Good interview, I've never even thought of looking into Email Developer specifically. Thinking outside the typical developer realm, I like it. Just taking a quick look at Ivan's YT page and he has some really good content for more info on the Email Developer front, I'll be digging into it more for sure.

I can tell you after doing email development in the early 2000's for about 10 years, it was a pain in the butt. Email client consistency was the major issue. You have to be upfront about those issues before doing the work. Getting the emails looking good in Lotus notes and Gmail can be tricky hahaha!!

I have taught myself how to code HTML emails. I've had a lot of interviews where they say my code looks good but then they focus on my lack of experience with the CRM. I got Klaviyo and hubspot certification but it hasn't helped me in getting hired.

Does anyone know what happened to Ivan Hurt? I was inspired by this interview to look into his channel/the idea of getting into email development while continuing to learn JavaScript. I trusted his advice enough to buy CodingPhase's course on creating HTML emails. Yesterday I was looking for a refresher on something Ivan said in one of his videos so I tried to go to his channel, but it was deleted. His GitHub exists with no recent activity but his Twitter is gone too...

Hey Austin, I was looking into the CodingPhase course. can you recommend it?
@austinkindig49102 жыл бұрын
@@nelsonramirezjr322 I think he did a good job of describing the process thoroughly. It also seems like many of his students went on to get real jobs afterwards. Like many other things on the internet you could probably Google and KZbin yourself to the same knowledge that he offers. That said, I would still recommend his course.

@@austinkindig4910 Hi Austin, I’m trying to be an email developer too but I’m stuck at understanding tables, can you help with any resources?
@austinkindig49102 жыл бұрын
@@oyejideoyetunde3832 kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHfXdH6jiNqWeKc this video helped me grasp how and when to use tables. Also, I've been using Adobe DreamWeaver recently because of its split code and "design" view which creates fake borders around table cells so I can see the layout without coding and later removing borders. If you don't have DW I'd suggest maybe use VS code and a live server plugin and then do a header CSS style for all tables to have 1px borders... One thing that clicked for me recently was the realization that each tr in a table has to have the same amount of tds as all the other trs - so if you want two tds on a row that is in a table with other trs that have more or less than two then your're going to need to nest another table in there to make that happen. If you haven't tried to make your own layouts using pictures of real emails as a guide, I'd say that is the easiest way to get comfortable with the whole concept of tables.
