The drain filter can be cleaned and reused. That oil is pretty nasty for only 250 miles. I do my break in oil changes early and have never seen any of them look that dirty. Those metal shavings are normal and won’t do anything but the finer stuff should be caught by the main oil filter.

@@dhc8guru I can agree entirely.. No reason the oil should look like that but I think it being a 2023 & sitting for the whole time that would affect the oil.. I also agree that maybe normal but I don’t want those metal shards circulating in my oil..

Good idea to have an extra oil change, can't do anything but good. And also, viscosity equals thickness. More viscous means thicker. Hot oil is less viscous than cold oil and flows easier. At the same time, I question the wisdom of changing oil while it's hot. Does it really make a difference provided you have plenty of time to let it drip out? Warm or not, oil is a liquid and will drain out completely (apart from the amount that's potentially under the drain hole), won't it?

@@bojanperko greetings, I personally have always ran my bike or car before I did an oil change.. Seems to get the majority of oil rather than being cold.. Again I would have to agree that letting the vehicle sit long enough would eventually get the oil out..

@@majormassenspektrometer I would have to concur in the 790 & 890 duke due to their premature crankshaft going out but as far I know the 390 lineup is almost flawless
