I think the reason for the chain chomp fight in the underwhere is supposed to be the message that THAT specific game style is dead Since you're in the underwhere where everyone and everything is dead

Dare I say, Super Paper Mario - even though it doesn't have the traditional battle system - has one of the best stories in a Mario game. It really is overhated, and it's a shame. I'd love to see more Paper Mario games go in some directions that this game does.

48:58 Actually beating Flopside's Pit of 100 Trials a second time gives you the main 4 heroes' character cards, The mechanic about collecting cards in this game is that once you collect the card of an enemy, you deal more damage to THAT enemy, but the main character cards are unique in that it lets you deal TWICE as much damage to EVERYTHING, so the true reward is being twice as strong I guess? not that you really need it but it literally breaks the rest of the game.

37:53 I think you forgot to put emphasis on how this was delivered, In the Sammer's Kingdom the prophecy says that the one able to defeat all 100 will get the pure heart, so they try to carry on with that, but as you progress, the black hole becomes bigger, things gets so grim and the game puts a big sense of urgency with the NPC you have to fight literally letting you pass through without fighting, because they all are very much aware of what is gonna happen soon.

People also need to remember. Super Paper Mario was originally being developed for the Gamecube, and the Gamecube already had The Thousand Year Door as its Premiere Mario Turn Based RPG, so I can understand the perspective of wanting to do something different but still feel like Paper Mario, but the fact that it got transferred to the Wii and the Wii did not get a true Paper Mario RPG game, makes people treat Super like a bad decision to make even though it doesn’t deserve it. I remember when people were dismissive of Super Mario 3D World because it wasn’t the new 3D Mario game people wanted, but it was until Super Mario Odyssey came out, and later on 3D World got ported to the Switch, is when people actually started seeing the value and special flavor that 3D World was going for. I feel like if Paper Mario does fully return to its RPG roots after the TTYD remake, I can feel sure Super will be seen with better colors eventually.

What I really like about this game is the plot twist spoilers you're basically just playing dimentio's game and he just lets you beat him and even he helps several party members at various points in the game, until he betrays count bleck and tries to kill you at the end.

For Fracktail, you don't necessarily need to wait for him to circle back. You can stay on him by timing your jump right, and landing on his head after he loops to continue attacking.

3D is such a werid thing in this super paper mario, it's pretty well done but you can only use it with mario, probably so you have a reason to use him after getting other characters but it'd be cool to use bowser in 3D. 3D is also only used in one boss fight in chapter 6 and it's optional the fact 3D isn't even used in the final boss is very odd. There actually is gear in super paper mario kinda, cards will make you do more damage to certain enemies, or more damage with certain characters/pixls. You can use capture card and capture card sp's to try to capture enemies and make them cards so you can do more damage to them. You cover cards later in the video but you didn't realize how they worked with is ok cus most people don't. Also you should've used bowser carrie more, with carrie bowser can move super fast and due to what was probably a oversight you can blow fire while jumping which makes combat even easier. Dottie also really helps in the pit of 100 trials cus most enemies can't see you when your tiny so they don't attack, you're faster small and do the same amount of damage though you do have less range with bowsers fire when you're small. I fully agree chapter 2 is the worst chapter in the game, if you know what you're doing other chapters aren't so bad except chapter 5-1 and chapter 7-3. I love and hate chapter 5, I'm neutral on the rest of the chapters except chapter 3, 6+8 those are some of the best chapters I've ever played in Paper Mario game though like honestly. Storywise it's very odd pixls never talk maybe they thought it'd be a hassle to have dialogue for every pixl and people probably wouldn't care? I don't know it still seems very dumb to me and I feel like they could've made it work. The story of the game is still amazing though, and it's one of the only games where I feel like the narrative really carries the game, like PMD explorers. Edit: Squirps and Lubvi didn't die if you go back after chapter 4 for squirps and in the postgame for luvbi they're both alive. Your mispronouncing of Timpani makes me sad.

I was focusing more on the gameplay and how things went beat by beat instead of talking about the overall story. I also made this video for people who might not have played super paper mario so holding back on dimentio helped experience the twist at the end since I know the people who I wanted to watch this might not play the game. I should've mentioned him more he is a big part of the games overall plot, but in my experience I felt more of a connection to Tippi and the Counts storyline and it was the driving force for me coming back to the game so often, it's why it has more of a focus in this video.

I can hope that one we get a remake that foreshadows Dimentio’s plan as well as before but, also heavily connected him with the themes of the game and fleshed out the relationship between and Luigi, and made the final it more of a challenge to awaken Luigi instead of basically being like insta killed when Bowser hops on that mobility scooter. Dimentio is the Mario meta's Kefka. (Aside: in Chapter 5, as annoying as it is, there's a bit of environmental storytelling (showing that the Cragnons were polluting the water, which was killing the Floro Sapiens -- especially various kings (including the boss Mario had to beat up to save the Cragnons from...the consequences of their ignorance). Would've been nice if the Floro Sapiens had tried explaining to the Cragnons that dumping trash in the river was killing said FLOWER CHILDREN.)

This was the first Paper Mario game I ever beat, one of the first games I ever played. I recently played this game again more then a decade later, and I do find that the gameplay is definitely the weakest in the original trilogy. But the characters, the art style, the OST, the story, that shit couldn’t have aged any better.
