I've just acquired a Cosina camera disguised as a Nikon FM10. This camera is sold at high prices even when they're broken here in Brasil. Fortunately, I found someone selling one at a bargain and almost brand new with a lens kit. I can't wait to go out and shoot with it. I like your short and very relaxed videos. And I did go to the end and have subscribed to your channel.

Always down for another unloved brand. Your channel is always a good respite from the endless number of AE-1s and Leicas on KZbin.

Talking abut that, while was in Paris I went to a second hand Photo shop and the seller told me that a Canon AE1 would sell for $500 now... That's cray-cray

An underrated classic Dan. I really like cameras that are off the beaten track, so to speak. There are some beauties.

If this camera was branded Pentax or another well known brand, it would sell for hundreds and people would praise it as "the best".

Thank you for this video. When I lived in the city, I taught photography classes in the evening and weekends. Often the best photos were taken by the students who were using cameras just like this one. Also, often many of the users of the latest and best offerings from Canon, Nikon and Leica were so enamoured and careful with their equipment that they never really created any photos of any great interest. I very much look forward to your next video. Thanks again for your excellent and interesting work.

These cameras are so sturdy I would not care using them in harsh conditions

Hello Dan I have a Miranda RE11 ,it looks very much the same as the Cosina,it was made at the end of the days of Miranda cameras,I have read that it was probably made by Cosina who made most of their lenses. My Miranda still looks like new and everthing works and is still in it's case as when new.The meter is switched on by a switch on front of the camera and has the same display as your Cosina in the viewfinder

The problem with eastern block is they don't use old technology to have the camera cheaper, they used old tech. to have the camera :D Born and raised in Poland during cold war. My only option of SLR was Zenit :D. Some time ago I bought Nikon FG20 just to see what could I have as an "advanced amateur' if only I was born on the other side of the rail tracks.... WOW... ergonomic, light, no mirror recoil, plenty of exposure times to choose, reliable light metering.... Simple and cheap Nikon just betas a sh**t of soviet cameras. I found Cosina while searching for some sensible M42 system to utilize my soviet and east german lenses After discovering cameras of free world was tired with Zenit crap. Cosina (sold in Western Germany by Revue brand) was a great camera IMHO. Metal shutter with 1/1000s, simple and reliable as you say. Nice channel BTW :D

Part of my family comes from Poland ! In this part of Europe, Zenit cameras were the cheapest option for a long time and if you were a photography student, beginning with a Zenit was a way to get a good camera for a fraction of the cost.

Depending on the camera, this should be an easy fix.
