Credit card used RESPONSIBLY can definitely be useful tools to build credit. However, lack of will power, discipline and a financial plan lead many to making money for the banks by owing interest every single month because the statement is not PAID IN FULL each time to eliminate interest. 1. Determine what you want to use your card for. 2. Have cash already on hand for full amount of item/purchase. 3. Charge to card. 4. Pay statement in full once it arrives. 5. No interest accumulated BUT history of on time payments and use of credit line on report now. 6. NEVER charge what you don't have cash on hand for that moment - great way to stay out of revolving debt. Thanks for always touching on different topics Mike!

Good video! Loved the emphasis on being financially responsible / not paying interest. A few other tips: 1) Set up auto-pay (life happens... exams, travel, work deadlines) 2) Pre-pay your cards (i.e., new drop and you're buying stuff to flip; pay off some of the balance before the statement closes to keep yourself in the 1% to 10% range)

I’m not even at 1 min but please be careful with credit cards. I hate seeing people ruin their credit. No matter what anyone else says do your own research, don’t just watch this video and go out and apply for a bunch of cards. I have a secured credit card right now and I only spend about $20 a month on it and pay it back cause I’m building my credit. But I know Mike is giving good advice and wouldn’t want to lead anyone in the wrong direction. Keep it up Mike! 💪

Here's the thing...many are negative each month, having more month left over to account for than they do income because they don't plan any spending. That being said, just using a CC instead of a debit card means there's no boundary when that money runs out. Your account is drained, means you needed to stop spending anyway. That CC lets you spend beyond your means if you're not self aware and smart! Kids have to be mindful of that.

Tell the kids what hurts their credit score too. You don't want to have a lot of hard inquiries on your credit report... that negatively effects your score. History of your accounts also very helpful. Don't close your credit card accounts. Also, for the career focused kids out there, potential employers can and will run your credit during the vetting process.
@thisisd28915 жыл бұрын
You arent wrong. However, to all the young people out there who are learning. Dont bite off more than you can chew. If you are in the credit building phase, dont go more into debt than you can handle. Im talking if you cant afford to pay that balance in 1 month dont do it. People get ahead of themselves and go too far into debt and get stuck in a cycle of robbing peter to pay paul.

Get a credit card for the spending power to make more money via ROI. Don't use it for the sole purpose of consuming. That balance will add up quick lol! Credit cards aren't bad but people misuse them all the time. It gives people the opportunity to buy something of value to make more money if used correctly.
