Until you get to bigger stages, you really don't know how accurate this video is... but this is a BRILLIANT video. Even as a SINGER, I just want to say how impressive your sense of professionalism is. I used to be in bigger regional bands and the stunning lack of professionalism I would see from some of the guitarists I was depending on was often more memorable than the crowd or show. Recently, some guys asked me to sing for a covers/originals hard rock band and the first rule we made was to RESPECT THE AUDIENCE. That means getting your music right, singing harmonies on pitch, having great and PRACTICAL gear, etc. We went to a Helix on each side, as well as a POD Pro for the bass and even the new Alesis Strata Prime for drums. Big bands (and their tour managers) have no patience for regional bands. None. Especially since they, themselves, already had to learn not to waste time. Badass video, man. Respect.

Honestly kind of refreshing to see guitarists being more conservative on tour. We really moving up in the world. I will add i think maybe having the guitars be IDENTICAL is a bit much, like i could definitely just use the same model with a different finish or maybe like a little pickup switch. But for 95% of this video i give it a hard agree.
@Cyb3rSynaps3Ай бұрын
This is why in most right rundown videos guitarists will have mostly the same shell of a guitar with the same pickups and the main differences will be cosmetic. Also I love the Schecter Solo II guitars! Good choice 👍🏻

I don’t mind a little variation at live shows. But I guess there’s two ways of looking at the art of performing music. You can look at it like a play, where it’s a well rehearsed and choreographed operation, and you can look at it like a painting, where you switch things up a little based on what feels right. I prefer the 2nd option there, but I can respect the first as well.
@princealimightyisHE78Ай бұрын
Well said
@maxalaintwo3578Ай бұрын
The second option sounds cool in theory, but in performance everything you don’t directly control or defer to an expert probably goes wrong. What’s intended to be a fun improvisation or artistic liberty can easily spiral into chaos
@brickson98mАй бұрын
@@maxalaintwo3578 idk, the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana have something different to say on that one. They improvised plenty, and Kurt Cobain went through guitars like crazy, yet the music still sounded good. Sometimes there was slight differences in sound, but it made shows unique. That’s the part I like.
@kingnary9th688Ай бұрын
the second option is great, if you have the option. this video specifically mentions being an opening act on a bigger tour, and you don’t have much time in the ways of experimenting cause everything has to move like a well oiled machine for it to even add up logistically
@brickson98mАй бұрын
@@kingnary9th688 experimenting doesn’t have to take any extra time. Even the main act has a time period to perform before they have to be done

Thank you for bringing in the reality of professionalism to the conversation. In a perfect world we'd all love to have the Dead Head Wall of Sound, but being able to deliver every night and get out of the way is the name of the game.

With strings do as, i think it was bb king, change it on stage and keep going as ya do. Most glorious thing i ever saw was a musician who breaks a string, changes it, and still keeps going the whole time. I wanna be like that.

Im just trying to figure out how digital drop tuning works. I get a pitch shift over the whole instrument, but just pitching one string?!?
@rapha2028Ай бұрын
honestly, I would have two of my instrument around if I could. It would be the end of the world if both of them failed for some reason; hopefully it doesn't come to that, especially with a backup.

Do you take out the separators at the bottom of the ENKI case? It’s hard to tell from the video but my school has one of those cases and two Les Paul’s will not fit in there with that bottom insert.

Likewise, DJs should keep a hard backup of their library, and for absolute emergencies have a premixed set on a USB stick. Playing a prerecorded set isn't great, but it's better than playing no set at all.
