before hand. I thought you had to go after what you want and chase things. But when you reach and chase you are saying that you don't already have it. Everything you want is already within you. This shit is real I swear to God. If your a skeptic and pessimist just humble yourself and your mind for once and let it be and you will see the power and beauty of what I'm saying I still think there is room for logic, reasoning, and doing things in a step by step order. But there is a power beyond that that does not have any "logic" behind it Ive seen people with this vibrational energy before. I saw a guy streaming on an app, he made 100,000 within a year I could tell he had this God like energy and people will see it in you if you have it

Although the outward. Rituals of religion touch the beginnings of trust in a higher power or of trust in the universe, sometimes the mantra "God loves us and God helps us or protects us" takes us to a higher trust than the ritual. It helps me sometimes especially now with covid 19. I like your tone and delivery. Also reading the Psalms very slowly and reflecting on the meaning say of 23 and 91 are helpful and tend to fuel the mantra during the day. I mean the above mantra is also a prayer or affirmation . i became a buddhist practiocioner some years ago, then my brother read an entire random book about buddhism, throw it to me and said: "there, read it, so you really know what buddhism is about". This is the problem we face in all religions, treat God as a bunch of data to preach to others, but never to experience/ become "it"

Maybe it was a worthwhile book, lotta good books on this stuff. Plus everyone already is "it", but i get what you mean. I just think its worth pointing out, the way this sentence comes off to me reads a bit strong, or precipitous. For instance when you say the "problem" "we" "face in all religions", this makes it sound like its supposed to be us against religions or something. When really it's not just religious groups that can be ignorant, but its people lacking understanding of themselves on an individual level. And when you say "problem" that makes it sound like something is inherently wrong with this lack of understanding of oneself, when in fact its perfectly natural. We as people, not just Buddhist practitioners, are all responsible for spreading love, and all do the best we can of course. Also when you say this is the problem with all religions, it makes it sound as if the corrupted versions of many religions was always corrupt, when in fact many started out with foundations in deep truth. So the problems not as simple as, religions today just don't get it, I mean, they dont, but they evolved/devolved to that state. What do you think? maybe i'm just reading to much into your words. The comment just felt a bit one-sided, especially for a Buddhist practitioner. Also came off weird to me how you kinda put your brother down and shed him in the worst light for the comment, I mean if he read a whole book on Buddhism, he probably just wanted to help you, and likely got into it himself a bit. I was trying to take this at face value considering I dont know you or your brother.But all of this seemed a bit to negative/onesided, again especially for someone practicing buddhism. Again maybeee im just overthinking it i'm very curious for your opinion lol.

Dogen and all his work is simply amazing. Maybe you already read it but Shobogenzo is a great read. I was reading Dogen (and still do ) while searching for the truth. After watching the documentary about his life and how he went to China to find an authentic teacher that can transmit the real Dharma to him I was in awe. I find it similar when looking at todays world we don't have many authentic teachers and I was very lucky to find my teacher & teachings at Drukama. You should check it out if you are into spiritual life and teachers like Dogen . Blessings

...thank you for this production. It is always wondering me that to clear the states of zen , paradoxly how many logical explanation been used. Thank you for treating me (via Google‘s suggested videos) to another immersive treatment of the essence of Dao. One practical suggestion for future productions: Could you please consider making the backing audio track about 1-2 dB quieter? Sometimes - depending on which piece of music was playing - the backing track somewhat competed with the spoken words for attention. I always appreciate videos in which the backing audio is more „felt“ than consciously registered.

When you trust, you become one with it, and live in a state of fearlessness! And when you say emptied of hypnosis, how do we do that ? Is this where practices like meditation, yoga and such, comes into picture ?

Yes, this is where those sorts of practices can help. But you need to have a firm conviction that you are part of everything and be conscious of your ego that tends to take you away from this reality. The ego likes pull you into a world of subjectivity. Meditation will help you to loosen the grip on this cognitive error that we are searate from the world and bring you slowly back into harmony with the nondual reality at our core.

Jason Gregory hey just to get some clarity, something that doesn’t make sense to me right now is, the fact that ego and the self is an illusion, and experience within is the universal consciousness, if that’s the case then how does Mukthi or liberation make sense as when the ego self is destroyed the infinite self/god will still exist in all other lives, so when you think of liberation it’s only from the perspective of the ego self, but which is just a bunch of memory and subconscious programme, so is universal consciousness being liberated when we achieve maha samadhi or Mukthi?!

Jason Gregory the strong belief and knowledge that we are all one and that I can completely trust the universe and let go, will the knowledge of this very fact help my awakening or some meditation has to be done to overcome the hypnotic state of mind ? Like I know the truth about reality although my subconscious is programmed from childhood to believe in a different concept, so all I’m asking is if the knowledge of the truth, will that be sufficient to realise my true nature?

It, and other recent content of yours, has birthed the following question in my mind: If human beings are part of nature, then isn’t everything we do also part of nature? Is it possible for us, as part of nature, to act outside of nature? And if we are part of nature, then how can anything we do “destroy the planet?” How can we destroy nature, that is, the planet, by acting within nature? We can destroy each other, our “civilization”, but nature? The planet? How is this possible? If the events that extincted the dinosaurs didn’t harm the planet, how can anything we do harm the planet?

Humans can obviously be out of accord with nature because we create man-made systems that destroy our naturalness. Remember, Taoism is a critique of socialization for the fact that our nature from birth is warped due to this process. You are neither this and that, and that is stillness, the way of nature. But the human being has fallen for the game of this and that and so we are out of accord with nature. It is really simple to understand. The extinction of the dinosaurs was a natural process of the universe, but humans are destroying their own nature willingly. I could go on and on.

Even though animals can also pollute (say, a stream by cattle urinating into it) they don't do so from an ego-driven perspective, which keeps whatever they are doing in accord with nature (or their nature). Something will shift in nature, they will move on and the pollution will end. We, on the other hand, through our ego and the concepts and systems we create, leave nature (and our natures) behind--doing systematic, chronic damage. Again, thank you.

I honestly believe that every conscious desire one has is a vessel to give your internal self what it craves. Yet that method is unsustainable. The very thing you crave can manifest outwardly multiple times, but you’ll end up continuously begging for more. Instead, you can feel out the desire you want in your imagination, find out what internal force you internal self yearns for, and then integrate THAT into your self image.

Sometimes I feel like the universe is against me last year i was trying my best to change my life for the better i use postive subliminals and affirmations and I stopped talking down on myself uplift meself and trying my best to remain positive I Said about November I'm going to leave and Focus on my modeling career in California I spoke it to the universe and a few weeks later my brother was drinking starts a fight with me and I beat him up he pressed charges and I spent 6 days in jail and got probation for 2 years I have another brother in California I wanted to go spend time and stay with him because I rarely see him the time I get off of probation is when he's moving out of state that's when i stop trusting the universe damn universe if you didn't want me to leave you could have Expressed it better then jail time and 2 year probation 😒

great video but there may be a correction on the etymology of the work religion. The "yoga" origin is contradicted by several sources including Joseph Cambell (or Campbell) however that is spelled....look it up. cheers

True and to the point as your other two videos I've watched so far. Surely you could not have come to these conclusions by intellectual study alone. What you talk about I have directly experienced through a certain practice that I have now moved on from so I know absolutely for a fact that it's true but I would very much aorreviaue it if possible if you could tell me which system you have followed to come to this. I realise it's a universal truth and you reference daoisim in thus context and I'm pretty sure yiu have found this through a meditation practice as I did but would be very interisted in which one if you are OK to share that.

You get what he says when you look at a telescope. Our eyes can only reach a certain limit in the Univers that's literally what cosmologies are saying. We technically all see the same thing, the horizon. The rest we can not see we call that black matter (or anti-matter). It is logical, the matter can only sens matter but transcendence can give us this feeling there's more and this is extension makes up 95% of our Univers. So what's the big gap that we weren't allowed to see? No one knows we can only trust life and surrender to the divine at this point
