This was the infamous fourth quarter shoot-out between Larry and Dominique, one of THE best 4th quarters in NBA history said Dom himself - Dom was super athletic and they called him the freakzoid for his insane dunks and moves and they traded shot for shot, and in the last few minutes even Larry said "we both deserved to win but someones gotta go home" lol I love Bird but ive got mad respect for Dominique as well, he was dunking like a freakin' fighter pilot on a bomb run, and bird in pain still giving it all he had and add the teams on both sides wow - just dont see fierce competition on this level these days. Legendary fourth quarter from both teams.

Bro I do appreciate what you are doing!! You asked us to share with you how was it back then regarding rivalries, back then Eastern Conference was so much stronger than western conference, that’s why you see that Larry and his Celtics have 35:52 to face up at least 4 teams really stacked ones, for Larry getting to NBA finals was so difficult, in Magic’s case getting to NBA finals was a walk at the park they have to wait for the winner of crazy battles

Dom was a human highlight reel!!! there were quite a few rivalries with bird, mostly cause he talked so much trash to fuel the flames, lol. the biggest bird celtics rivalry was against the philly 76ers. the '81 playoffs were the best in history. 5 of the 7 games was decided ay the buzzer. game 6 had the entire celtics team in the stands throwing hands, game 7 had literally every single play ended with 2 or 3 bodies' on the floor. even the refs just stood back like hell no we ain't getting in the middle of this.

My 2 fave players all time. Nique' imo sadly not remembered as much as some greats.....man was a pitbull. He was as athletic, poetry in motion, as any who ever did it.....and him on that basket was savage asf. As for Bird....well what do you expect? Always someone who had to irritate him and then he'd punish them severely. I actually still feel bad for Nique' losing that game....but it happened. That was a very good team, but I bet they hated Bird, as he also did them dirty when Bird did that 60 pt legendary game on them, when the whole bench as celebrating Bird's greatness lol. Great reaction.

It was this game that he played the game with bronchial pneumonia too. He was just amazing with his ability to play hurt or sick. He always did his best. You can look it up. He will always be my favorite player! He had so much heart ♥️.

Dominique and Larry Bird didn't have a PERSONAL rivalry, but more of a rivalry in the sense that they were two of the very best in the East that played during much of the same timeframe. Many people say that 'Nique outperformed Michael Jordan in a dunk contest that was in Chicago, but Michael got the win. Their proof is that Michael Jordan even somewhat acknowledged the fact. He was a great player and playing against other greats that were in the 80s helped make the great players even better. But the RIVALRY with Bird was more vs Sixers early on, vs Lakers mid-80s, vs Detroit in late 80s, and maybe the Pacers in the early 90s? At least Chuck Person tried to make it a great rivalry and he was a great player, just couldn't keep his mouth shut about Bird and that always spurs Bird on to keep winning. I don't even think you could really say that the Bulls were rivals with the Celtics, because I think the Bulls were more rivals of the Pistons and Trailblazers. At the end of the day, Dominique is loved by almost all NBA fans because he's a gentleman off-the-court and you can't hate on someone who's a good dude. Larry Bird's best rivalry will always be Magic Johnson.

Larry was hurt and sick during this game, Broncial pneumonia (you can see it in the video, his Achilles tendons both needed surgery and his back was blown out. Dominique was consistently great, and killing the Celtics, then, they went a tweeked Larry's nose and in the second half Larry went off.......
