Counter point: color is better for film photography. Bnw is hard to distinguish from digital

Good point! I used to not like shooting b&w film at all because I like the look of color film a lot more and still do. B&W is starting to grow on me though.

@@cjwomack That's kind of a to each their own kind of situation. I happen to think it is too chaotic and busy, but that's not to say black man with a camera is wrong. He just appreciates something different to what I do, and that's fine. It's no different to some people liking classical music, others liking jazz, others yet liking rock and roll. There is a certain subjectiveness to art, otherwise it'd just be dry technical stuff, beauty isn't technical.

When editing film photos, I try to only do things that I'd be able to do in the darkroom. I have done more, but generally I try to keep it real. Good video!

The "Economy Inn Express" (@4:00) really looked better when you removed the wires and the car on the right. Good points made here. I try to consider the "view" ... walk around it if I can, decide to move in or give it some space if possible... but sometimes it is what it is... so I take the shot. Hope I can get out more this year and put some rolls through the cameras. Glad you had Angela in there for her "moment in the sun" cameos. Your "cluttered shot" example reminds me of some of my shots. TOO much crammed in and they look terrible and I have to remind myself that we have a "sympathetic eye" and can mentally exclude aspects of a scene. The camera does not do that... it sees what is in front of it. Then it's ugg, what was I thinking!?!

How did you remove the cars in the background at 06:00?

I use Luminar to edit and you can select items to erase and it will do it for you! I don’t know how it is in other photo editors but most of them have a similar option to do so.

About a fourth of a roll of 36 black and white film pics are unusable despite all my efforts to get good exposures. Most of the ones I want I have to fix in Photoshop. If I, and all of you, are having to do post-work digitally to get what we want... then why shoot film at all? And if you are doing post on EVERY SINGLE image, can you really call it film photography? I am tired of the long, tedious, expensive process of being disappointed and will be going back to a digital camera.

What do you imagine work in the darkroom comprised of? Photographs have always been crafted, even from documentary style photo agencies like Magnum for publishing. It’s only amateurs who were happy if they got a straight photo from their holiday or from Christmas. Even Ansel Adams landscape photos would be pretty boring if not for the work put in both in the camera and in the darkroom (post processing). But I guess digital has made people lazy and in need of instant gratification.
