I’ve owned hundreds of knives. I’ve given some to friends, and they never seem to understand the depth of that gift. Knives are such a personal thing. When I give someone a knife, it has such a deep meaning. It’s like saying “I am giving you a tool for life. With this tool, you can accomplish so many things. This knife is one tool that could save your life in so many situations. Take care of it, and it will be with you for the rest of your life, and the life of the one you pass it on to.”

Knives are like guns to me they get bought, used for a while, and then put into one of my safes as a retirement plan... I have my great great grandfather's favorite gun and his pocket knife he carried everyday that looks like a handle with a sliver of metal coming out of it. I have several guns and knives from my great grandfather and grandfather even the knife my grandfather carried in Vietnam. It's really cool to see the history of how things were done long ago compared to today that's why most of the older stuff will probably never get sold because you can never replace it... yes you can buy another one but it's not the same. This video made me super sentimental. I've never threw a knife away, every time I pick one up from my collection. It brings back memories of when I got it. While I have given away personal knives to my nephew and my Father because they needed one and I wanted to make sure they got a good one, I have never sold a knife or traded a knife. Most have either a story attached to them, carrying them in the Army, used on fishing and camping trips, or just because they have attached themselves to my heart. Even the really cheap knives I keep as lessons on research before buying and don't buy cheap, buy quality and mora proves quality does not have to be expensive. Love the stories of your knives and what they mean to you. Take care guys and have a great week till I see y'all again.

My first knife was what we call in the UK, a sheath knife. That is a fixed blade, hunting type knife, in a leather sheath with a stacked leather handle. The one I bought had maybe a 5" blade with a polished brass pommel and finger guard, we are talking many years ago. I saw it in the small local news agents shop as a kid and it was like a holy grail moment for me, I knew I must have it but it was so expensive for a kid. So I started to save my pocket money but progress was slow. Then my dad, who worked at Goodyear at the time, bought home a load of promotional Goodyear merch, like badges, pens, bottle openers and stuff. This became my first entrepreneurial venture. I took it all to school and sold it to other kids! I made more than enough to buy my knife! Can't tell you how it felt to walk up to the shop counter, ask to see the knife and say, yes, I'lll have that please. I walked home on a cloud of pleasure and satisfaction! Then came the regret. A few years later I swapped it for a Scalextric car, my new obsession! I've regreted it ever since! Many years later, an adult now, still had a thing about knives, and was buying Snap-On tools from the local Snap-On dealer. One week he showed my some Kershaw folders that they had taken on. Man, they looked so cool and quality! I bought several over a few months. I still have them, they have held up well and have lead up to my current passion for serious blades, I learned my lesson and will never part with them. I still use them regularly and they are far from the worst knives around. I have a lot of knives now but nothing more than £600, now I'm saving for a flagship hand made, fixed blade, to top my collection. Not sure what it will be, but it will be in the thousands of pounds area. Knives man, what a thing!

I will cherish that knife for the rest of my life and hopefully my children will as well.

Kukris for the win! I have my own custom 13" Scourge Anniversary with a custom dark brown camo custom micarta handle, raw forge finish on the upper part of the blade, and a karda and chakmak with the same handle material with a Baak all traveling in a kydex sheath. By far one of my favorite knife sets and one I would not part with willingly! I love being able to take off good sized tree limbs in one hit and it is so much more satisfying than using a pair of large pruning shears! By far my favorite outdoor knife, and goes right next to a cheap santokou in 420j2 made in Seki, Japan from an Asian market gifted to me by a friend for Christmas which I went and completely redid the primary bevels into a slightly convex grind that went much higher up on the blade than the previous hollow grind did. That Santoku on top of having sentimental value and good memories is one of my most loved knives that I have used in the kitchen I work at! Ran circles edge retention and cutting performance wise after I did the mods and polished it up around all the other knives in the kitchen made with the X50CRMOV15 including a Mercer and Mundial chefs knife! They all the received the same treatment and were honed the same being honed in 67 hrc 3000 grit equivalent honing steel and being properly apexed, deburred, and aligned every time, and the santokou just simply did better! I have been beginning to appreciate much more the story behind a knife. I have a lot of old U.S.A. made kitchen knives, and am still trying to decide on whether to mod them or not to maximize cutting performance. What are your thoughts? Sincerely, JS

I have a totally banged up Victorinox Spartan in camo scales. When I was a youth I sharpened everything on it, with my grandpas old oil sharpening stone. And yes, I even sharpened the screw driver - yes, I know. Just a few moths ago I took it out of my drawer again, because I got my that awsome CC4 Fällkniven sharpenign stone and the coarse side did great in remeoving the big chip of my Victorinox's main blade. It looks all rough and has literally thousands of marks on it, especially on both main blades, but I still love it and I started carrying it occationally again. I touched up the blades to make them razor sharp and chip free, and because of all my rough noob sharpening from my youth days the blade is even a little thinner than usual now and it basically has a full flat grind now with an micro edge. I love it so much! It sat in that drawer for at least more than one decade straight, I am so happy I still have it! All the other ones I had back in the day I either lost or broke.

I've got a numbered F1 from my conscript year in swedish air force '98. The edge is terrible and I've hardly used it but thankfully I've never gotten rid of it. It's an original and so it stays. 😊

I have one of those knives; about 40 years ago I dug a rusty old knife out of the bottom of a chicken pen (I was harvesting the chicken manure for the garden), rusty, pitted, with half the wooden handle rotted off. I cleaned it up replaced the half a handle with leather, cleaned off all the rust, sharpened it up and made a sheath for it. After a divorce, multiple house moves and 40 years of life I thought it was lost along the way but, while cleaning out the shed a while back I found it and cleaned it up again. Turns out it's a very old Mora and it's the knife I'll never lose again; Saving up for a Fallkniven F1 Pro, but my old Mora holds will still hold a special place. Tried to send you some photos but can't in comments.
